Re: [CentOS] CentOS 8 NIS

2020-04-12 Thread Andreas Benzler
Dear P.,

NIS is out. Don’t ask me why. Ask the developer.

On our cluster it is still in use, but for the next instance
I must use LDAP or compile the packages by my self.

Best wishes

Andy

[CentOS] Private repository and upgrade to Centos 7.5 (Kernel / GStreamer / Mesa)

2018-05-12 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Everyone,

long time ago I wrote my last mail about my personal repository.

The Upgrade went most smoostly. Only need to recompile mesa (enable by
wayland ) and

qt5-qtwebkit-5.9.2-1.el7.centos.src.rpm (missing by epel)
nextcloud-client-2.3.3-1.el7.centos.src.rpm

My current software Setup:

- kernel 4.16.8 (elrepo with some amd switches)
- updated graphic driver stack libdrm / libva 2.1/ amd & intel & nvidia
 (opensource driver)
- gstreamer 10.5 & ffmpeg 2.8.14
- media with vlc 2.2.8 (vlc 3 & ffmpeg3 needs newer compiler)
- mesa 18.0.3 / llvm 6.0

Moved from gnome to Xfwm4 for smoother workflow.

Wayland is untested here.

My WineHQ must be recompiled, that's all is left todo for now. I know
some of my repo
packages are not wayland enabled, but not needed this time.

Totem is mostly unusable this time since mesa 18.0. Got same problem
with Arch Linux. In fact nothing todo
with my software stack. Got vlc by the way.

Everything can be found at:

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/

While everything is my private playground and not a official repsitory
the packages are "hand made" and unsigned.

What's the benefit of this? Everything working as a normal Workstation
on a server stack software. Tested also the
last tombraider from steamnice gameplay..

The last 2 years nothing breaks realy, when I starded my project:
Centos Multimedia enabled. Still the same drive/installation
with the vodoo software testdrive. No distribution drives that long in
the past.

Sincerely

Andy

[CentOS] lets talk abaut gstreamer 1.10.5, gstreamer-libav, ffmpeg, bluray and vlc

2017-11-07 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello guys,

my playground this days with gstreamer resources can be found at:

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/gstreamer/

The best thing for centos I think to compile the given one by gstream
libav:

Has ffmpeg 3.2.5 not ffmpeg 2.8.13 what is the background for vlc. In
principal it's possible to build ffmpeg 3.4.

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/gstreamer-ffmpeg3/

vlc 2.26 is only compatible with ffmpeg 2.8.xx release.

Hopefully i get response from the gstreamer guys to get bluray running
with gstream-libav. In the past it was possible with gstreamer 1.4.5.

As a side node as always: Got problems with dvd on usb blurayplayer,
but this is another storry and can not be fixed from the kernel side.
Buffer problems. Blurays & DVD (builtin drive) are playing with vlc.
Totem can play anything, exclude bluray.

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/media/

Another little problem is vlc 3.0 can only compiled with gcc 4.9 and
upper. Has to be rearrange for static gcclib, no real dependency by
installation.
http://vault.centos.org/7.4.1708/sclo/Source/rh/devtoolset-3/
Not yet on my todo list. Why 4.9? No g++ binary break.

Bluray taken from my libbluray1 rpm otherwise i brick gvfs (bluray
0.2.3). Recompiled test wise. Think about to write a mail to redhat.

Yes I replace the complete gstreamer 1.10.4 with 1.10.5, because of
minor update.

The original package was gstreamer-libav-0.6. It was complete
inpossible to play anything good in totem.

What do you think ?

Sincerely

Andy

PS: I'm tired. Please forget my bad english this days...

[CentOS] Firefox print to file fail silent & side notes of cms4all.

2017-11-06 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello everyone,

in time when i start to rebuilt my csm4all-media, I tryed to print into
file from firefox. The print box close but no pdf is created. With
cups-pdf works, but:

- You can not name the printout
- can not change the directory from userland, only with cups
configuration.

Where is the hunt? I only wanne tell, that is not my domain.

Side note:

cms4all-kernel, cms4-all-drivers, cms4all-mesa is in takt, but I will
push information when cms4all-gstreamer an cms4all-media closed in my
private Project. My aspect "best of" isn't closed yet, still
experimental. Will take addional weeks, as i did it 2016 for centos.

