Yup All upgrades / updates in the major versions (5.0 - 5.1 - 5.1) will happen automatically when you run yum upgrade, and when it's officially released for updates. Therefore MANY CentOS users may not have obsoletes=1 set in their yum.conf file Since there is a possible difference, using yum upgrade instead of yum update works for everyone ... yum update may or may not work.
