Re: [ceph-users] ceph-deploy for "deb http://ceph.com/debian-hammer/ trusty main"

2015-11-13 Thread Jaime Melis
Hi,

can someone shed some light on the status of this issue? I can see that
Loic removed the target version a few days ago.

Is there any way we can help to fix this?

cheers,
Jaime

[ceph-users] Looking for people using Ceph and OpenNebula in the NL area

2014-03-04 Thread Jaime Melis
Dear all,

if you are using OpenNebula and Ceph and you'd like to share your
experiences in a presentation using both tools, you might be interested in
attending the OpenNebula Cloud Technology Day that will take place in Ede,
Netherlands, the 26th of March.

http://opennebula.org/community/techdays/ede2014/

Many OpenNebula users report awesome things when it comes to using Ceph and
OpenNebula, so it would be a big deal from everyone to have someone drop by
and share their experiences.

Regards,
Jaime

[ceph-users] Ceph at the OpenNebulaConf

2013-09-11 Thread Jaime Melis
Hello everyone,

As you may be aware, we are holding the first OpenNebula Conference
[1] in Berlin, this 24-26 September. The conference is the perfect
place to learn about practical Cloud Computing, aimed at cloud users,
developers, executives and IT managers to help them tackle their
computational and business challenges. The goal is to foster fruitful
and educational discussions around Cloud Computing and OpenNebula.

We think this is of special interest to Ceph users and developers,
since many OpenNebula users are also part of the Ceph userbase.

There will be a talk about OpenNebula and Ceph among other things by Joel
Merrick from the BBC [2] with the name "Adventures in Research".

Registration closing date is getting closer, so seize the moment and
register now [3]!

The conferences attendees will be in for a treat:

* Keynotes speakers include Daniel Concepción from Produban – Bank
Santander Group, Thomas Higon from Akamai, Steven Timm from FermiLab,
André von Deetzen from Deutsche Post E-Post, Jordi Farrés from
European Space Agency, Karanbir Singh from CentOS Project, and Ignacio
M. Llorente and Rubén S. Montero from the OpenNebula Project.

 * The talks are organized in three tracks about user experiences and
case studies, integration with other cloud tools, and interoperability
and HPC clouds and include speakers from leading organizations like
CloudWeavers, Terradue, NetWays, INRIA, BBC, inovex, AGS Group,
Hedera, NetOpenServices, KTH, CESNET or CESCA.

 * The Hands-on Tutorial will show how to build, configure and operate
your own OpenNebula cloud.

 * The Hacking and Open Space Sessions will provide an opportunity to
discuss burning ideas, and meet face to face to discuss development.

 * The Lightning Talks will provide an opportunity to present new
projects, products, features, integrations, experiences, use cases,
collaboration invitations, quick tips or demonstrations. This session
is an opportunity for ideas to get the attention they deserve.

What's not to like? See you all at Berlin!

The OpenNebula Team

Re: [ceph-users] Ceph and open source cloud software: Path of least resistance

2013-06-17 Thread Jaime Melis
Hi Jens,

with regard to OpenNebula I would like to point out a couple of things.
OpenNebula has official support not just for CentOS but for three other
distros, among which there's Ubuntu, which as far as I know has Ceph and
rbd supported libvirt and qemu-kvm versions.

Also, as far as I know there's a current effort at CentOS to provide an rpm
repo with a full Ceph stack with updated libvirt and qemu-kvm versions
which should be ready by the end of the month. So setting up a working
cluster with Ceph (that works as of now) and deploying newer libvirt and
qemu-kvm version compatible with rbd will be very easy in just a matter of
weeks.

However, from the point-of-view of OpenNebula all of this is pretty much
transparent, the Ceph support is working and as long as you have the
requirements stated above you should be good to go.

regards,
Jaime

[ceph-users] Ceph in OpenNebulaConf2013. Deadline for talk proposals

2013-06-06 Thread Jaime Melis
Hello everyone,

We have just published an extended keynote line-up for the OpenNebula
Conference 2013 (http://blog.opennebula.org/?p=4707) that includes experts
from leading institutions using OpenNebula. The first ever OpenNebula
Conference will be held on Sept. 24-26 in Berlin and is intended to serve
as a meeting point for OpenNebula cloud users, developers, administrators,
builders, integrators and researchers.

I am sending this email to this list because as you all know Ceph is
getting a massive traction in the Cloud Computing world and we are seeing
an increasing amout of OpenNebula users deploying their cloud with Ceph. We
would love to have people from the Ceph user base to speak at the
OpenNebulaConf about their experiences with OpenNebula or about anything
you see fit, such as optimizing Ceph for Virtualization environments, etc.

There is only 10 days left to submit talk proposals (the deadline is June
15th).

http://opennebulaconf.com/proposals/

Looking forward to welcoming you personally in Berlin!

Cheers,
Jaime
