Re: [CentOS] FOSDEM Dojo update, videos

Yeah. I was very disappointed with the final quality of the videos from
that room. Hopefully I can learn from this and make it better next time.
Nothing to be done about it now unfortunately.

If you'd like to help put together a meetup in the London area I'd be glad
to help. I know KB has expressed interest too.

M - Some illumination on the speaker would be advantageous. Perhaps
it would have been better filming/videoing from the right, rather than
the left, side.

Viewing it on my PC (running Centos of course), Mr Singh's talking is
not always distinct. Different types of mic provide different levels of
clarity. A laval mic (clip-on miniature microphone) with better audio
would probably help.

Am interested to know what camera and mic were used.

When is the next presentation in the London/greater London area ?

[CentOS] FOSDEM Dojo update, videos

2018-02-12 Thread Rich Bowen
A big thank you to everyone who attended the CentOS Dojo in Brussels a
week ago. We had about 75 people in attendance (101 registered) and we
had two tracks of great presentations.

If you did not make it to the event, you can still catch all of the
presentations on our YouTube channel, at
https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCentOSProject/playlists Unfortunately,
you miss out on the great hallway track, but there's always next year!

Meanwhile, keep a lookout for upcoming events -
http://wiki.centos.org/Events - and try to attend a dojo near you in the
coming months. And if you'd like to host or help organize a dojo, please
get in touch with me, or with the centos-promo mailing list -
centos-pr...@centos.org - with your suggestions, and we'll try to make
it happen.

[CentOS] FOSDEM Dojo update

2018-01-12 Thread Rich Bowen
As you are no doubt aware, we are once again planning to hold a Dojo at
the Marriott Grand Place on the Friday before FOSDEM starts - Friday,
February 2, 2018.

The schedule for the event may be found at
https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/Brussels2018 and includes two tracks
covering a wide variety of topics.

Attendance at this event is free, but if you plan to attend please
register -
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/centos-dojo-at-fosdem-tickets-41309238043 -
for planning and catering purposes.

For those unable to attend, we will be recording (video) both tracks
this year, and the sessions will be posted to YouTube as soon after the
event as we can manage.

See you in Brussels!

 Great! Found it at http://wiki.centos.org/Events/Fosdem2008

Perhaps, adding a link to this wiki page in the Fosdem section of
www.centos.org is a good idea? Johnny?

I have added the Dstat presentation to the wiki as well.

And before someone asks what Dstat has to do with CentOS, let me add that
Karanbir brought the excellent news that CentOS 5.2 will ship with dstat
in the base packages !

All I can say is: finally ;-)

I guess Karanbir and Dag didn't yet upload their presentations though.
I would be very grateful if they did!

I will get my presentation on there over this weekend.

I think that would be great documentation for some of the topics.

In particular, I wonder what are Karanbir's opinions on "Hosting
custom applications on CentOS 5", I guess I already know what many of
the items will be (package everything in RPMs and manage them with
