I'm looking over the documentation, and I see the -Y/-y options in dhcpd. Maybe there is something worth considering rather than changing DHCP solutions. That's the first I've heard of scaling/performance problems - writing the syslog entries are about the most work it does. What kind of hardware and how much RAM does the server have? The free DHCP solution, ISC, seems to be having scaling issues (i.e. handling only about 200 DHCPDISCOVER and 20 DHCPRENEW requests), and I was wondering if anyone had any open source suggestions of solutions that could scale much better?
