RE: [KCFusion] Cold Fusion Methodologies

2001-12-18 Thread Ryan Hartwich

Nicole,

Last month we had Matthew Jones speak to us at the KC CF user group
meeting (see, you should join us!!!) about Fusebox 3. Originally we
intended to have it be a brief overview, but we asked a lot of questions
and our conversation lasted over an hour. Matthew may be willing to
hold a longer demonstration in January. (hint hint)

Fusebox 3 (www.halhelms.com) seems to be a fairly comprehensive
methodology for coding CF applications and Matthews explanation made it
sound enticing.

Ryan

Thank you for allowing me to share 5 minutes :o) of fusebox stuff, if
you
have any questions about what we talked about, feel free to ask. If I
didn't specifically address the questions you had, I apologize, and will
help in any way I can.

Here again are the links that I gave you, if you are interested.

http://www.halhelms.com great resource for training/sample code (also
has a
link to the fusebox mailing list on topica)

I am using fusebox, and might be able to answer some questions for you, but
for a more informed forum for fusebox you might look at the fusebox list on
topica.
There is a link for joining this list on http://www.halhelms.com
http://www.halhelms.com

I can tell you, IMHO, it rocks. It helps with organization, structure,
reusability, and many other things. It has also evolved quite a lot from
fusebox versions 1 and 2. Additionally, it is FREE. There are tools and
materials you can purchase, but it is not necessary. Also, if you ask on
the fusebox list, you can get hold of the newbie guide to fusebox, which
looks pretty valuable.

Also, the people on the list are very responsive about answering any fusebox
questions that people have.

I am swamped today, or I would write more. If you have specific questions, I
will answer them as best I can.

I am part of a development team that has recently been slapped in the face
with the realization that there must be more structure and standards
involved in our software development cycle. I am investigating
methodologies, and the one that seems to be prominent is Fusebox. Wondering
if anyone is using this sort of methodology. If so, can you provide some
insight regarding pros and cons. If not, what are other shops doing to
manage their development? Appreciate any help or suggestions.

I am sorry I missed the discussion at the user's group. I would be
quite interested in an extended discussion.

Matthew, thanks for your response. I'll check out the resources that
you've provided. If I have questions after that, I will certainly
contact you.
