Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Configuring Voice-Card for DSPFarm

2008-10-23 Thread Mark Snow

Correct.

dspfarm allows AIM's or VWICs to access the DSPs for mapping.

dsp services dspfarm allows for dspfarms to be created for xcoders and
conf bridges.

@Kevin,

hmmm, not sure which phys platform you are working on - but the
dspfarm command originated in 12.1.5XM - long prior to there being a
PVDM2 on the market and was needed for mapping dsps to various AIM-
VOICE-30 and VWICs back in 36xx routers.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Urgent Priority for Internal numbers

2008-10-23 Thread Mark Snow
You can 'hide' the internal number from other phones by placing it in
a isolated Partition, and then create a Xlate pattern that matches the
internal number you wish to call- and place it in a Partition that can
be reached from other phones - give that xlate pattern a CSS that can
see the end internal number PT.

Xlate patterns are Urgent Priority automatically.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Multicast MOH on IP Blue/IP Communicator?

2008-10-23 Thread Alex

Hello there,
Just wanted to confirm with you that multicast MOH is not supported on IP
Blue or IP Communicator. I have CM 4.1 on VMware, IP Blue and IP
Communicator on my laptop, all on the same subnet (connected with a xover
cable) , I can see multicast packets hitting the laptop's Ethernet interface
(on Wireshark capture screen) but no music. Multicast routing or TTL is not
an issue here.
I am curious if anyone has managed get this to work? The reason I am asking
is to compare mcast MOH with G.711 and G.729 codecs, to see if the sound
quality is impaired as it is claimed in the Cisco docs.

Kind regards
Alex

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Configuring Voice-Card for DSPFarm

2008-10-23 Thread Kevin Porter
With the PVDM 1, you can't even enter "dspfarm" under the voice-card
config...It takes you to the dspfarm configuration items...

For the PVDM2, you can either use "no dspfarm" or "dspfarm", then "dsp
services dspfarm". I believe that if the PVDM2 will be "shared" for
voice circuits and dsp resources, then the command "no dspfarm" must be
used. If the voice-card is not "shared" with voice circuits, then you
can use the "dspfarm" command...

Thanks,

Kevin