@Nux, my VLC is still more stable as yours and I don't no why.

Yes I'm still there, but private and work takes to much time. I'm still
there ...

Sincrely

[CentOS] Private Browse With Docker, Centos, Mate Desktop, VNC, OpenVPN and Tor

2017-10-15 Thread Andreas Benzler
Here is my complete setup with Docker for example.

what I use: CentOS and Mate Desktop, systemd and VNC. It provides additional
OpenVPN and Tor.
Mate works better as gnome desktop. If somebody is interested.

Downloaded adobe and nux repo for VLC (needs to be hacked to run as root).

Everything runs as root as a test case.

This point can be done. First to verify that the intel gpu is work.

I got old laptops in my office and disable nvidia at first and it
works.

Secondary. If the offical NVIDIA kmod version works with the rest of
his hardware he can go on with bumblebee. NVIDIA drivers disable
nouveau in the same way as I tell him.

[CentOS] Personal kernel, drivers mesa-test and winehq

2017-08-01 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

in the mean while i compiled and tested fallow

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/kernel/
Kernel 4.12.4, feels more stable as 4.12.0 (+ RadeonSI Flags)

Drivers
Libdrm 2.4.82, added a patch from git (intel and dri2)
xorg-x11-drv-intel
Added btrfs-progs 4.12. to my driver section, because fedora coopr
doesn't compile i686 for centos.
By the next release of intel drivers I rename back intel-vaapi-driver to
be better backward compatible with other packages.

Wine
Update to wine-2.13 (Staging), allready tested with steam & WoW

Mesa-Test
I think that is the second time, when i try release candidate. But Why?
Wanne know is is possible as i did it the last time:

- Mesa 12.2.0-rc2
- against LLVM 5.0 RC1

And "Yes" :-) it do. After some simple refactoring

LLVM 5.0 needs
http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/drivers/
http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/llvm/ (because of cmake3.i686)

Mesa Needs
http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/drivers/
http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/mesa/

to compile, or you take my driver section and mesa-test as it is.

Sincerely

Andy

Hello Guys,

our cluster runs till 2014 on supermicro board.

It is not unusual that still mainboards with mga graphics cards are delivered.

So I have then adjusted the mga driver from centos 6 - the specification file -

to be build on CentOS 7. Since then this runs on the headnode without failures.

Maybe you should provide this via epel. The source can be found here:

Re: [CentOS] Thanks to every one

2017-07-16 Thread Andreas Benzler
Halo Valeri,

let's think about what a hpc cluster is for.
Second, one should always ask the question where security is to be
applied, then one can come to the following decision:

- The firewall is placed in front of the cluster.
- After you have found a safe base for this, you freeze it.

- We have a rsync of centos and epel on the head node.
>From here, we can always reinstall a node (tftp / http)
- To relieve the internal network printing, I create rpm packages that
are installed on the nodes.

All this happened about 3 years ago. Centos 1511 was established as a
stable variant for the environment.

It was one of my many different tasks in my work.

The physicists and mathematicians who count there need high durations.

My decision much on Centos because:

- free
- Maintaining until the year 2024,
longer than the cluster will live.

My way in the beginning was hard, because I had to learn everything from
the scratch and I'm no longer the youngest, but my feeling gave me
right.

Sincerely

Andy

[CentOS] Thanks to every one

2017-07-16 Thread Andreas Benzler
Thanks to all offers free service to provide Centos.

Why? After I had the BIOS for the laptop T440 & docking station had I
had immediately after the first installation works, without any
failures.

Since I know how hard such a work is, I thank everyone in the community
to make that possible.

Without a stable base I can not perform my Linux tests.

Since I often have the time micht Rolling releases like ArchLinux or
every half year, I know at the latest after a year, a Fedora update to
perform is CentOS exactly the correct. I do not need the GUI support as
in OpenSuSE, because who comes times from the shell knows what I mean.

Most cluster nodes in my work are computing machines with an average run
time of 220 days, usually over a year before they need a reboot. When I
think about my virtual Windows 10, which every week requires a restart.

I had already more than 30 distros active in my hands, but none read so
easily. Of course you can always improve something here and there and
yet it comes on a good basis.

