Re: (ot) Online Learning Platforms

Moodle works fairly well once installed and configured, but the learning
curve is steep, and the code is complex, so be aware that integrating it
into a CF site will not be without problems.

Not CF if you had that in mind but this has popped up on my radar a couple
of times during research - haven't used it myself (but I have thought about
it) but I think a few universities use it so you'd like to think it can't be
too bad.

Hey all.

Sorry for the OT post, but I'm looking for recommendations on a LMS for a
client.

Any suggestions? I've found a few, but I'm sure there's more that I missed.

Thanks,

MM

I don't think you can flatten the form and expect Reader users to be
able to use any of the fields. I was suggesting earlier that you make
the other fields non-editable in LC Designer rather than flatten the
form.

What exactly does your client need to do with this LMS? You haven't
given us much to go on.

There aren't all that many LMS products out there any more. On the
commercial side, you have Blackboard - they bought up practically
everyone else.

On the FOSS side, you have Moodle.

There are also various products that have some LMS functionality, like
Adobe Connect.

You don't need to stop CF. However, in between uninstalling and
reinstalling, I'd close the web server configuration tool and reopen
it, just to be sure.

When I click "Read More," I go to

cffeed parsing error in CF10 but it works perfectly in CF8

2013-04-25 Thread Edward Chanter

Does anyone know if the cffeed rss parser has changed in CF10? I have a
script that downloads some news headlines via Yahoo's RSS search feature.

On my CF8 server I can parse the feed using cffeed and it all works
perfectly. I ported the script over to the new CF10 server and I get a
parser error.

The feed URL is:
http://news.search.yahoo.com/rss?ei=UTF-8&p="Denis Leary"&fr=news-us-ss

The error I'm seeing on CF10 is:
Unable to parse the feed error: Illegal character in query at index 52:
http://news.search.yahoo.com/rss?ei=UTF-8&p="Denis Leary"&fr=news-us-ss

On CF8 I get the same feed items as I see in my browser when loading the
page manually.

Just wondering if anyone has encountered this before and found a solution?
