XMLSearch() and Hyphens

2006-02-20 Thread Brian Klaas
Is there any way to pass in an attribute name which contains a hyphen to
XMLSearch and not have that be mis-interpreted by CF as being a subtraction
operation?

So if I have an XML document which contains a child node with the name
"start-date" and use this code:

the value for "start-date" isn't found because CF tries to evaluate
"start-date" (start minus date).

Suggestions?

Re: MAX 2005 - things to do in Anaheim

2005-08-11 Thread Brian Klaas
If you're going to stay a couple extra days, get out of Anaheim/LA proper
and head to the coast. You could go north towards Santa Barbara and San
Louis Obsispo and the Southern California wine country (where much of the
movie "Sideways" was filmed). You could go South and drive along Highway 1
through Huntington, Newport and Laguna Beaches and on in to Dana Point and
Carlsbad and then San Diego. I highly recommend that you spend at least an
afternoon along Highway 1 (in spite of the 5pm traffic jams around Laguna
Beach). It's an awesome drive with great places to stop and eat and drink.

CFFILE and Virus Scanning

2005-07-29 Thread Brian Klaas
What solutions have people put in place for performing anti-virus scans on
CFFILE-based uploads?

There's a relatively old (CF 4.5) CFX tag on the exchange, and there's also
PrismAV for ColdFusion (
http://www.coolfusion.com/products/prismav/prismavforcoldfusion.cfm ). Has
anyone had experience with either of these products?

Many thanks,

brian

X-Drive-like File Management System

2002-05-23 Thread Brian Klaas

I'm looking for a CF-based file management system along the lines of
xdrive.com (with or without the Java interface). Commercial or open-source
solutions are just fine. The goal here is to provide users with an online
file locker in which they can store frequently used files and then share
specific files with other users, if desired.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

More CFGRAPH Fun

2001-12-28 Thread Brian Klaas

I'm having difficulty getting CFGRAPH to output in anything other than a 3:2
aspect ratio.

My CFGRAPH tag looks like this:

The db query/report that I'm graphing has many columns (30+). The graph
renders properly (all the labels are correct as defined in the itemcolumn
attribute), but no matter what I set the graphWidth value to, the graph
stays in a fixed ratio. If I set graphWidth=1400, for example, I just get a
lot of white space around the graph and the graph is in proportion to the
value set in graphHeight.

I don't want a graph that's 1600 pixels tall (trying to prevent eggregious
scrolling on the part of the user), but the graph becomes illegible when so
many items are crammed against one another in such a small space. I've
reduced the display font (via the itemlabelsize attribute) about as small as
it can go and be legible to our users. Limiting the number of items graphed
won't help much for the report, as the full scope of available items must be
seen together for the report to make any sense (just as if you're presenting
a report which tracks activity on your site in 24 hours, you wouldn't want
to drop midnight-6am from your report).

Any ideas/workarounds/suggestions? Is this a limitation of the Flash output
from CFGRAPH?

Many thanks,

brian

OT: cfx Spell Check Tags

2001-12-21 Thread Brian Klaas

Has anyone had experience with either ActivSpellCheck from CFDev.com or Ben
Forta's cfx_spell? I wanted any available feedback on either of the
products: stability, dictionary quality/size, UI issues.

Please feel free to email me off list.

Many thanks,
