To let you know, I'm a recently retired developer in Oklahoma who is looking
to suplement my pension with web development. No one wants to hire a
mainframe developer who is freelance only. I decided eb development would
give me some freelance work and Cold Fusion seems to be pretty simple
 syntactically.

Also looking at the archives the politics here is a pretty divided. I'm a
social liberal and Native American, so I should fit in with many of you. I
am also a shaman and have risen above traditional gender identification -
thus my email address. In general, that is the extent of my religious
discussion. I will debate politics, but I might suprise you with my attitude.

Re: New to group

I was astounded by the coincidence myself.

Now, what this group needs is for Kiera Knightley to join the group,
profess her undying everlasting love for me and then affirm it by
showing up at my office wearing only a pair of black prada shoes.

Everyone cross your fingers and hope for the law of coincidences to continue.

Muffins. And a hearty welcome.

We've gotten healthier around here, so this week's welcome batch is whole
wheat blueberry muffins with no added sugar. Made with no sugar added
applesauce as a sugar replacement. Absolutely fantastic warm and right out
of the oven. I hope you enjoy :)

Welcome to the list.

I'm a freelancer in CF ... you'll be surprised at how much work you can get.
I hear all the time that CF developers are hard to find, especially in our
part of the world (i.e., the Midwest - I'm in Kansas City), so if you're
good -- you're gold.

Don't let the red hair and freckles fool ya (a gift from my Irish grandma)

Hi Murray ... welcome! I'm relatively new to the list, too (as a
contributing member, at least) ... I stay out of the political discussions
and stay up in the bleachers when it gets too rough and blood starts to
flow. But it's fun to watch.

I'm glad to here that. I picked up a small job training a COBOL developer in
Amarillo. I hope to pick up Cold Fusion fast enough to make some money at it.

I'm a freelancer in CF ... you'll be surprised at how much work you can get.
I hear all the time that CF developers are hard to find, especially in our
part of the world (i.e., the Midwest - I'm in Kansas City), so if you're
good -- you're gold.

My dad was Cherokee and mom was German. He met her in Texas when he worked as
a welder in a shipyard. Right after I was born he worked in Mississippi and
then Mayport. Now they live in Broken Bow. I never got to know my
grandparents, I'm sure were related down the line.

Don't let the red hair and freckles fool ya (a gift from my Irish grandma)
... I just traced my family's history and they're all Cherokees from
Oklahoma (near Tahlequah, naturally) on my grandpa's side, so maybe we're
related (in spirit at least) ;)

I always do. My manatee comment was the pot calling the kettle black. I
worked IT too long. :)

Maybe I can start to run again.

Enjoy your muffins ...

I'm new to the group and wanted to say hello. Looking at the archives I get
muffins if I lurked and came out, so what do I get for introducing myself?

To let you know, I'm a recently retired developer in Oklahoma who is looking
to suplement my pension with web development. No one wants to hire a
mainframe developer who is freelance only. I decided eb development would
give me some freelance work and Cold Fusion seems to be pretty simple
syntactically.

Also looking at the archives the politics here is a pretty divided. I'm a
social liberal and Native American, so I should fit in with many of you. I
am also a shaman and have risen above traditional gender identification -
thus my email address. In general, that is the extent of my religious
discussion. I will debate politics, but I might suprise you with my
attitude.

I am not delusional, I just suffer from apperception
/wiki/Apperception, LOL. I apologized and retracted that part of my
statement as soon as Judah called me out on it. That was a product of
typing out a knee-jerk response and not re-reading as I normally do. ;)

Again, welcome to the community.

Oh, and as Shawna said, if you are in the mid-west and a CF'er, you are
gold. I lived in Fort Worth for about 10 years and NEVER had a problem
finding CF gigs, either perm or contract. I know that Texas is
considered the South (ha ha ah), but I still think of the DFW area as
the mid-west.

I read some of them. Quite entertaining. The recent Atheist thread was fun
to read. I did find the guy who said this country was founded as a Christian
 contry was delusional.

I think I suffer the same. I need to burn my hand before I believe fire is hot.

Thanks.

I'm looking forward to it. I still pick up little FORTRAN and COBOL jobs. I'm
suprised no one still teaches these languages considering how much legacy code
exists.

Well got to run. My wife just got home from work. She is ready to go
shopping. Time to hide my credit cards ;)
