I *think* HD translates to 1900x1200 (or something like that) resolution.
I have my Dell laptop cranked up that high, and some HD video come through.

Update your Video drivers, and plug into the TV with either HDMI or DVI

Ok, so I'm staying with friends and they have a nice 52" rear projection
TV with HD.

I'm having some issues using it as a monitor however.

If I set up my card to put out 480P the image is incredible, and almost
fits on the screen. The nVidia control center doesn't give you controls
to move or stretch the 480P signal and the only resolution you can be in
is 720x480.

When I switch to 1080i out put I can change resolutions like normal, but
much of the desktop is off the screen. I can play with it some to make
it workable, but I'm still missing a lot of real estate if I maximize
windows. Additionally the picture is kind of wavering.

Any suggestions on how to improve my screen view here? Anyone know how
to align a big screen projector? Even when playing from the satellite
there is about an inch lost on all four sides.

I didn't get it until I watched a sporting event in HD. That's where the
extra real estate really comes in handy!

On a side note, Planet Earth in HD was pretty impressive too.

I should get that on bluray when I get around to getting a bluray player for

I have better then 20/20 and it doesn't help me see more pixels on the
screen or progressive scan the image :)

LOL There is a noticeable difference between 1080i and 1080p. Most of the
current Motorolla hd cable boxes only do 1080i anyway so you won't really be
screwed going 1080i.

Also most of the internal components for all LCD/DLP/Plasma are made by the
same companies so you can't really go wrong as long as you have a good
warrenty.

I love my samsung DLP though its a sexy beast. I didn't know what the HDTV
fuss was about until i watched real HDTV.

for me, if I'm looking at consumer reports ratings, and the best
scored TV is 78, and it's $1400, and I'm looking at a TV that scored
63 at $600... I'm probably getting the $600 TV =)

I did kinda the same thing with my Washer and Dryer recently. Weigh
ratings against price to get value, and I think I got a pretty good
deal.

Of course when it comes to TVs, I don't have discerning vision. I'm

Highest was rating a 78 which is expensive (Sony Bravia $1400).

One good thing about Vizio versus some other "off brands" is that
vizio actually has a marketing department. The fact that they
actually advertise (I've heard Vizio ads on sports radio shows) puts
them a step above some of tthe other "who the F*** is that?" brands
like Olevia.

My bro-in-law just bought one this weekend when they moved into a new house
and their old TV wouldn't fit in the built-in entertainment center.

I know next to nothing about TVs, but the picture was clear and sharp. It
"blended" nicely with the rest of the room -- that is to say, it didn't
stick out like a sore thumb/the design of the actual TV is nice.

They got the 32" at Costco for about $600.

So for whatever that's worth!

Subject: Anyone using Vizio HD LCD TVs?

I've seen them in a bunch of places.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Doing some HDTV research on my own, too, just thought I ask the collective.

Also, LCD or Plasma? no space for projection, buying a replacement TV
for small TV/media/game room (currently a 19" tube). recommendations?

Thanks!

If I recall Consumer Reports labeled them as having issues. If I can dig
up the article I will send it to you.
My wife and I just looked in the last maybe 5 months and agreed to stay
away from Vizio models.
