RE: Windows 2000??

2000-10-02 Thread Alan Wolf

I've been running Win2K Professional on my laptop and it hasn't crashed
once. The apps may hang but the OS stays up.

How many of you are using Windows 2000 on your pc? I am getting really
tired of win98 problems and are wondering how much better win 2000 is.

Thanks,
Rich

RE: Configuring a Datasource on a Different Server

2000-09-28 Thread Alan Wolf

According to other responses I have received, CF by default does not allow
access to remote shares for security reasons (makes sense), and uses the
local system account. I setup a cfuser account and gave it appropriate NT
permissions to the folder I needed and it works. I'm only doing this until I
can port the database to the Web server and then I will change it back to
the local system account.

I ran into a problem with logins when I did this. In other words, CF is
running as a certain user. That user MUST have access to the remote file.

I'd like to open a thread on what user CF should run as, cuz I'm un certain
about this issues related to it.

Configuring a Datasource on a Different Server

2000-09-27 Thread Alan Wolf

Is there a way to configure a datasource on another server other than the
one CF is running on? I tried \\servername\sharepoint\database.mdb but the
verification failed. The machine is another server in my NT domain. I'm
running CF 4.5.1 on NT 4 SP5 and IIS 4. Thanks.

Help

2000-08-31 Thread Alan Wolf

I have a form that is dynamically populated with user ID's via a cfquery. I
then pass the user id to another form that inserts an inventory request into
a table. I want to return to the inventory request page after the record has
been inserted and once again use the same user id without going back to the
first page. I assume I need to define a variable to pass to the query vs
what is passed the first time around from the form. I've tried the following
code but it always falls through and errors on the #form.userid# line.

SELECT EmpDir.UserID, EmpDir.LASTNAME, EmpDir.FIRSTNAME, EmpDir.Area,
EmpDir.Phone, EmpDir.EMail
FROM EmpDir
where empdir.userid='#userid#'

SELECT EmpDir.UserID, EmpDir.LASTNAME, EmpDir.FIRSTNAME, EmpDir.Area,
EmpDir.Phone, EmpDir.EMail
FROM EmpDir
WHERE EmpDir.userid='#form.userid#'

Sorry for the newbie question but I must be missing something basic. Help
please...

TIA

Alan

Re: 4.51 and CFMAIL

2000-05-10 Thread Alan Wolf

I've noticed that sometimes when a user submits a form that sends mail I get
multiple messages. Once it was over 60 for one submission. Why is this?
Appears to be random and since the mail is addressed only to me I haven't
pursued it although it is annoying. Any suggestions?

Sounds real cool. Porbably buggy as hell. Guess I'm the last guy around
still writing raw html/cfml/asp using God Give Me Strength - Notepad or

But I know the markup language cold.

Reboot? I've got CF running, IIS , Exchange, MTS, SQL 7, ASP stuff going
on, Index Server, all sorts of crap I never reboot unless it's a service
pack on the weekend or something and then it's a hassle with users. Why
would you want to reboot? Perhaps your a closet Blue Screen Queen...
