Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] v3.0 PVDM-2 resources

2009-04-26 Thread Tech Guy
It depends on your application and your understanding of the constrains you
will be facing...

PVDM2-16 contains only 1 DSP and as you might have known, you cannot do both
conferencing transcoding on the same DSP module; so if you wish to implement
both on the same router, you will hit a bottleneck.

Also with only 16 available g711 channels and 6 if you enable the
high-complexity codec or 8 if you chose the medium-complexity; you might not
even have available channels to enable conferencing or transcoding depending on
the number of PRI timeslots already enabled.

I was having the same problem with the PVDM2-16 on one of my 2811; where I
could not complete or test some labs scenarios because of the limitations on
the DSP, initially I thought I could manage by utilizing resources in the other
routers, but after a while of cutting corners, I bit the bullet and upgraded to
PVMD2-32.

Do you guys think one PVDM2-16 for each router is enough? HQ, BR1, BR2, PSTN
switch

  Thanks,

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] G729 size in FRTS and MLPP

2009-04-26 Thread SYED HUSSAIN
Hi Guys,

Can you please confirm the following?

                        FRTS:        With compression
G729 -   30                    14

MLPP    With compression
G729 -   27    12

Thanks

Those values are correct assuming the default sampling rate is used;

The actual calculated values for the default sampling rate are:

FRTS29.2/14
MLPP...27.2/12

It is also better if one knows how the values are arrived at, all the values
you stated will be useless if you are told to use a different sampling rate
other than the default.

Does anyone know the DSP configuration that Proctor Labs is using?

Since I already have 1xPVDM2-16 for each router, I think it's best to add a
second PVDM2-16 rather than adding a PVDM2-32 which might be overkill.

MOH from Flash allows only ONE MOH stream.  You've defined two.

The MOH audiot source for the second phone isn't on the flash (and can't be),
so you get the dead air.

In HQ Phone -1 [2001], I am using moh file source as sample audio source and HQ
phone-2 [2002], I am using MOH file as ringback.wav.

In Site-B I am using moh on flash, when I press hold in IPPhone from 2001
[audio source as sample source], I am hearning moh music in site-b, when I
press hold in 2002 [audio source as ringback ] I am hearing dead air in site-b.

In PSTN according to sample audio source I am hearing music it is normal, any
suggestion to troubleshoot the above problem.
