All CentOS 8.1.1911 validations were done over PXE (machines reinstalled
- physical or VMs).
So that article mentions something specific about non distro kernel to have
other kmod enabled.
Is that what you need ?
IF not, just ensure that you (obviously) boot anaconda through pxe with the
kernel/initrd.img that *matches* the tree you're installing from (as yes, a
kernel/initrd from 8.0.1905 wouldn't work to kick a 8.1.1911 install)

Hallo,
problem solved now.
Problem obiously caused by a wrong path mixed kernel initrd versions.

[CentOS] CentOS 8 and DELL 7540 Intel AX200 WIFI

2020-01-19 Thread David Summers

I just wanted to follow up to my post from October 2019.

I just installed CentOS 8.1 and my WIFI card is now detected and works
properly!

So I'm a happy camper again, I guess I just had hardware that was too
new and CentOS 8.0 didn't have the driver for my WIFI card but CentOS
8.1 *DOES* have it.

Good thing, Both RedHat and DELL says it is "completely supported".

I was seriously thinking about sending the hardware back to Dell to
reorder a configuration that worked, but now I don't have to, there is
now driver support for the Intel AX200 WIFI card.

I just had to unexpectedly wait a few months.

after I put in my user name, there is the little * by the password. When I
do that, I see choices with names like

Wayland

X11

but I don't see XFCE4 session or similar.

I am guessing I missed an XFCE4 package from EPEL?

What appears in that list is controlled by .desktop files dropped into
/usr/share/xsessions. For XFCE this is:

/usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop

provided by xfce4-session - which you have. So, I'm not sure what is
up. Perhaps need a reboot? I presume this is with gdm?

Hi,
Ik could be a matter of wrong keytypes, RSA is no longer supported by
every version of ssh. I switch to ed25519 keys.

Hi Patrick, we can help you investigate the problem and found the root
cause building an identical setup using your kick-start.
Can you share it with us for this purpose?

It seems that something related to your setup and goes wrong in some
way one on CentOS7

Cheers,
