Re: PX-716SA growisofs won't write DVD

2005-10-01 Thread Steve Adeff
Well, I went out and bought the best Fuji media I could find according to the
web. mediainfo scans them fine, look to be ok, but when I try to burn to them
i get the error. So far the only disc to work is the RW media that the drive
came with. my TDK -R and the Fuji +R and -R all get this error of showing as
0%.
Upon Further research I've found individuals with the PX-716A say that these
two Fuji media (Taiyo Yuden make) work *perfectly* with this drive. In fact,
one of the makes (the YUDEN000/T02) is the media SOLD BY PLEXTOR!
I've also read many people with the A version say they haven't had any problem
with even cheaper media.

I'm really beginning to think that the problem is not with the media or
the drive but with the software somewhere.

I've attached the mediainfo I took for both media from my two DVDR drives.

No, because the drive hardware needs to be tuned by the firmware to
produce correct results. But looking at the output, you also support 6x
writing in your drive. I would try writing this media at 6x, since it's
a supported speed. That's about the upper end of how fast you write a CD
at 48x, as a data point.

It may be that the firmware indicates it can operate at 8x, but can't,
 at least with this media.

Same thing I told David, your drive (firmware) may not like the media.
Things to try are other brands of media and firmware upgrade. That
device not ready sounds as if the firmware didn't like the media.

Other thought: try the mediainfo command and see if that provides
enlightenment.