Furthermore, I find the handling of rpm easily understandable.

Small supplement to my repo:

- I provide the packages of my work
- They are not signed because I do not see you directly as an additional
repository for everyone, rather than as an exponential fundus.
- Each external repostory changes the basic system.
- new dependencies to the packages.
- Users also indirectly depend on it.
- Repositories in the past have already led to a new split of the basis.
Best example: Debian -> Ubuntu -> Linux Mint. I don't like that point at
all.
- The holder is bound, in a certain way, to the care and demand of the
Community. - I definitely miss the time.

All in all ... thanks to everyone

[CentOS] grub2-btrfs & yum-plugin-snapper , new from my last post here

2017-07-01 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

While i work out the snapper on fedora 25 I've learnd more about python
and snapper.

Here the changes:

Snapper:

Created a combat util-linux 2.24.2 from fedora 20, static only.
This make snapper rollback available (needfull thing). Tryed to patch
snapper, there are to many changes. This will not breake centos 7
system. Only works for x86 / amd64 only this days & Centos 7, removed
many condition.

Grub2-Btrfs:

Removed "Requires: grub2", because that will install grub2 on
efi systems.

yum-plugin-snapper:

- Add gpl v3 for now
- Complete rewrote the plugin against the snapper dbus interface.
- filesystem root level check
- add single shot option, as it was on fedora before I patched it.
- more flexible as other ones I saw around.
- conflicts yum-plugin-fs-snapshot

Everything can be found at:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/Centos7Btrfs/

Snapper-Gui:

Needs epel-release because of python34

python34-pygobject3 is one of the badest hack inside spec file. I wanne
see it run with snapper-gui and compile on copr.

can be found at

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/CentOS7Python34/packages
/

Everything was tested on a Virtual Machine:

  - Snapper-GUI
  - snapper rollback
  - yum-plugin - every option.
  - grub2-btrfs

The only thing I still want to care is the grub2-btrfs plugin,
so it fits to CentOS 7. Then the personal project is done.

At this time I will reinstall CentOS on my laptop on btrfs and use
backup by send & receive on a blockdevice ZFS at my home server or
other storage with btrfs. I will see. Hopefully turn work into fun :-).

Sincerely

Andy

Re: [CentOS] test builds on private server updates (kernel)

2017-06-26 Thread Andreas Benzler
Sorry Hughes,

got some questions.

I have the feeling that I do a lot wrong. Today I sent a mailing post
at fedora where it is also about btrfs under fedora.

In time when i write the mail i forward it my patch for fedora 25
pretransaction & snapper.yp, with the hope of feedback.

https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject
.org/thread/NLFYHW3IEJHSFBUOEAVHDHBVTL7TOHYZ/

Sometimes I don't know where to push the information.

on https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/CentOS7Python34/

I release a ticket because snapper gui do not build on there repo.
Local with mock or without it never fails. No response.

Since yesterday learned how to use snapper against the dbus api. What
is the better way in my opinion. After some rest i will do it first on
centos and it back into fedora "dnf" later on.

It looks to me as if in a Fedora release little movement. If someone
wants to upgrade something you simply move it there gladly times on the
next release. This generates a high unwilling something at all a
working release to submit an improvement. This is a lot better under
Centos, although Redhat is very slow with its update cycles.

Too bad the feedback is not as good as under Centos.

In principal there are to many ways to push errors or improvments on
each (centos, redhat, fedora) distros.

Or am I doing something wrong. Is there anything I can do better?

It is hopefully not that I care 3 various Linux (This time
Arch/Manjaro, Fedora, Centos). It helps to get ideas.

Thanks for advice.

[CentOS] My grub2-btrfs & yum-plugin-snapper

2017-06-15 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

Last Sunday I had the idea to expand my gameplay btrfs. Now what was
missing was a yum plugin which worked like arch or opensuse. Ok, I told
myself and learned a little python. Also something for grub2 to boot
into a snapshot. My results are up on:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/andybe/Centos7Btrfs/

grub2-btrfs (do not use grub-btrfs, this is the version before)
yum-plugin-snapper

The grub2 plugin is tuned to snapper and is therefore in conflict with
yum-plugin-fs-snapshot (from archlinux).

