[CentOS] Centos 6 Server has no GUI
Hi, So first daft question with Centos 6 (someone had to be first!) I've setup Centos 6 as a Server but as with Centos 5 it used to boot into the GUI but v6 doesn't do this, startx etc doesn't seem to work to launch the GUI Any suggestions on how I can get this to work? Hi, So the 'fix' is applied directly to the host os, is this the correct thing to do? sysctl -w vm.min_free_kbytes = 8192 Keith On 14 Feb 2011, at 10:36, Kwan Lowe wrote: > On Sun, Feb 13, 2011 at 7:00 PM, Adam Tauno Williams > wrote: > em and force a check with "fsck -f" and occasionally find errors. >>> http://communities.vmware.com/message/245983 >>> The setting we used to resolve was vm.min_free_kbytes = 8192 >>> Previous to this we were seeing the error pop up every week or so. >> >> You made this change to the *virtual machine* [not the host OS]? >> >> This thread indicates this was with VMware Workstation and not ESX >> (correct)? > > This was done on the CentOS and RHEL guests on VMWare ESX hosts. > ___ > CentOS mailing list > CentOS@centos.org > http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
Re: [CentOS] Journal Aborts in VMware ESX (Filesystem Corruption)
Hi Also seeing this issue with CentOS 5.4 and 5.5 with NFS shared storage, according the the VMware knowledge base article this should have been resolved in v5.1 update??. Does changing the vm.min_free_kbytes value apply CentOS v.5.4 and 5.5 as well to resolve the issue? Re: [CentOS] ESXi, KVM or Xen?
Hi, We went for Esxi, with Vmware essentials, cost about £300 for 3 hosts managed via vcenter, so far so good most vm's are CentOS 5.x Running NFS shared storage on RHEL Regards Keith On 3 Jul 2010, at 04:52, Emmanuel Noobadmin wrote: > Which of these would be the recommended virtualization platform for > mainly CentOS guest on CentOS host for running a virtualized mail > server? Hi I tired plugging in a USB drive that was formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and it mounted first time Thus it seems there is direct support for HFSPlus with CentOS 5.4 just no hfsplusutils Keith On 22 Mar 2010, at 11:21, Keith Beeby wrote: > Hi, > > When I type lsmod | grep hfsplus > > I get > > hfsplus1104090 > > Thanks for the help > > Keith > > On 22 Mar 2010, at 11:11, James Pearson wrote: > >> Keith Beeby wrote: >>> Hi, >>> >>> Nothing is returned when I type >>> >>>> modprobe hfsplus >> >> That means it has probably loaded it OK - what does the following gives: >> >> lsmod | grep hfsplus >> >> James Pearson >> ___ >> CentOS mailing list >> CentOS@centos.org >> http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos > > ___ > CentOS mailing list > CentOS@centos.org > http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos

[CentOS] Mounting a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Hard Drive
Hi, I need to migrate about 8Tb of data from a Mac Fibre Channel RAID to by LVM Ext3 Linux Fibre Channel RAID. For speed I planned to connect both RAID's to my CentOS Server and copy the data directly. The Mac volume is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) it seems that CentOS 5.4 supports reading HFS volumes but not HFSPlus volumes. Is there a way of getting this volume to mount so I can copy of the data? I see Fedora has HFSPlus support Thanks Keith ___ CentOS mailing list CentOS@centos.org http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos
