Re: IE 6 (whistler)

2001-05-03 Thread Alexandre Dornback

Say bye bye to all DOS/3.1/95 and other Non-NT/2000 compliant apps. XP is said not to
support them.

The word is that if 2000 doesn't support it, XP probably won't also.

>>> "Jon Hall" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 05/03/01 14:15 PM >>>
To put it all in one email.

WindowsXP = Finally moving the consumer Windows to the NT codebase,
replacement for WinME/98
WinXP Pro = Like 2000 Professional except it shares the UI with the regualr
XP (ugh)
Win 2002 Server
Win 2002 Adv Server
I do not know what the UI's for 2002 will look like, I am really really
hoping they are similar to Win2k.
The .Net components will not come with any of the operating systems, they
have been delayed. If I remember correctly .Net will be an addon released
later.

RE: CF Studio and UltraDev Merging!

2001-05-03 Thread Alexandre Dornback

My my, how quick we are to assume They are just saying how they offer both those
products. Cold Fusion Studio is not going away in the near future.
Ultra Dev and CF Studio are two products different in many respects. We as developers
need to continue to express our wishes as far as these products go and let Macromedia
know what we want.

Cold Fusion Studio and Ultra Dev will remain two separate products for now. (the word
from Macromedia).

I believe that this is a known CFMail issue and you either need to install a patch or
upgrade to CF4.5.1 SP2.

RE: UPS XML ... CF?

Yes... If you have the correct data and url, you should see the xml code
display by calling the page directly. Usually you must call a template or
post variable to a template for it to return xml to you

Has anyone integrated the UPS XML Shipping data into a CF application or
anyone have any tips on where to start?
I have read through most of the UPS docs, but I seem to be missing some
basic knowledge. I really should pick up a book, but until I go grab one, I
still want to play around with this.

According to the UPS docs the xml is supposed to be posted to
https://www.ups.com/ups.apps/xml/Rate
Yet when I go to that url with my browser or us cfhttp I get page cannot be
displayed...

What I am wondering is can I post xml data and get the response whith
CFHttp?

I've had situations where CF Server gets real unhappy when you mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]
Sent: Monday, February 19, 2001 12:40 PM

Subject: 4.51 going wacko on me-HELP!!!

Hi all. I am working with my shopping cart, which runs beautiful on
4.01. I'm supposed to upgrade a customer running on 4.51 on
virtualscape to my latest version. I just so happened to install 4.51
on my Win 98 development box the other day to make sure all my apps
are up to snuff before upgrading my real server to 4.51. I thought
everything was going well, until now!

Anyway, about every 3rd or 4th time I enter something into the cart,
when overwriting what's in there, I get all kinds of wacky errors.
The pcode errors, parser errors, all kinds of crap. And this:

page=CFTempOnlyForSetVariableNeverUseThisNameInYourCFMLCode122333565
4321

WHAT THE ^%$&^^ IS THAT?!?!

Once that one hits, no cfm pages can be accessed until cfserver is
restarted.

I don't see how it can be the code, because it's nothing fancy where
it seems to be choking.
It's a simple:

newbasket = querynew
queryaddrow
querysetcell (a few cells)

Then I turn it to wddx and save it in the client database.

Then I output to variables.basket right afterwards to show the cart
contents.

I thought since I only had 64 MB RAM, that was probably the problem,
so I ran out and got another 128 MB. No dice. So I installed WebSite
Pro and turned off PWS. Still no dice.

Is this me? Is there a problem with WDDX and 4.51 SP2? Anyone see
anything I'm doing wrong that will help me? I'm supposed to have this
2 or 3 hour job done and uploaded by 6 PM and I've been at it since 4
AM.

I am trying to connect from a Win2K workstation to a Win2k server. The win2k
is running with SP3 and the strange thing is that I have installed installed
SP3 on my machine and rebooted, but when I go to the Sql server 'help' menu
to look up info it only lists SP1 as being installed. Has anyone ever had
this problem, if so what did you do to solve it.

Did you update smdsquery.ini when you create the new user directory?

Advanced Security - CF & CFA_ authentication

2001-02-15 Thread Alexandre Dornback

Invalid User 'myuser' for Security Context 'mysc'.

I have created a security context 'mysc' and a user directory 'mydirectory'
I have assigned userDirectory and mydirectory to mysc.

I've read the knowlege base articles and searched the allaire forums.
I've used the smtest.exe and found the following:
I can connect to the server's CFSM agent and get PROTECTED from the
security context.
I can authenticate using a username and password of a member of the
UserDirectory
I can NOT authenticate using a username and password of a member
mydirectory.

The following is from the smauthentication.log from the SiteMinder console
debugging.

[452-SmObjProvider] Fetching object 'UserDirectory' oid
[452-SmDs] Directory 'mydirectory'
[452-SmObjProvider] Fetching object 'Scheme' oid
[452-SmDs] User 'myuser' in directory 'mydirectory'
[452-SmServAuth] User 'myuser' is not a valid user in user directory
'mydirectory'

** where can I find a code listing?? ie 450, 452 etc... **

RE: Cookies

2001-02-14 Thread Alexandre Dornback

You could create a wddx file and then call back the wddx file... This can
be done as a file on the server or a wddx structure as a value in a cookie
(see
http://www.teamallaire.com/tutorials/index.cfm?fuseaction=display&topicid=03

i assigned the value of the cookie to a client variable for something kinda
similar and it worked. you could also use session var.

Subject: Cookies

Hi All,

I've got code that requests a process from a remote server where the remote
server sets a cookie. What I'm trying to do is post this cookie back to the
server but get the following header with a 501 error.

HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented Server: Microsoft-IIS/4.0 Content-Type:
text/html Via: 1.1 proxy.one.net.au (NetCache 4.1R6) Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001
02:08:41 GMT

page content: Connection failure

I'm using the cfhttp tag with the cfhttpparam to send the cookie.

The process is:

Request the page from the remote server
Extract the cookie
place cookie into a var

cookie to be sent

Is there another way to do this?

Thanks,
Charlie

RE: Intermedia.net

2001-02-12 Thread Alexandre Dornback

I must apologize I have misspoken I was thinking of too many
things at once and reversed myself
Intermedia is great. Their service is wonderful, the people courteous,
and they offer very competitive plans for great prices.

Interland.com is the host I was meaning to mention in a negative
light...

I'm planning on switching my hosting from a completely different host to
Intermedia.

Avoid Intermedia.net

2001-02-12 Thread Alexandre Dornback

Intermedia.net is another host provider to avoid. They don't allow
subdomains under a single account. They also don't allow multiple domains
under one parent account. They charge you full charge for each sub-domain
cname and top-level domain name. Their people are also not very knowlegable
and rude.
