A first yard bird for me, a Northern Rough-winged Swallow where there are often Barn Swallows hanging out under the docks. https://www.flickr.com/photos/emccartney/48020995866/ Elaina -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Northern Rough-winged Swallow at East Shore Park
Early this afternoon during a lull in both taxi business and rain I pulled in to East Shore Park. Among about 20 Tree Swallows working the area was at least one NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW. This was an exciting discovery, my first of this species this year. However eBird shows that the first record was yesterday by Anne Marie Johnson at Dryden Lake. Other birds of note early this morning from Stewart Park included the continuing TUFTED DUCK along with all other usual Aythya species a pair of HORNED GREBES in contrasting plumages a/the all-white young GLAUCOUS GULL 23 BONAPARTE'S GULLS Yesterday evening I also saw 6 RUDDY DUCKS off the east end of Stewart. This afternoon I saw one. --Dave Nutter -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
[cayugabirds-l] Northern Rough-winged Swallow
In addition to the Bonaparte's Gulls (sitting on mudbars offshore) and continuing male Blue-winged Teal (in creek where Gary described) at Stewart Park this morning, I also had a flyby NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW heading south down the lake shore at Portland Point. Myers had 9 LONG-TAILED DUCKS in the lake off the point, calling from time to time, and a motley-looking group of 20+ transitional HORNED GREBES to the north, as well as lots of Tree Swallows. -Jay -- Jay McGowan Macaulay Library Cornell Lab of Ornithology jw...@cornell.edu -- Cayugabirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsRULES http://www.NortheastBirding.com/CayugabirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/cayugabirds-l@cornell.edu/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/Cayugabirds 3) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/CAYU.html Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
