· Contribute to the continued development of remote data collection and
real time data analysis software for the beamline data acquisition systems.
· Collect data on macromolecular crystals for structure solution, model
building, and refinement.

[ccp4bb] General User time available at NE-CAT at the APS

2021-12-13 Thread Salbego, Cyndi
All,

The next run will start in Feb 2022, and we wanted to remind the community that
we accept General User proposals for beamtime at NE-CAT at the APS.

To gain time at NE-CAT, you will need to take a few steps such as registering
with the APS (if you haven’t previously done so), submitting a General User
Proposal and if you want to discuss scheduling options reaching out to us at
csalb...@anl.gov.

Information on registering as a user can be found here:
https://necat.chem.cornell.edu/register
Information on submitting a General User Proposal can be found here:
https://necat.chem.cornell.edu/getbeam

We have two beamlines available. The 24-ID-C beamline is a variable-energy
beamline providing x-rays from 6.5 to 20 keV. The 24-ID-E beamline is a
fixed-energy microdiffraction beamline providing x-rays at 12.66 keV. For more
information on each of the beamlines please refer to our website:
https://necat.chem.cornell.edu/overview

We will begin scheduling General Users in mid-January or you can reach out as
the need arises and we will fit you into the schedule! We do have waiting
lists if you have a quick need and are willing to jump on when time opens up.
We do prefer to save these for people who have at least one trip under their
belt for training purposes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!

All,

We know that everything is uncertain and changing daily. At this time, we want
to let you know that we are up and running and can support your needs for
beamtime. Due to COVID-19 we have a lot of institutions who have closed down
and will not be able to utilize their beamtime. If you have samples ready, we
are asking for you to reach out, and we will find some available time for you.
If you have samples ready at a later time, please reach out. New users are
welcome.
Please note that operations at APS can change at any time. All data
collection will have to be remote as visitors are no longer allowed on site as
of March 17th, 2020.

[ccp4bb] NECAT Beamtime availabile for MX in February

2019-01-23 Thread Salbego, Cyndi
BEAM TIME AVAILABLE FOR MACROMOLECULAR CRYSTALLOGRAPHY AT THE TWO ID BEAMLINES
OF NE-CAT AT APS.

We currently have a number of days open in February. Below is a brief
description of our beam lines, and links with more information.

The 24-ID-C beamline can deliver X-rays in the range of 6 to 18 keV or ~2.1 to
0.69 Å. This covers most of the popular elemental edges for phasing. This wide
energy-range also makes the beamline well suited for ultra high-resolution data
collection and soft X-ray sulfur SAD phasing. The beamline is equipped with an
optional kappa goniometer for optimal alignment of crystals. A Pixel Array
Detector (PAD), Pilatus-6MF, installed on the 24-ID-C beamline helps measure
very weak Bragg reflection intensities due to its noise-less readout technology
and also provides a very fast data collection capability in shutter-less data
collection mode.

The 24-ID-E beamline is a fixed energy microdiffraction beamline delivering
X-rays at 12.66 keV, optimized for Se-SAD experiments. It is equipped with an
Eiger-16M Pixel Array Detector, offering advantages similar to those of the
Pilatus-6MF.

For more information on our beamlines (beamline and robot manuals):

The 24-ID-E beamline is a fixed energy microdiffraction beamline delivering
X-rays at 12.66 keV, optimized for Se-SAD experiments. It is equipped with a
CCD-based ADSC Quantum 315 detector.

Both beamlines are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation to handle
advanced data collection methods. MD2 microdiffractometers installed at both
beamlines provide very clean beams from 5 microns to 100 microns in diameter
and have exceptional sample visualization systems capable of visualizing
micron-sized crystals with extreme clarity.
