JOB DESCRIPTION
**The main thing I'm looking for are people that have done a lot of
hands on work with Crystal Reports and Business Objects. With
approximately 60% Crystal and 40% Business Objects weighting. I am NOT
looking for a system administrator. **

Specifically, the Crystal/Business Objects developer will be working
on projects supporting the Enterprise Analytics Data Warehouse.


Role and Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and test Crystal/Business Objects universe and
report solutions
• Work with business users and technical staff to gather and refine
requirements for reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc query environments
• Collaborate with ETL lead/developers to develop effective data
models and universe designs
• Participate in the complete development lifecycle, including
analysis, design, build, and test
• Participate in the complete testing cycle, including regression
testing, performance testing, and bug fixes
• Adhere to and help refine our best practices and standards as they
relate to reporting and analytics in the business intelligence
environment


Essential Qualifications:
• Expert with Crystal Report Developer 11.0 (min 3 years)
- Experienced with Business Objects XIR2 toolsets (min 1 years,
including, Designer, Rich-client, and Web Intelligence
• Related Work Experience: 3+Yrs and/or BA in computer science, MIS,
or equivalent experience
• Broad understanding of reporting technologies, including report
delivery methodologies, analytic modeling, and data visualizations for
KPIs, scorecards, and process flows
• Experience in data warehousing and business intelligence
• High proficiency in understanding 3NF and dimensional data models
• Proficiency in SQL in both transactional and star-schema environments
• Experience with Oracle 9i or Teradata 6 a plus•

Develop Business Objects Universes and WEBI reports for the Division
of Transportation System Development (DTSD) on various projects and
adhoc requests. The desired candidate will possess an advanced
knowledge and skill with Business Objects Reporting Tools including
Universe Designer and WEBI. Knowledge and experience with Xcelsius
Dashboard Software preferred.

Strong analysis and design skills are required and previous experience
with Business Intelligence and Data warehousing concepts. A solid
understanding of relational data structures and proficiency in SQL
development is a requirement. Prior experience with Business Objects
XI Version 3 is preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to be able to interact
with staff at all levels of the DOT organization are a requirement.
Mentor the business area on universe design and reporting.

Additional skills should include: experience with dimensional models,
Oracle, DB2, and MS Access. Collaborates with the team to define and
follow reporting standards and best practices. Strong problem solving
and testing skills and successful project leadership experience is a
necessity. The selected contractor will show proof of experience in
designing and implementing Business Objects Universes and reports and
have knowledge and experience in working on project teams.

Systems Architect leads the design and development of next generation
internal business systems. Proven methodology experience for complex
systems integration projects and demonstrated ability to achieve
deliverables on time and on budget. Systems Architects capabilities
with 8 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment
to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of
complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is
expected.

Work provisions:
- The work is on- site at the DOT Hill Farms Transportation Building
in Madison, Wisconsin.
- This position will report to the Business Intelligence Unit Supervisor
- Three work references will be requested at the time of the interview
– including current management.

The Request for Service duration is for the period identified by the
estimated start and end dates. However, this engagement may be
extended for up to two one-year extensions. Due to funding sources
extensions may be done in shorter increments.

   - Linux and/or Solaris skills (4-6 years systems administration).
   - Experience in a multi-tiered, distributed and diverse infrastructure a
   must
   - Must have experience in highly available, large-scale service provider
   environments.
   - Experience supporting enterprise applications, such as DNS/BIND
   servers, Web farms, or database farms.
   - System level programming in Shell/Perl scripting (1-3 years)
