[ccp4bb] positions at Brown University, USA

2022-03-25 Thread Deaconescu, Alexandra
Hello:

Please see below an ad for several positions available in my lab and funded
by new, multi-year grants from the NIH.

*POSTDOCTORAL AND TECHNICIAN POSITIONS*

*at Brown University, USA*

*The Deaconescu Lab* at Brown University has two openings for postdoctoral
researchers and one for a technician. The laboratory's interests lie
primarily in stress responses, with particular emphasis on responses to DNA
damage. We utilize a combination of biochemical, biophysical and structural
techniques. (e.g. X-ray crystallography, electron microscopy). Examples of
recent work are: Schwartz et al, *Protein Science *(2021), Brugger et
al, *Nature
Communications *(2020), Dorich et al, *Genes & Development *(2019), Vemu et
al. *Science *(2018), Le TT et al. *Cell* (2018), Szyk et al, *Cell* (2014).
*Positions are funded by two new multi-year grants from the NIH.*

*A successful postdoctoral candidate* should have an established
track-record of publications in peer-reviewed journals; solid experience
with protein biochemistry (their purification and assay development). We
have a variety of projects available at different stages of development,
including some that involve drug design. Prior knowledge of crystallography
and/or single-particle electron microscopy is highly desirable. Must be
highly motivated and work well independently as well as in a team.
Excellent spoken and written English are required. Newly minted PhDs are
encouraged to apply.

*A successful technician candidate* should preferably have a degree in
chemistry/biological sciences and more than two years experience at the
bench, at the minimum experience with molecular biology, and ideally, also
with protein purification and crystallization.

*Interested candidates should send a CV, a one page research experience
summary and contact information for three references to *
alexandra_deaconescu[at]brown.edu. Please use “postdoctoral candidate”
or “technician candidate" as a subject.

Salary and starting date are negotiable. Brown University, an Ivy League
school ranked as 5th best in the US by the Wall Street Journal, is located
in Providence, Rhode Island less than one hour away by train from Boston.
Rhode Island provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation with
beautiful beaches and sailing and we offer a friendly and supportive lab
environment.

Re: [ccp4bb] Running Pandda with CCP4 7.1 ?

2022-03-25 Thread Pearce, N.M.
Hi,

I have been meaning to finalise and release an updated version of pandda, but
unfortunately have not been able to finalise this throughout the pandemic due
to ongoing stressors.

However, there is a beta version available on the pandda bitbucket:
https://bitbucket.org/pandda/pandda/src/master/.
It is likely that some bugs still remain in this, but it should generally be
much more stable than the previous version.
It should be installable into ccp4, with a couple of tweaks (see installation
instructions on https://bitbucket.org/pandda/pandda/src/master/).
Please let me know if you run into problems.

Nick

[ccp4bb] Faculty Positions in Structural Biology and Molecular Biophysics at Uppsala University

2022-03-25 Thread Maria Selmer
Dear colleagues,
The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Uppsala University invites
applications for up to 3 tenured faculty positions in molecular biophysics and
structural biology.

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (http://icm.uu.se
) is an international, broad and distinguished department
and an excellent research environment. Research interests range from genetics
and molecular biology to structural biology and biophysics of single molecules.

One position is within the program for Structural Biology
(http://www.icm.uu.se/structural-biology
), where current research covers
structural and functional studies of a wide range of fundamental biological
processes ranging from protein synthesis, metal homeostasis, structure-based
drug discovery, and protein evolution to assembly of complex structures,
antibiotic resistance and membrane remodeling.

One to two positions are within the program for Molecular Biophysics
(https://www.icm.uu.se/molecular-biophysics
), where we initiated frontier
research in extreme-photon science using X-ray lasers and use advances in
optical and electron microscopy for studies on photosynthetic systems, single
macromolecules, viruses and the biophysics of infectious diseases.

We are now looking for associate professors that will complement and broaden
both the expertise and research scope within the programs.

- Associate Professor in Experimental Structural Biology
 https://teknat.uu.se/about-us/join-us/vacancies/?positionId=475074

- 1 to 2 Associate Professors in Molecular Biophysics
https://teknat.uu.se/about-us/join-us/vacancies/?positionId=476337

The deadline for applications is the 10th of May. We would be grateful if you
would bring this to the attention of colleagues who might be interested in
joining us at Uppsala University.

If you have any questions related to the position, you are welcome to contact
me (maria.sel...@icm.uu.se), Stefan Knight (stefan.kni...@icm.uu.se) or Filipe
Maia (filipe.m...@icm.uu.se).

Thanks in advance