/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/snapper.conf
[main]
enabled=1
verbose=0
configs=
update_grub2=False

If no configs specified so is tried to make a global snapshot.
Of course, comma-separated configs can be saved.

The yum-plugin-snapper has no direct dependency to yum-plugin-snapper
(optional)

There are many posts how it works for example: http://dustymabe.com/201
7/02/12/fedora-btrfssnapper-the-fedora-25-edition/

Here how it looks like:

Grub Menu

CentOS Linux (3.10-...)
CentOS Linux (0-rescue )
CentOS Linux Snapshots

Still a small note: here would be 6 entries for 2 kernel for each
snapshot created. It can also cause the system to stop booting. This
happened to me once grub.cfg 1.1MB was large, on fedora.
If Grub2 is so installed that it looks for strange systems, a yum
installation, because of grub2-mkconfig, also take a long time.

It works as it is. The grub2 plugin needs a little bit work. But now
analyse jet.

I made ist failsafe for linux and linuxefi.

For me, it was important to know whether such a thing under centos
works, because yum-plugin-fs-snapshot is intended for several file
systems. Can be helpful or not. Just something different for me.

Fun work :-)

Andy

[CentOS] Wrote Yum Plugin - got a question about arguments

2017-06-11 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys

I have written a small yum plugin. My question: How can I convert the
arguments to a string to output them inside a hook.

I can use many programming languages, but unfortunately no python to
understand the documentation properly.

http://yum.baseurl.org/api/yum-3.2.26/yum.plugins.ArgsPluginConduit-cla
ss.html

def init_hook(conduit):
conduit.info(2, 'Hello world')
conduit.getArgs()

InitPluginConduit instance has no attribute 'getArgs'

No matter if i put it into pretrans_hook or posttrans_hook.

This time i take " ".join(commands).

Thanks

Hello Hughes,

Had experimental my gst-test installed ~ gstreamer 1.6.4
and there seems to be a hardware video playback function.
By the wild gstreamer mix of course not stable.

Have only proven that the compilate for intel ok on my laptop.

Re: [CentOS] test builds on private server updates (kernel)

2017-06-10 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hallo Hughes,

thanks to let me know. It is good that you have a focus on LTS 4.9.

Unfortunately it is so that the new graphics cards from amd to today are not
served in the opensource.
That's why I'm experimenting with the latest stable versions and what is so.

My laptop has done the linux-firmware update well, it is nevertheless one of
the newest.

The kernel and appropriate firmware is unfortunately only the one side of a
driver when it comes to graphics cards.

The hardware decoding works only sometimes. On CentOS in the moment not (Radeon
/ Intel),
but that is not synonymous the focus of a server system. This happens to me
also with the
original packages.

I give my homework free in the thought that it might help somebody out there.

Sincerely

Andy

[CentOS] test builds on private server updates (kernel)

Hello Everyone,

Because my tests on AMD and Intel, I had to update the linux firmware.
Update comes from the upstream fedora packet and also works on centos with new
kernel.

[CentOS] test builds on private server updates (mesa, kernel)

2017-06-09 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

I really wanted to just update mesa. But the Linux kernel was also done quickly.

- Mesa 17.1.2 (remove sanitizy check, otherwise fail to built)
- Kernel 4.11.4

can be found at:

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/kernel/

http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/mesa/

Unfortunately still no time found to care about winehq.
OK. My daughter plays under the same driver stack in manjaro linux World of
Warcraft for hours
and my Fedora in the business also runs stable over several days without
failures.

Re: [CentOS] Disable Top Left Hot Corner

2017-05-31 Thread Andreas Benzler
Ok, then it is little bit more complecated.

css code moved into library.

This are the final steps (incomplete because of time)

1. enable gnome user theme (gnome-shell themes !)
2. clone css resources over web or source cocde 3.14 into
.$HOME/.theme/gnome-shell
3. follow this post https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/196541/rem
ove-disable-hot-corner -> third answer. For normal css and dark.

Hm should work I will put my laptop on the table...

You need at least a newer kernel.

