Hello Ken, I had a problem on my first Lab attempt. It was not similar to this, but I paid my exam with my friend's credit card. Here in Brazil, people call the card's owner to confirm transaction, specially because it's a very high amount. So, mistakenly, my friend said he didn't do such transaction, and hung up. When he realizes what it was, he called back and authorized the transaction. He never received any statement of the exam whatsoever, and Cisco sent me the payment confirmation. So, I was worried and called support. They said my seat was already reserved and paid for. Even so, I was scared and took the proof of payment with me. When I arrived in Belgium, I could see a badge with my name on it, only then I was relieved. I also did what your friend did for this second attempt. I scheduled with my credit card that had no sufficient funds for the whole 1815 USD (in Belgium they charge 315 USD for VAT taxes). So, when it was the day to pay for it, the card declined the transaction and I received an e-mail saying I had to pay for it. It was then when I called my friend and used his credit card again. Now I am good, everything is paid for, and my friend already received his credit card statement. So, in other words, my first attempt was FREE. But that was just luck. Correct Ken, 3 attempts in each track and valid for all Full time Cisco employee's. Go Ahead and contact the Certification Support to track this down , how long has it been since you applied the exam ? As I know , Cisco employees could give CCIE Lab Exams free of Exam Cost for 2~3 number of attempts. Is this facility still available? its not a rule , it depend on what do you work as in Cisco and on the Center you are working with .
