I assume you would have to run grub2-mkconfig and grub2 install
or equivalent.

When configuring fonts you are asked if you want to "Allow pages to
choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above". What did you
choose?

installation will know how to properly set up partitions so that

A new install will default to partitions with 1-Megabyte alignment
(2048 LBA sectors). That is totally unrelated to "cylinders".