If you like you can try out

http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php <http://elrepo.org/tiki/tiki-index.php>

With 3.10 I’m personal unsure
kernel-lt-3.10.104-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm
<http://elrepo.reloumirrors.net/kernel/el6/x86_64/RPMS/kernel-lt-3.10.104-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm>

But got here centos with 4.11.3 running quiet well.
kernel-ml-4.11.3-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm
<http://elrepo.reloumirrors.net/kernel/el6/x86_64/RPMS/kernel-ml-4.11.3-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm>

Hopefully that works for you.

Re: [CentOS] Disable Top Left Hot Corner

2017-05-29 Thread Andreas Benzler
It works here

]$ gnome-shell-extension-tool -e nohotcor...@azuri.free.fr
'nohotcor...@azuri.free.fr' is now enabled.
[andy@randy extensions]$ gnome-shell-extension-tool -d
nohotcor...@azuri.free.fr
'nohotcor...@azuri.free.fr' is now disabled.

I works right of the box copy got zip from git

https://github.com/Edenhofer/Minimalism-Gnome-Shell

cp -r nohotcor...@azuri.free.fr
$HOME/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions

F2 + r to restart shell

and then i was on the way .

Re: [CentOS] test builds on private server updates (drivers, mesa, kernel)

2017-05-28 Thread Andreas Benzler
Forgotten so say I tested the opensource against the one from AMD.

Both drivers works for me. The AMD Version can be used without my repo.

I look forward to rework wine 2.8 on centos from the spec file of
fedora 25.

[CentOS] test builds on private server updates (drivers, mesa, kernel)

2017-05-28 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

while im testing a AMD Radeon RX 480 i was up on my centos 7.

To get the card realy work, I upgrade my repros:

Drivers:

[cms4all-drivers]
name=cms4all-drivers
baseurl=http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/drivers/
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1

libdrm -> 2.4.81
libav -> 1.8.2
libav-utils -> 1.8.2

xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-21.20170418
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-1.0.15-1
xorg-x11-drv-ati-7.9.0
xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu-1.3.0

ATI and AMDGPU works here, intel stays out here for test.

Mesa:

[cms4all-mesa]
name=cms4all-mesa
baseurl=http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/mesa/
#baseurl=file:///srv/repo/centos/7/mesa
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1

Mesa3D, needs drivers because of libdrm 2.4.81

Mesa 17.1.1

Add downgrade patch zlib 2.8 -> 2.7
Add mesa-vaapi as separate package, still problmes with video out on
centos, remove gstreamer1-vaapi to get my videos working. No problem on
other distro (not Fedora). There is a hughe difference gstreamer 1.8
Gnome 3.24.

Kernel:
[cms4all-kernel]
name=cms4all-kernel
baseurl=http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/kernel/
gpgcheck=0
enabled=1

kernel 4.11.3

Same as elrpo, but add functions to amdgpu and radeon.

Sincerely

Andy
PS: Still unsigned private builds, take the source if your unshure.

Re: [CentOS] DNAT Internet gate problem on centos

2017-04-02 Thread Andreas Benzler
Now i know why you wait, when I ask. Depends on time I will find a (my)
way. :-)

#!/bin/sh
IPTBLV4=/usr/sbin/iptables

if [ $# -eq 0 ]
  then
echo "No arguments supplied"
   GATE=XX.XX.XX.XX
  else
   GATE=$1
fi

nslookup $GATE

echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

$IPTBLV4 -F -t nat

$IPTBLV4 -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport PORT1 -j DNAT
--to-destination $GATE:PORT1
$IPTBLV4 -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport PORT2 -j DNAT
--to-destination $GATE:PORT2

.
.
.
.

#global
$IPTBLV4 -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE

$IPTBLV4 -L -t nat -v

/usr/sbin/service iptables save

This works on the vserver to the gate -> transparent to local gate ->
transparent to network again -> local machines.

Why? I don't like my provider, but he's the fastest and cheapest in
town.

The people of today are just too curious.

[CentOS] DNAT Internet gate problem on centos

2017-04-01 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

I got trouble to get vserver work as gate:

GATE=XX.XX.XX.XX

YY_PORT=YY

echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

iptables -F -t nat

iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp -i venet0:0 --dport $YY_PORT \
   -j DNAT --to-destination $GATE:$YY_PORT

iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -p tcp --dport $YY_PORT \

iptables -L -t nat

Any suggestion? I got it in the past, but now I'm completely confused.

