Why is my server in the US ?
I have a 64-bit Adobe CF8.0.1 server on a supported 64-bit Linux O/S and SetLocale() returns 'English (US)', some other seemingly identical systems return 'English (UK)'. And I'd like to know why, so I can make our dev and stage systems say the same thing :-) http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/8/htmldocs/help.html?content=i18n_08.html#1219089 says CF picks up the default Java locale, which defaults to the system locale. On both the systems that say 'US' and the others that say 'UK', the system locale appears to be correct: # locale LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 Neither systems are using -Duser in the CF JVM config. Confused about checkbox handling for Ajax
I understand that a traditional checkbox does not show up on the form if it is not checked and am quite comfortable with setting defaults and processing it. But what about an Ajax implementation where the checkbox is used to trigger the Ajax routine? by default the attribute a binding to form control binds to is VALUE. since you have value=1 in your cfinput, that's the value it always returns, no matter if the checkbox is checked or not. but cf allows you to bind to any attribute! just bind to CHECKED attribute, and it will work: cfselect name=Session1 bind=cfc:OptionSelect.getSessions({Accessible:checked}) bindonload=true / Azadi Saryev Sabai-dee.com http://www.sabai-dee.com/ John Pullam wrote: I understand that a traditional checkbox does not show up on the form if it is not checked and am quite comfortable with setting defaults and processing it. Sorry, my comment about cfhttp was a bad one. cfhttp actually works fine, it will authenticate, but that only helps me if I could like, build the SOAP request by hand, and pass it in using cfhttp, which I can't, due to the service responding with XML, but attaching a binary to the response. :-/ (plus, that sucks worse than compiling the WSDL and using a javaloader) I actually tried setting the Authentication headers, and setSOAPRequestHeader (or whatever), and a few tricks I thought might work, but no joy. @Tom: If I have the WS defined in the admin, I can get to the attachments like this: webservice.runReport(blah blah).getAttachments(); Using cfinvoke (the only way I saw of passing http authentication info), all I get back is the XML response. getSOAPResponse seems like it would do what I want, but it only works if you pass it a WS. Chicken, meet egg (or is that the other way around?). I'm looking for something that's cross CF engine compatible, or else I'd have tried the magic third parameter of createObject(webservice), which I didn't, since I'm testing on Railo, which doesn't have that. And plus, it looks like that magic third param wouldn't set the Authenticate header for the request-- seems more for pure SOAP stuff vs. SOAP + HTTP auth. stuff? Eh. Guess I should tested on Adobe CF first, since these could just be bugs with the way Railo does WS, but I'm almost 100% positive that I already tried doing the same thing with Adobe's engine, and had the same results. Re: ColdFusion vs Sharepoint
Can CF interact with Sharepoint in anyway? We have a CF solution that we can tailor to our clients needs...I am not a SharePoint expert, but I guess I have A LOT more research to do this weekend! The comparison isn't between CF and SharePoint, it's between your solution (which happens to be written in CFML) and SharePoint. If you want to compare CF against something it'd need to be .NET (which is what SharePoint is implemented in), not SharePoint itself. cheers, barneyb ~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:322338 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4
Re: CF Debugger and CF7
Is it possible to debug CF7 with the CF Debugger for CFEclipse that comes with CF8 or is that misinformation? No, it's not possible. RE: File upload suddenly stops working
Brent: Thanks. I have FTP access to the server so I've been able to work with the code but not with the OS or CF Admin. Modifying the code hasn't changed anything so I'm fairly certain it's a server-side (permissions, etc.) issue. -- Mosh Teitelbaum evoch, LLC http://www.evoch.com/ Brent Nicholas wrote: If you have access to the server, try taking the offending code and reducing it to just the bare bones to get it to work while staying in line with what the original code does. Dennis: Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, this is not a client-side issue. The problem appears regardless of the client computer being used. -- Mosh Teitelbaum evoch, LLC http://www.evoch.com/ UXB Internet wrote: We had a case a while ago where a client using a similar cffile upload script/HTML form suddenly couldn't upload files through their admin page. Re: Small scale Twitter Clone for CF?
What, exactly, are you looking for? The simplest form of microblogging is essentially two database tables (user, message), a handful of select/insert queries, and some basic CFML for the UI. That shouldn't take any developer more than an hour, tops. If you want more complexity than that, you'll need to be specific about what you're after. ~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:322343 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4
Re: ColdFusion vs Sharepoint
Further IIRC, Sharepoint typically (always?) has a SQL Server DB behind it and there's no reason why you couldn't touch that DB via CF (at least for SELECTS)... Here're the pros and cons as I see them: *Sharepoint* *Pros* - Does a lot of stuff out of the box (especially intranet/extranet stuff) - Integrates (fairly) easily with other Microsoft software (SQL Server, Exchange, Office, etc) so, if client uses many/most/all of these already... *Cons* - Is more expensive...both for the software and for consulting hours (typically) - Is more difficult and/or expensive to customize (SEE cost of aforementioned consulting hours) *Custom CF solution* * Pros* - Can be built from the ground up to *precisely* meet client's reqs - Is less expensive...both for the software (SEE http://getrailo.com) and for consulting hours (typically)...but client'll need to purchase more consulting hours up-front * Cons* - Will consume days/weeks/months before v1 is done - Something else I can't think of right now :-) On Fri, May 8, 2009 at 2:24 PM, Dave Watts dwa...@figleaf.com wrote: Can CF interact with Sharepoint in anyway?
