CF_adbanner

2000-08-27 Thread joseph

I would like to register the cf_addbanner tag I downloaded from the
Allaire site, but the email address for Greg Ludington ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
is invalid

If someone knows his new address, or has a similiar tag, or has a
cf_unencrypt tag (the encrypted version won't let me change the ODBC
name) please let me know.

Odd bug/feature?

2000-08-27 Thread Dana Larose

I just ran into what appears to be a cute little bug in ColdFusion Server
4.5!

I had a file called "view_application.cfm", but whenever I tried to open it,
CF Server would accuse me of trying to open application.cfm or
onrquestend.cfm.

Is this bug, or is view_application.cfm reserved as well?

Subject: Big Search Query problem!

Hi people,

I attempting to build a search facility on my site to search a database.
At the moment I have a 'search' form consisting of 8 fields
(6 select drop down menu choice + 2 text input).
The user is allowed to select / input any number of fields for the search
criteria.
The values are passed to a action template where I have a query to the
database with the following format:

SELECT column1,column2,column3,column4,column5column6,column7,column8
FROM table1

WHERE field1 = '#column1#'

WHERE field1 = '#column1#' AND field2 = '#column2#'

etc...

I have tried to code as many CFELSEIF statements for all the possibilities
of field combinations that a user may select and the related fields which
they don't select.
This is obviously very inefficient coding and I continue to find bugs
whenever I choose a combination of fields that I have not taken account of
in the above CFESLEIF statements.

Are there any suggestions of an alternative to the above CFELSEIF method to
deal with the possibility of a search criteria of anything between 1 to 8
fields??? perhaps by putting the field values selected into a List/ Array
and looping through it with a SQL statement to look for records where Column
name(s) = field name(s) (both have identical names) ignoring columns that
have not been selected in the
search form?

If all this doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to explain it better
:)

Regards.

Parsman

RE: How are CFID and CFTOKEN generated

2000-08-27 Thread Cameron Childress

The CFID is a number incremented by one each time a new one is needed. How
does CF know a new one is needed? Because Client or Session management is
turned on in the CFAPPLICATION tag, and CF didn't get one as a cookie, URL
or Form var when the page was called.

Really, a CFID should be all that is required to identify a session.
Unfortunately, that would make for a very insecure app because user's could
easily "guess" another session's CFID and hijack the session. Therefore, a
CFTOKEN is used to make the CFID harder to guess. The CFTOKEN is a randomly
generated number which provides security against someone guessing a CFID
number. The CFID/CFTOKEN pair is very unique and hard to guess.

Re: UK Moblie Intranet

2000-08-27 Thread CF-Talk

Rif, I know that T-Online in germany is using such a service. (
http://sms.t-online.de )
The only thing you have to pay is the actual SMS delivery. It is even free
if you are a member of T-Online or you have a so called D1 GSM-Account.
I would go and search on the web-sites of big GSM-providers in UK. I don't
know them that well to give you an advice here.
If you want I can send you the cfm-files I produced almost two years ago.
Send me a mail off-line and I send you the files.

Hi Rif, as I still worked with Siemens in germany I did the following:
Certain messages were forwarded to our coldfusion-server. With CFPOP I asked
every 5 minutes or so if there is a new message in the related postoffice.
Then I manipulated the mail-subject and the mail body and send it out to a
SMS-gateway Siemens had internally. So people could receive their Mail or
check mails via SMS.
What you can do is try to access public SMS-Gateways in UK and do the same.
Maybe the providers Orange or BT does have these services.

I hope this helps

RE: DREAMBanner

2000-08-27 Thread Shane Witbeck

Jake,

I am using FuseAds on several sites and I like it. Considering it's
available with source code (199?), it's a good investment. You may have to
play with the code in order for FuseAds to work with the Fusebox method
though. On my fuse sites the page view stats are all index.cfm, but the
click through stats are still accurate as far as I can tell.

Sincerely,

Shane Witbeck

I've tried to get a copy of the CFDREAMBanner program from POLARISMAN but
haven't been able to get in touch with him to demo or even purchase a copy.
The emails I send are returned (which I get from his website.) Anyone have
a copy of his software I can demo? Know where on his site I can download a
copy? I register on his site and it says it emailed me the PW, yet no email
ever arrives.

Anyone used his software? How about FUSEAD? I need some banner software.

Cookie Password?

2000-08-27 Thread paul smith

I was playing with TextDB on my CF 4.5.1 development server and in the
debug info I noticed:

COOKIE=CFID=12343; CFTOKEN=36871430

with a third parameter on this line with Password (I think) in its name
followed by a long string of alphanumerics.

I can't seem to reproduce this.

What was it? Aliens? (Again? ;-)

best, paul

RE: UK Moblie Intranet

That's what I want :-). Just one more thing, how would I find a public
SMS-Gateway ?

Hi Rif, as I still worked with Siemens in germany I did the following:
Certain messages were forwarded to our coldfusion-server. With CFPOP I asked
every 5 minutes or so if there is a new message in the related postoffice.
Then I manipulated the mail-subject and the mail body and send it out to a
SMS-gateway Siemens had internally. So people could receive their Mail or
check mails via SMS.
What you can do is try to access public SMS-Gateways in UK and do the same.
Maybe the providers Orange or BT does have these services.

I hope this helps