Thanks for help.

Re: [CentOS] From Networkmanager to self managed configuration files

2017-03-08 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello David,

It was not to flame something about NetworkManager. There some
application that "needs" to wheel the old way.

I would never have thought it would be such an enlightenment for such a
small, old thing.

1. There is a file that isn't always needed (/etc/sysconfig/network)
2. I wanne have the same result in the old style. (NOZEROCONF=yes)

And just by the way. My Desktop computer here runs with the
NetworkManager.

1. Outside lan

2. A dummy bridge adapter fired by the NetworkManager
(With a island name server + dhcp for kvm)

3. An internal lan that can also run an Centos Diskless computer.

That was not my intention; really not.

For a network starter it is an absolute must to know, how it works in
practically. Not me.

Sorry

 everyone

Re: [CentOS] From Networkmanager to self managed configuration files

2017-03-08 Thread Andreas Benzler
Certain application doesn't like the NetworkManager

for example take a look here.

https://www.rdoproject.org/install/quickstart/

And on server stage it's better to run without
any complicate configuration tools.

Tools can make life harder in some cases.

Got many other distros run before centos, why not.

I personally like it slim and easy.

[CentOS] How to rebuilt the pxe initramfs

2017-03-05 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

i read the official red hat documentation of "How built pxe initramfs",
but it does not work"

the inluded version of initramfs is about 42MB, mine 13MB.

This is again one of more failure of redhat documentation.
That's why i ask here.

In my despair tried a very hard version:

dracut -v -f -m "nfs network base" --add-drivers "nfsv4
(find /lib/modules/3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64/kernel/drivers/net )
$(find /lib/modules/3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64/kernel/drivers/virtio/) ";
chmod 644 /boot/initramfs-3.10.0-514.el7.x86_64.img

In the past i did it on ubuntu and it works flawless - means in
principal I know what I do.

Thanks for help

2. change to half (means searchname and searchserver manual)
3. order was correct inside the config, but in seperated network
configs:

PEERDNS=yes ?

5. DNS Server where in wrong direction in the consol.

4. I changed the PEERDNS entry at home manually.

Reboot. Everything works as expected, nameserver in right order (NEW,

At my office i deleted every adapter and rearrange it.

Strange, but true.

Rear put you working kernel, needed kernel for your machine for example,

Hello Bob,

looks like, the driver isn't rebuilt, take the centos 6.8 ISO and look
how it goes.

Re: [CentOS] Rebuild gstreamer

2017-02-07 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Jerry,

it is a little while back, but:

First I'm analyse what the steps to do.

- Unpack the packackge rpm -i
that place it into my home folder /home/xxx/rpmbuild

- make my changes

- rpmbuild -bs rpmbuild/SPECS/..spec (file)

. mock rpmbuild/SRPM/new.src.rpm (file) - creates a sandbox for
build, doesn'T screw up your system.

- move it to my repo location (createrepo) or install it by

sudo yum install "new.rpm" (because of dependency check)

Hm, that's how rpm's are build in most cases.

Sincerely

Andy

ps: yum provides /usr/bin/gst-inspect -> tells you which (current)
package.

Re: [CentOS] GCC 4.9 in CentOS 7 ??

2017-02-06 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello guys..

or you dig it up by hand and use

environment-modules

In our cluster I prepaired my self to do it step by step,
because we need the binary as rpm (because of dependency)
to pull it onto the cluster nodes, but this takes a lot of time.

2016-12-13 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

I only wanna you know that my private server builds
works against centos version 1611.

The messa private llmv on centos was never

I also removed my old 12.04 mesa stuff, because of this

Re: [CentOS] New laptop recomendation

2016-12-02 Thread Andreas Benzler
I think you need 4.4 lts kernel, for example
elrepo lts.

I run this time 4.8.11 with i3 6100 HP Laptop
on my own special repo (Test envoirement).

X11 uses a git version for the intel graphic card.

If you are not a beginner. You can take a view :-)

Sincerely

Andy

[CentOS] I'm still there ... test builds on private server (drivers, mesa, fixes)

2016-12-02 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Guys,

I'm still allive, but humbled by real lifetime.

