I would go with inexpensive HP color laser printer. Laser printers can sit for long time without use, without degrading, once you need it, it will work. HP is the ones I would recommend - so far I didn't see HP printers broken, or out of supplies which are not manufactured anymore (stay away from Xerox in any event: I had to throw away several color laser Xerox printers because Xerox stopped making toners for them, and Xerox did all to thwart "aftermarket" compatible supplies). The only disadvantage of laser printer compared to ink is if you need to print high quality photographs: ink of different colors blends, whereas powder in laser printer doesn't. But all on all if you are not picky, photographs printed on laser printers look great too. Only people with special needs will be unhappy with laser and will go with ink for photographs. I hope, this helps. I suspect that RHEL8 will default to dnf, rather than yum. There haven't been too many major changes for the sysadmin, there are various things happening, don't know when they started, for the desktop user with Gnome changes, Wayland, and the like. The usual pattern is that something is developed for Fedora, which seems to be aimed at the single user laptop owner who has no experience in handling data for other people. Then, RedHat blindly puts it in the next RedHat release. Experienced adminstrators complain. This is usually ignored. People post on various lists and forums that they're moving to FreeBSD. Reminiscent of some celebrities who said they would move to Canada if Trump became president, they find that it's easier to adjust than actually make the move. That's my somewhat jaundiced view on it. To elaborate, and cherry pick items that suit my bias, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias, I believe it was Fedora who first decided to severely limit the options in the curses based version of anaconda, which then went into RHEL6, causing a lot of curses. . That's a simple, unresearched, and quite possibly wrong example, but I suspect many of us use Fedora so as to not get caught by surprise when things like that happen (the curses based install suddenly losing lots of options.) -- Scott Robbins PGP keyID EB3467D6 ( 1B48 077D 66F6 9DB0 FDC2 A409 FA54 EB34 67D6 ) gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys EB3467D6 ___ CentOS-docs mailing list CentOS-docs@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-docs

You probably need to rename the directory, restore the symlink and move any files in the renamed directory to the correct directory. Well, it was slightly more complicated than that. But yeah, in essence that's what I needed to do. Unfortunately, the move to systemd is a bloody nightmare and after the systemd-resolved vulnerabilities, I'd pay good money for RH/CentOS to trash that pile of crap. -- Mark Haney Network Engineer at NeoNova 919-460-3330 option 1 mark.ha...@neonova.net www.neonova.net ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
[CentOS] old hardware / minimal netinstall -> CPU fan control
I have just installed CentOS 6 i386 onto an old rack server (it's gonna be a Bacula storeage server and is a 1U 1/2 depth chassis) I did a minimum netinstall and so far so good. However, I have one problem. The CPU fan is going at full speed constantly. Not a real problem apart from (a) it will affect the fan's lifespan and (b) it's noisy. I've done some Googling and found some help. I've installed lm_sensors and run sensors-detect. After reboot I get the following: [root@harpo ~]# sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +40.0°C (crit = +75.0°C) [root@harpo ~]# which implies that it can read the CPU temp, but the fan is still going at full speed. Can anyone suggest what I need to do next to enable fan speed control? [root@harpo ~]# more /etc/sysconfig/lm_sensors # Generated by sensors-detect on Tue Jul 11 11:49:07 2017 # This file is sourced by /etc/init.d/lm_sensors and defines the modules to # be loaded/unloaded. # # The format of this file is a shell script that simply defines variables: # HWMON_MODULES for hardware monitoring driver modules, and optionally # BUS_MODULES for any required bus driver module (for example for I2C or SPI). HWMON_MODULES="w83627hf" # For compatibility reasons, modules are also listed individually as variables #MODULE_0, MODULE_1, MODULE_2, etc. # You should use BUS_MODULES and HWMON_MODULES instead if possible. Re: [CentOS] Azure Centos Images
I see that the image is actually provided by Rogue Wave Software who are selling support packages for it. https://www.roguewave.com/products-services/open-source-support/centos-on-azure On 11 July 2017 at 12:00, Andrew Holwaywrote: > Hello, > > I was wondering if there is any plan to support an official image for the > Microsoft Azure cloud platform? [CentOS] Azure Centos Images
Hello, I was wondering if there is any plan to support an official image for the Microsoft Azure cloud platform? Currently there is a third party publisher "OpenLogic" providing an Centos image but I don't know who they are. Redhat is providing a RHEL 7.3 template and Canonical is providing Ubuntu. I see that a comprehensive set of AMI's are maintained for Amazon Web services. https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/seller-profile?id=16cb8b03-256e-4dde-8f34-1b0f377efe89 Cheers, Andrew ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
