[ccp4bb] Postdoctoral position in structural virology at the Scripps Research Institute
A postdoctoral position is available starting immediately to continue the structural work on adenovirus capsids and associated proteins (Reddy et al., Crystal structure of human adenovirus at 3.5Å resolution. Science. 2010;329(5995):1071-5) at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California, in the research group of Vijay Reddy. Candidates with a Ph.D in biochemistry or structural biology and within 2-3 years of their graduation are encouraged to apply. Hands on experience and knowledge in protein expression, purification and aspects of structure determination employing x-ray crystallographic methods are essential for the intended position. Interested candidates are requested to send their CV, summary of research interests and names of 3 references to red...@scripps.edu Thank you Vijay S. Re: [ccp4bb] Mercury phenylglyoxal
Okay, that settles it. Thank you David and Pat for sharing the knowledge and wisdom. Kind regards, Vijay On Jul 11, 2012, at 6:43 AM, Patrick Loll wrote: I second the mythical conclusion. We also tried to make it and failed 10-15 yrs ago (we came up with the di-iodo compound, if I recall). Many of these organomercurials are really tough to handle; I suspect that even if we had succeeded in making the desired compound, it would have been as soluble as a stone. I had a chemist friend try to make some following the a protocol we found on the web - which didn't work. The consensus on the ccp4bb back then was that it was a bit of mythical beast, and I never progressed beyond this. http://www.ysbl.york.ac.uk/ccp4bb/2001/msg00958.html We made some Iodo-phenylglyoxal though... never got it to work (as a derivative) in action. [ccp4bb] scala and postref
Hi all, Does anyone have version(s) of scala and postref that "work together in tandem" and willing to share. Even older versions of these programs are fine with me. I can not seem to make the recent versions of the programs work together... even though there is a POSTREF option available in scala. Thanks for your consideration. Regards, Vijay Vijay S.