My personal test stuff moved out to a new server, with more
harddrive space.

http://www.centos.cms4all.org/

Repo
http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/

My HP Notebook got some bios problem. I got a new machine
with updated processor.

That's why I upgrade my repo.

Drivers:

xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-20.20161118.el7.centos.src.rpm
(More stable on intel p520 against the old HP with intel 5500
installation - got video glitches before).

nouveau 1.0.13
ati 7.8
amdgpu 1.20
libva-intel-driver 1.73
libva 1.73
libdrm2.4.74

Mesa:
mesa 13.0.2 + llvm 3.8

Kernel:
Vanilla kernel-4.8.11 - feel very difficult with it, because of
harddrives..hm I will see.

Wine:
wine-1.8.5 (still need to update requirements)

wine-stage 1.9.23 (compiled with my drivers and mesa repo)
  - gallium 9 + staging + steam - update requirements
  - Tested: World of Warcraft, Gildwars 2, Tera
   - HD 6870 , HD 6970 with gallium. intel p520 performce slower,
 but works.

winetricks

Other:
gimp 2.8.18 (table release)

Media:
Makemkv 1.10.2

That's it for no.

PS: My packages are not signed as always - private work state.

Re: [CentOS] Kickstart issue with UEFi

2016-08-28 Thread Andreas Benzler
Here is how i dig it up.

# efi partionen ???
%pre --interpreter /bin/sh
if [ -d "/sys/firmware/efi" ]; then
echo "part /boot/efi --fstype=efi --grow --maxsize=200
--size=200" >/tmp/efipartition-ks.tmp
else
echo "# no efi system" >/tmp/efipartition-ks.tmp
fi
%end

# System bootloader configuration
bootloader --location=mbr
# Clear the Master Boot Record
zerombr
# Partition clearing information
clearpart --all --initlabel
# Disk partitioning information
%include /tmp/efipartition-ks.tmp
part /boot --fstype="ext4" --size=250
# make the physical partition for the LVM to sit on "pv.01" is
"partition volume number 01" alternatively something like "pv.02393"
would be fine.
# this partition should "grow" to fill the entire disk, the initial size
is 1mb (don't use 0 here)

Sincerly

[CentOS] Little update on my private server

2016-05-17 Thread Andreas Benzler
Hello Nux,

in the mean while I update straight forward my repo for tests in case of
multimedia.

- ffmpeg 2.8.7 (I know ffmpeg 3 is there, but can break multimedia
everywhere - must take a look).
- x264-debuginfo-0.148-1.20160118git5c65704
- libdvdnav 5.0.3
- libdvdread 5.0.3
- libdvdcss 1.4

rebuilt my vlc, mplayer & gstreamer-plugins-ugly against this libraries.

Everything works well. Got in mind upgrade x264 can effect handbrake and
xine in your repo.

http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/gstreamer/SRPM/

Everything can be found here.

I don't know if your are interested, but you can find
makemkv 1.9.10 with a little new structur:

makemkv-common (libraries in /usr/bin/lib64)
makemkv-bin(need for vlc or xmbc /kodi) to play crypted blu ray)
makemkv-ossthe qt application

vlc 2.2.3 can be compile straight forward.

xmbc & kodi if you like (take a look at the specs):
xmbc 13.2 , old but worked here good
kodi 16.1 more depends
both versions work with xbmc.plugin.makemkvbluray.zip

blu ray - 0.9.2
libaacs 0.8.1 (not needed by me, because i use makemkv - the only one
wiche works for me)

Everthing can be found at

http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/media/SRPM/

Wine-dev 1.9.10 compiled but not tested.

http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/wine/x86_64/

beside i compiled gimp 2.8.16 (needs elrepo) because i integrate
help-browser.

http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/other/SRPMS/

Netbeans 8.1 (full package - Oracle-Jdk1.8-92-1), because netbeans
works best with oracle java.

http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/java/SRPMS/

I'm not crazy, I work on my machine with long term security fixes :-)

What I'm doing: Watch Video private develop java, php, with databases.
Main Job fixes windows machines. Server tasks on Windows & Linux. Linux
since 1999 started with Slackware.

Sincerely

Andy
