[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Thank You
Ben, I just pulled away from a timed practice lab to get the news of the CCIE Voice to CCIE Collaboration transition change about 2 hours late. This is awesome news!! I was a restaurant manager for many years and I know that people can be quick to complain but not so fast to commend, so I wanted to be sure and THANK YOU for changing the policy on the CCIE Voice/Collaboration certifications. Cisco has done the right thing and you have my sincerest gratitude for any part you played in this change. I don't have 'a number' yet, but with this news my enthusiasm to get the certification is restored and I know that you've made a lot folks happy with this change in policy. Thank you again, and hopefully I'll be taking a written exam to get that Collaboration IE instead of the lab. Congrats Mike , Agree, very good point , by helping others we also learn. Looking at how detailed you explained for most issue we hv in this milis, you really deserve for the number :) Erwan --- On Thu, 11/5/09, Michael Ciarfello wrote: From: Michael Ciarfello Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Thank you everyone To: "Jeff Garvas" Cc: "ccie_voice@onlinestudylist.com" Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 11:41 PM #yiv1155123887 P { MARGIN-TOP:0px;MARGIN-BOTTOM:0px;} There's really not much to say that already hasn't been shared from everyone else. I will add or stress the following: 1. Practice, practice and practice some more. You have to be able to finish the IPexpert labs on-time and without running into any troubles. Make note of questions that give you trouble. GO back to it 1 day, 2 days, 1 week, etc later and repeat it. One of the tough things is to not fool yourself. If you find yourself saying "ahh, I don' t need to practice that again, I know it." You need to decide if that is REALLY true or not. 2. More labs. After finishing the IPexpert labs, twist them around and create your own scenarios. I and a couple others have some threads with some examples of what we twisted. And configure them without running into any troubles. 3. Time You REALLY need that 2 hours at the end of the exam for testing and more testing and carefully reading the questions. You can only get that free time if you follow the other numbers. 4. Participate By participating in the OSL (and other groups if you are on any), you test your knowledge and prepardness. If you can help others, you are helping yourself. If you can explain it to someone else, you are better prepared. There's a difference in sitting in front of the customer's equipment and getting it to work vs telling them how it works or how to configure something (hey it's their equipment.) You should monitor participation and keep track of how you are more easily helping others solove their questions. You may not get every question correct or offer correct advice, but keep track of that. It;s part of the game. Even those that are just starting their quest can still participate. Ask the original poster for an output that you would think offer insight into solving their question. Try their questions in your lab or on PL. Ipexpert has stated they are working towards 4 hours lab rental times. These will help to try out a couple questions or scenarios or re-practice things that have been bugging you or giving you trouble. 5. Read Read the SRND cover to cover MANY times. TRY everything they mention in there in the lab. The SRND is also very detailed and leave a lot to be desired. Figure out what they are getting at and fill in those blanks. Read the CCM and CCME admin guides. The Feature and Services guide, the system guide, the CCME SRND, CUP Integration guide. Well, just about every document you can FIND. And find time searching for and downloading any supporting Cisco documentation that IPX has as it's content. Then find some more. I had a huge folder on my laptop with Cisco documentation. Oh, read releae notes also. P.S. Time for the hardline. I will not say anything about the test content, either detailed, implied or generally. Follow the above, keep working at it and take then exam when you feel you are ready. Inside information, details or insight won't matter if you follow the above. ANYONE asking me for information that *I* feel breaks NDA will have that e-mail forwarded to tipline for Cisco to decide on the intrepretation. They may not be able to do anything, but it gives them more information on what's going on out there. They are WELL aware of what used to happen and are continuing to take steps to correct that to get the exam back to the level and value it used to be. Keep up the good work. Thanks everyone.
