 Hello Experts,

I am on Lab 5A and I am now wondering how I trigger the + on the phones. I
was told that 7940s don't support + dial, but I don't want to know that, I
want to know what I need to press so it becomes a +. On my cell phone, I
press 0 and hold it. Is it the same with Cisco Phones?

  Thanks

2011-10-01 Thread Adam Frankel (afrankel)
The only issue you may run into is if your transcoder is picked as a
Media Termination inadvertently. For example, if an MTP is required for
G729-G729 media termination, MRM will still allocate the transcoder, but
the ORC-ACK will fail on the second leg. In the same MRG, MRM load
balances between the two, every other call in this scenario will fail.
This is until universal transcoders are supported with 7.1(5).

A transcoder is an MTP, but not all MTPs are transcoders. For this
reason I put the transcoder in an MRG below the MTP, if an MTP is needed
it will use the MTP in the first MRG, and if a transcoding resources are
required MRM will not use the MTP, and use the XCoder in the next MRG.

Depending on requirements this may or may not be necessary.

Adam

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] sip trunk delay offer

2011-06-22 Thread Adam Frankel (afrankel)

G729 early offer was introduced in CUCM 7.0, an IOS G.729 capable MTP is
required. In 8.5 and later CUCM can do early offer with multiple codecs
by checking the "Early Offer support for voice and video calls" checkbox
on the SIP Profile. This was made possible by the addition of the
StationPortReq,StationPortRes, and StationPortClose message being added
to SCCPv20.

Per SRND, I configured FRF.12 as below:
class-map match-any signal
 match dscp cs3
 match dscp af31
class-map match-any voice
 match dscp ef
!
policy-map wan-edge
 class voice
priority percent 33
 class signal
bandwidth percent 5
 class class-default
fair-queue
!
policy-map shape384
 class class-default
shape average 364800 3648 0
  service-policy wan-edge
!
interface Serial0/1/0.102 point-to-point
 bandwidth 384
 frame-relay interface-dlci 102
  class map384
What command we would use to verify the shaping? I tried command
"show traffic-shape" but got nothing. "show policy-map interface"
didn't give statistics on shaping.

Thanks!

Standard Local Route Group is a more scalable solution for supporting

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Basic question on 911 RG config - Low
importancequestion
We can configure route list for emergency calling either by assigning
specific RG or we can configure using Standard local route group
(which will bind the device to use local GW for emergency calls) IMO
Standard LRG is best option and recommended.

One binds to DP and other bind to CSS which one is best.

Wanted to know others opinions.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] AAR with TEHO

2011-04-17 Thread Adam Frankel (afrankel)

TEHO can have a backup route group which sends call out the local PSTN
gateway. Since "Stop Routing on Out of Bandwidth Flag" service parameter
is set to false by default, it should route to the backup local gateway.

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] AAR with TEHO

Hi,

I see if we have + dialing, we can do AAR with only one group

Only the TEHO calls fail to go through WAN

For example,,

We allow 5-calls for HQ-BR1 WAN
and a 6th call: HQ phone calling BR1 PSTN through WAN

and the WAN bw is allready have the allowed 5-calls
How can I let the TEHO call to count from the number of allowed calls
[I think I should assign location to the gateways] , and if the
bandwidth is not available and the call will be re-routed , how the
calling phone know the new called number that the other site gw not
have EPNM as the phones

Or the call will fail that I think TEHO isn't supported with AAR

Thanks & Best Regards

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Hardware conference is stuck in state "TCP_CONN_ERROR"

2011-03-29 Thread Adam Frankel (afrankel)

Sounds like you are having a TCP Connectivity issue with the CUCM.

Is the Cisco CallManager Service started on all nodes?

Can you telnet to port 2000 on all nodes?

Are the IP addresses correct?

Have you tried removing any QOS config?

Regards,

Adam

If you write a custom corporate directory server using the IP Phone

Is it possible to set up a Secondary corporate directory as an IP

Thank you,

If the PSTN phone is putting the call on hold, its the responsibility of

Subject: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CME phone hears beep-on-hold on PSTN call
I was trying to configure a CME router to stream music on hold to its
e-phones. The CME router is also the voice gateway to PSTN.

Here are the results:

Scenario #1 Calls between e-phones. e-phones can hear MOH.

Scenario #2 Calls between e-phone and PSTN phones. PSTN phones can
hear MOH.

Scenario #3 Calls between e-phone and PSTN phones. e-phones hear
beep-on-hold (beep-beep-beep).

I was trying to troubleshoot Scenario #3.

Here are the configure highlights:

=
ip multicast-routing
!
interface vlan502
 description e-phone vlan
 ip address 142.102.66.254 255.255.255.0
 ip pim dense

interface Loopback0
 ip address 142.1.66.254 255.255.255.255

ccm-manager music-on-hold

telephony-service
 ip source-address 142.102.66.254 port 2000
 moh music-on-hold.au
 multicast moh 239.1.1.1 port 16384 route 142.1.66.254 142.102.66.254

Attached are the full router config and debug output.

Any help is appreciated!

Michael

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] No Transformations applied on Internal Mobile Connect Call

2011-03-14 Thread Adam Frankel (afrankel)

Just in case you are using a 7.1 version of CUCM for study purposes be
aware of CSCsx01971.

This defect will cause calling party transformations on route patterns
and translation patterns to not be applied on Mobile Connect calls.
This defect is fixed in 7.1(2).

Since it's not a CCIE Study question you might want to try the
