Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Transformations... vol 2 lab 3...

2009-08-25 Thread Jonathan Charles
OK, it works... I am starting to figure this out... the xform is being
invoked by the receiving phone... not the sending... so I am not
modifying MY ANI as I send it, he is modifying my ANI as HE receives
it.

BTW, this does NOT work with CIPC... well, it does, just no + sign in 7.0(1).

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Volume 1 lab 5.17 - does called xform pattern only work with std local RGs?

2009-08-25 Thread Michael Ciarfello
Hi Aamir,
Thanks for the reply. My initial problem got solved. Just one of those weird
config issues. Unconfigured some stuff and reconfigured some stuff and it
started working. It spanned over two nights where I shut down my equipmnet
overnight, so the second night was a fresh reboot.

You are correct on the over writes. It's also different behavior when SIP
trunk is involved. My HQ site was still SIP at that point in the lab 5a.

Well, they wanted to keep 7.0(1) in the lab for a reason. sigh.
Thanks

Ok I have just tested, called party transformation pattern works fine for
normal route group, however, there is a catch when the calls takes the failover
path.

Let says you have called party transformation pattern 9.[2-9]XX for BR1
local calls. Now in a scenario when your HQ gateway is down, the locals calls
for HQ site will go out BR1 gateway where on the route group you have predot
and prefix 1212. But when the call hit BR1 gateway it overrides the route group
manipulation and applies called party transformation pattern which was
originally created for BR1 local calls, hence the call fails.

So I think I would use called party transformation pattern only while using
standard local route group because for normal route group you can do called
manipulation at the route group level within the route list then why bother
going called party transformation pattern path….

Do called party transformation patterns only work when using standard local
route groups?

Q5.17 with StdLocalRG (as configured in chapter 5). Everything works fine. BR1
phone2 roams to HQ and can dial 8+ HQ local 7-digit number and PSTN phone rings.

Just to fool around, change the Q5.7 to use a provisioned (borrowing SRND
terminology) RL / RG instead of StdLocalRG,
  9.[2-9]XX (HQ_Local_PT)  -> HQ_SIP_RL -> HQ_SIP_RG -> HQ_SIP_Trunk
(gateway)
  8.[2-9]XX (BR1_Local_PT) -> BR1_MGCP_RL -> BR1_MGCP_RG -> BR1 mgcp gateway
the called party transformation doesn't seem to kick in.

SRND, F&S Guide and System guide VAGUELY discuss the topic, but don't
specifically say Local Route Groups are a requirement for Called Party
Transformation Patterns.

Thanks

ESX server is meant to be standalone. Though some have gotten it to install
under Workstation, it's not recommended. You want the standard VMware Server
(no ESX).

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Volume 2 vRack

2009-08-25 Thread Steve Sarrick
Is anyone having success with Vol 2 vRacks? Every time I seem to do a
lab there seems to be some type of issue. Lately its been with the
Pub/Sub seem like they are not 100% synced, like some things work and
others do not. For example, the last couple times out, I have not had
any phones register to the Sub even though services are running and on
another occasion. I take my test in a week and while I am able to do
configurations, testing and troubleshooting is almost impossible to do
because things don't work correctly. Usually have to check my answers
via the proctor guide versus testing for myself. Any recommendations
would be welcome.
