[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral Position at University of Copenhagen: Protein Fibrillation

2013-02-01 Thread Bente Vestergaard
I am seeking a postdoctoral researcher, who wishes to work on the structural
aspects of protein fibrillation.
In this project, a combination of small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) analysis
and macromolecular crystallography will be applied, investigating peptide and
protein systems with relevance in either amyloid disease of drug development.

The BioSAXS group at the University of Copenhagen is part of the Biostructural
Research Sector, at the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology. The BioSAXS
group currently consists of the PI + 3 post-docs (+ the new researcher) and 6
PhD-students.

The position is financed by Sapere Aude, which is a Research Career Programme
of the Danish Council for Independent Research.

For more information, please contact Asc. Prof. Bente Vestergaard
(bente.vesterga...@sund.ku.dk) or see the full posting at
http://www.ku.dk/stillinger/vip/. Please note that it is only possible to apply
by following the directions on-line.

Deadline for application is Feb. 8th 2013. The position is available at the
earliest time convenient for the best candidate.

[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral Positions at Cornell University

2013-02-01 Thread Ailong Ke
Two Structural Biology postdoctoral positions are available in my lab to work
on (1) the structural aspects of proteins and complexes involved in a
prokaryotic RNA interference pathway, and (2) the structure and conformation
dynamics of riboswitches in gene regulation. Representative publications can be
found in PNAS 2007; 104(43):16844-9, Nat Struct Mol Biol. 2008 ;15(10):1076-83,
Science 2012;336(6089):1726-9, and Structure 2012; 20(9):1574-1564. The lab is
equipped with extensive crystallographic and nucleic acid biochemistry
resources, and is within walking distance to the synchrotron beamlines at the
Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS).

These positions are funded by NIH. Candidates should have (or expect) a Ph.D.
in Structural Biology, with solid experience in protein purification,
crystallization, phasing, and structure refinement. Prior experience with
nucleic acid and/or baculovirus expression system are desired. For more
information, please contact Asc. Prof. Ailong Ke
(ak...@cornell.edumailto:ak...@cornell.edu), or learn more about our research

[ccp4bb] phasing with EM map using Amore

2013-02-01 Thread sujata halder
Hi,

I am trying to use a cryo-EM map as a MR model for an Xtal data set. I have
calculated structure factors for my map using SFALL. And then used rotcross
function and translation function searches (from AMORE) to determine the MR
solution. So, finally I got X, Y, Z fractional coordinates and Euler alpha,
beta , gamma.
Usually I start with a coordinate file (pdb) as a model whereas my initial
model is a map. So how am I supposed to apply this solution to the mtz file
from my initial map? Is there is a program/script available that can be
used to apply those rotations and translation to structure factors ?
Or am I proceeding in the wrong direction?
I tried to use Phaser and Molrep but it did not give a solution.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
