"mc" is known to include a very buggy tar implementation - don't use it.

Eisfair-Server-Projekt; Kernel 2.4.35

On earlier releases of cdrtools including a72 I never had the problem.

I unpacked the cdrtools source twice: once using direct tar command and the
second time using mc which I also used yesterday.

The error messages occured using mc.

Now I compared the unpacked source trees with diff
(cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01 unpacked with mc the other unpacked with tar
commandline):

These are the differences:

eis # diff -r cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/ cdrtools-2.01.01

File cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/44libs...@!scg is a regular file
while file cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/44libs...@!scg is a directory

File cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/45libsico...@!tables is a regular
file while file cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/45libsico...@!tables is a
directory

File cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/55mkiso...@!diag is a regular file
whilefile cdrtools-2.01.01/TARGETS/55mkiso...@!diag is a directory

File cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/cdrecord/readme.di...@2 is a regular file
while file cdrtools-2.01.01/cdrecord/readme.di...@2 is a directory

File cdrtools/cdrtools-2.01.01/make_di...@2.sh is a regular file while file
cdrtools-2.01.01/make_di...@2.sh is a directory

eis # tar --version
tar (GNU tar) 1.17

You still confuse people by publishing a file called "mkisofs-1.13.tar.gz" that
does not match the checksum from the original at:

ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/mkisofs/old/mkisofs-1.13.tar.gz

Please remove this file from ftp.gnu.org.

Mkisofs supports large files for the file system image since 9 years.
Claiming that you added this now does not look like a valid statement.

What OS and what tar?

GNU tar sometimes has problems with tar archves,
I recommend star ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/star/

OK

cdrtools 2.01.01a73: untaring the archive could not create some hardlinks

2010-01-25 Thread Marcus Roeckrath
Hi,

on untaring the cdrtools source archive I got some errors when tar wasn't
able to create some harddlinks.

But cdrtools compiles fine.
