Same problem here. gentoo, gg-4.1.2, unpatched cdrtools-2.01.01a44


The related bug has been reported to the GNU make maintainers in 1998 but
as the bug has not yet been fixed, it seems that GNU make is unmaintained :-(

Can you try this:
start k3b, select New data-dvd project,  move some files in project, press 
burn, start QPxTool, activate Simulation for the related drive, 
press burn (k3b)

Does simulation work?
Now retry you console command
