Re: [CentOS] Replacing my Scalix mail server

2009-03-17 Thread Ramon Nieto
Where are these rpms? I could only find a tar file.

Untar the file, a new directory will be created with the RPMS.

Zimbra comes as a bundle with its own ldap server, mysql server,
clamav, etc. it is difficult or impossible to update one of those
services , you have to wait for the next zimbra release and look what
has been updated.

Also it uses java for some processes, you need a good server (ram, cpu
) in order to run with a good response time.

Best.

yes, some 10gb cards are, yes there are people using them. I dont see
what the issue is, are you conducting a random survey of some sorts ?

I'll like to know from others their experience using 10 Gb LAN with CentOS 4
5.

There is a chance here at work to change our backbone network to 10 Gb LAN if
this get approved (by the CIO) i'll like to include to this project some 10 Gb
Network Cards for our CentOS servers in order to connect them directly to the
new backbone.

Thank you in advance

[CentOS] pptp server configuration

2008-07-24 Thread Ramon Nieto
Hello all,

i'm using the poptop server with centos 5.2 to give the vpn service at the
company i work for. Some people are using the same account to use the service.

've been searching in google and the poptop site but i have not found any
information about blocking multiple connections using the same account. The
goal is to restrict only one connection per account.

Any suggestions or pointers to documentation will be really apreciated.

They are now using OpenVPN instead, and are very happy with it.
I know openvpn is a better solution i'm using it to connect the branch offices

We use pptp because the easy configuration on the user's computer, there is no
need to install extra software and it works with clients using windows, linux

Re: [CentOS] PPPoE setup

What do you do to get adsl-start to run at boot (and at the proper point
in booting).

The adsl-setup command will ask you if you want the interface to start at boot
time, also you can check the ONBOOT parameter in the ifcfg-ppp0 file.

I have installed a new server with centos 5.2 x86_64, when i try to install a
guest using the gui tool virt-manager the new button is disabled, so no good
luck.

Using virt-install on the command line, the install process begins but after

following error:

virDomainCreateLinux() failed POST operation failed: (xend.err 'Error creating

is someone having the same problem? do someone knows a workaround?.

Are you using nss_ldap on that server? have you modified /etc/nsswitch.conf? If

Hi all,

I have problems on one CentOS 4.6 with slapd. Namely, after trying to
start it (via /etc/init.d/ldap start) it waits for very long in
configuration check. Interestingly, when I try to start it
 manually,
but without -u ldap option it starts immediately.

What puzzles me more is the use of NETLINK socket when started with -u
option that doesn't appear in strace output without using the option.

I did grep through the source of the openldap for NETLINK but nothing was
found.

Can someone shed some lite on what's happening?

Thanks,
Stjepan

I haven't yet identified all my needs, but
I'm guessing that it will do all my routing needs fora, say, class C set of IP addresses, particularly if I ever have to do anything BGP-related.

Anyone have any pointers before I delve in? Or possibly a recommendation for another open source routing solution? Yeah, I know about Cisco stuff, but I'm hoping to limp along on a shoestring budget until I get a few more things in place, then I'll rethink everything.
