[ccp4bb] Open-rank Faculty Position in Biology - School of Advanced Studies at the University of Tyumen (Russia)

2018-11-03 Thread Yury Polikanov
A new open-rank faculty position (Professor of Biology) is available at the
School of Advanced Studies at the University of Tyumen
(Siberia, Russia).

The School of Advanced Studies (SAS) https://sas.utmn.ru/en/, a new and
rapidly growing institution at the University of Tyumen, is recruiting
professors (open rank) in biology (including evolutionary biology) and
neuroscience. SAS operates in English, so no knowledge of Russian is
required and currently employs 20 professors from 7 countries.

SAS's distinctive feature is the organization of research around
multidisciplinary projects. The teams will be formed and projects outlined
at the project design session in March 2019 (see info
on the previous such session here:
https://sas.utmn.ru/en/project-design-session-2018-en/). We will hire the
most promising teams to realize their research projects at SAS while
contributing to SAS educational process.

The incoming professors may also receive a joint appointment with X-Bio:
Institute for Environmental and Ecological Biology at the University of
Tyumen https://www.utmn.ru/en/x-bio/institute/, which will be extending its
scope to become an Institute of Life Sciences in the coming years. The
direction of the development of both SAS and X-Bio’s research agenda will
to an important extent reflect research interests of their new faculty.
Both institutions are central to the University of Tyumen strategy
supported by the Russian Academic Excellence project https://5top100.ru/en/.

Successful candidates will be asked to teach at SAS liberal arts and
sciences undergraduate program as well as, in case of a joint appointment,
at X-Bio international MA programs. Successful candidates will receive
European-level salaries, health insurance, and research travel funds, as
well as access to available lab equipment. Receiving an internal grant to
purchase equipment the university does not have will also be an option.
Some information on Tyumen is
available here: https://sas.utmn.ru/en/siberia-light/.

Please send a CV, three letters of reference, and a cover letter
describing your academic itinerary and research plans in the framework of a
hypothetical multidisciplinary team project via e-mail
to s...@utmn.ru before December 15, 2018.
