Thanks for the heads up. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

I haven't noticed any changes on http://wiki.centos.org/Cloud/AWS. Is
this progressing? I know you have been busy. Thanks for everything you
 do.

Karanbir,

I know in irc you mentioned that the images had been updated in
amazon. I do see that there is a 6.5 AMI now. This is great but we had
discussed[1] possibly having a CentOS blessed AMI that contains
cloud-init from epel. I gave the 6.5 AMI a spin and I don't see
cloud-init.

Is an image with cloud-init still part of the plan?

Thanks for everything!

Dusty

Is there any way to get a CentOS AMI with cloud-init already
installed? A new version of cloud-init was pushed recently to EPEL [1]
and would be a great addition to the CentOS AMI so that user-data can
be used to provision systems at boot without having to create a custom
AMI. If you need any help building or testing out new images let me
know.

Thanks,
Dusty

If you want to test, the kernel here should work and has the new driver:

 http://dev.centos.org/centos/6/xen-c6-RC1/

Note: that is a 3.10.18 kernel and is currently in testing, but should
 work on the xen4centos6 repo

Looks like the new kernel is looking for a newer firmware:

bnx2x: [bnx2x_init_firmware:12263(eth0)]Can't load firmware file
bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.8.17.0.fw

Yeah, it looks like the kernel is missing the firmware for your NIC.

[CentOS-virt] Fwd: bnx2x driver in Xen4 kernel

2013-10-31 Thread Dusty Mabe
Hi,

After following the instructions here
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart and installing the
kernel from Xen4 CentOS project
(kernel-3.4.61-9.el6.centos.alt.x86_64) I can't use any networking
because the firmware for my NIC is not available:

Bringing up interface eth0.3: bnx2x :02:00.0: firmware:
requesting bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw
bnx2x: [bnx2x_init_firmware:11696(eth0)]Can't load firmware file
bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw
bnx2x: [bnx2x_func_hw_init:5476(eth0)]Error loading firmware
bnx2x: [bnx2x_nic_load:2118(eth0)]HW init failed, aborting

This seems similar to http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=6513 . Is
this a bug? Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
Dusty
