[CentOS] cups-lpd job settings

2009-09-30 Thread janezkosmr

Does someone know, how to configure cups lpd job options.
My xinet.d config looks like this:

# default: off
# description: Allow applications using the legacy lpd protocol to
communicate w
ith CUPS
service printer
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = lp
server = /usr/lib/cups/daemon/cups-lpd
server_args = -o job-sheets=none,none -o cpi=12
}

The problem is, that it cups ignores the second option under server_args. I
checked the documentation and googled quite a lot, but I couldn't find an
example with more then one option.

[CentOS] samba file locking

2009-09-25 Thread janezkosmr

Hi,
I encountered an interesting problem. We have a Java application on a samba
server. The folder is then shared to the clients via a samba share. So far
it works OK. Until now we had windows clients and everything worked OK. But
now we are trying to Linux clients and this is where the fun starts. When a
developer copies a new jar to the folder which is shared via samba. And if
this copying is done by scp strange things start happening. After a few
clicks the application stops working returning NoClassDeffFound, even if
the file is there and readable. After that it is not enough to just stop
the application, you have to unmount an then mount the share. I tried
turning off oplocks in the samba configuration as suggested in the samba
how-to, but it doesn't fix the problem.
Has anyone seen a similar error?

[CentOS] XEN and PCIPassthru

2009-09-18 Thread janezkosmr

I have an old windows NT machine, that I would like to virtualize under
CentOS and xen. The problem is, that the machine has an old PCI card that
is used for some sensor control. I tried to google the topic, but there
isn't any useful tutorial, how to do this under CentOS. What I found out
is, that I need a machine that supports the Intel VT-d technology and at
least XEN 3.3. Does someone on this list have any real world experience
with this?
