Re: [CentOS] Which is better? Microsoft Exchange 2016 or Linux-based SMTP Servers?

Good evening from Singapore,

I am torn between deploying Microsoft Exchange 2016 and Linux-based
SMTP servers like sendmail, postfix, qmail and exim.

Relative ease of installation and configuration is an important
consideration factor.

Microsoft Exchange 2016, Domain Controller, and Active Directory are
relatively easy to install and configure. Linux-based SMTP servers are
extremely difficult to install and configure and of course, extremely
time-consuming.

One of the features of Microsoft Exchange 2016 is that you can create
additional folders on your Inbox in the server (server-side). Can
Linux-based SMTP servers do that?

Does Exchange 2016 offer more user-friendly features or Linux-based
SMTP servers?

Besides the above considerations, how about security? Traditionally,
Linux is far more secure than Windows.

Judging by security, Linux-based SMTP servers ought to have a higher percentage
of the market share?

Finally, I can only use Windows Server 2016 Standard Evaluation Copy FREE for a
period of 3 years MAXIMUM. But I can use Linux servers and Mail Transport
Agents (MTA) FREE perpetually.

Thanks for your help...

On Centos-7, some apps use PulseAudioVolumeControl (pavucontrol)
instead of the one that defaults to the top panel. (I am running
Mate, not Gnome--yuck--so YMMV).

I wish there was a way to control all from a single place, but AFAICF
there isn't. for some things I use the one on the top panel (which is
Mate Volume Control) and for others I gotta start up pavucontrol.
it's a nuisance.

My USB phones seem to be controlled by the pavu control, while the
speakers tend to be controlled by the mate volume control. and I can't
get my old analog (1/8 inch plug) headphones to work at all anymore,
no matter what control I use or how I poke at it, all the sound comes
from the speakers (which are plugged into the line out [green} jack
on the rear of the computer, while the headphones are plugged into the
green jack on the front.)

digressing a little... A few years ago my systems all supported
auto-switching between speakers and headphones when the phone plug
was inserted, but the only one I have now that does that is my netbook.
the current desk-side system and its last couple of predecessors now
do not do that. Go figure.

It's like if nm-applet could not see my wlan0, if i use ipw3945 and then
have my wireless interface on eth1, I have no problem, but with iwl3945
and nm-applet, it doesn't seem to work totally...

[CentOS] nm-applet with wlan0 in CentOS 5.4

2009-11-02 Thread Bernard Lheureux
Hello all,

I would like to find a soluce fo a very annoying problem I have since
I've installed CentOS 5 on my Lenovo R60 Laptop...
Everything works correctly excepted a small thing, the nm-applet of
NetworkManager-gnome always report my wlan0 in error status, even when
my wifi network is connected correctly and working without problem...
It behaves as if wlanx intefaces were not recognized by nm-applet...
How can I solve this ?

PS: every packages of this machie are up-tu-date in CentOS 5.4
Thanks for your help

But in the 4.xx version when you do a 'cat /etc/redhat-release' it shows

version 5 after the upgrade to version 5.1 if you do a
'cat /etc/redhat-release' it always shows "CentOS release 5 (Final)" and
not "CentOS release 5.1 (Final)"
