CF for Linux

2000-10-03 Thread Brian bouldernet

Has anyone started or completed a Unix release using any hardware based
failover solution such as BigIron of F5s?
What is everyone's experience thus far with CF Linux?
We are looking at deploying a very large scale solution of 6 clusters all
running Linux based CF and Oracle backend. Allaire gives the standard
unreachable contacts.

well what i want to be able to do is like show a random quote from a table
of quotes

Now some may be deleted, some may be added, in which the

would not work because the "ID" numbers in the table would be changing, is
there a way to specify like a certain Row number in my SQL WHERE statement?

like...

SELECT *
FROM Quotes
WHERE ***TableRow = Random Row***

can that type of function be completed???

Parsing, and assigning variables.

2000-10-06 Thread Brian bouldernet

Parsing a returned value set.

I am getting something like"
Name: Joe Smith

Company: Joe
Blow Tires "
sen to me... is ther a way to parse out everyiny thing but :
Name: Joe Smite
Company: Joe Blow Tires

The left amount of character before the first is dyanmic so I don't see how
I could take off the left?
The major goal is to have Joe Smit and Joe Blow Tires end up as variable..

Thanks,
Brian

CGI Referrer variable stream and AOL crap.

2000-10-10 Thread Brian bouldernet

They change Internal IPS only. The tunneling protocol is to allow for
standard as possible IP holding... We have a complete tracking solution in
use at Altavista and Shockwave and we do it all through header and IP
tracking... Works great... if you see the same banner 3 times and don't
click you don't get that type of product/service and advertiser in any email
from DoubleClick or Us. We call is Boomerang.

Read up on all the crappy changes like blocked Cold Fusion Application
server, and all that... http://webmaster.info.aol.com/

And it's run on Cold Fusion Who said Allaire was going out of biz... Mr.
Case can just buy us all up and the we'll all be happy AOLers... ..

More AOL mayheim NO!!!!!!!!!!!

2000-10-11 Thread Brian bouldernet

I think to have any knowledge of AOL's cache control we have to a subsidiary
of AOL/Time Warner or a possible investment...

After testing HTTP control is in use for all intensive purposes. But it
seems the caching only start for a 6 hour period on that subnet.. For
instance if you dial up and at the time you have IP 1.1.1.1 the cache/proxy
server 1.1.1.2 has it for 6 hours where http caching is not listed. If you
then dialed up and got IP 2.2.2.1 you wouldn't see the 5 hour 59 min. old
data because 2.2.2.2 had cached it again...
SAFE way:
Use a HTTP control based caching...

Developer Directory?

2000-10-11 Thread Brian bouldernet

We've created a directory of about 1200 developers from talk graoups,
confrences, and what not, does anyone see any major issues emailing everyone
to ask to modify a profile we have setup and make live on a site that rates
each one based on customer satisifaction and developer strengths like
Spectra, CF, Database skills. All on a opt in procedure currently.

Are there any existing directories?

Thanks,
Brian

Re: Developer Directory?

2000-10-11 Thread Brian bouldernet

All great things are realized great until the "flack" is at it's worst
Most Recently.
Napster, NetAppliance, WAP, Cicso, NDS..

We'll see guys... I promise no spam... Our group came from a email marketing
company we sold out to double click. optinemail.com...

We inatied the AOL hell thread because of the way AOL reparses doublequoted
links in all email so they have exclusive linking in emails.

Our goal. To be directory for other developers doing there own thing to
focus on their expertise.. Cold Fusion, Spectra whatever. The lets say a
flash developer need function There you go

Later,
Talk to you later...

Re: Developer Directory?

2000-10-11 Thread Brian bouldernet

Only if you opted never to receive a mailing from our Company is that law
applicable. ... We get our names from Internet related companies that have
strict privacy policies that only give us names of those who are internet
development related and want other information... FYI all outbound emails
have a opt out completely link and we send that through XML to the partner
who gave it to us... That way 2 birds with one stone... The business we have
built is the prism of incorporation to individuals who want to focus on
their own technologies. Not learning and keeping up with every type of
technology. This conclusively makes each persons experience rise in worth.
The purpose of the Original posting was to open valid conversation
concerning opt in procedures... Is preferences enough? I think that no
matter what solution the FTC and the Senate decides, it will be one of
solidarity... But to be clear if it happened continually to a recipient
who's ISP resides in CA; the fee is only $50.

Developer Directory Real Deal

2000-10-11 Thread Brian bouldernet

I think those who are not interested should be sparred the burden of reading
all this so if necessary, and I think it is; I'll setup a egroups and we can
go from there. If it's urgent reply directly...

Hi guys here's the best way to put it on how DC is working now. I apologize
if any concepts and/or statements came off to be a
inappropriate. Like I mentioned before the topic of discussion was not ,
"is this type of idea Spam" or not. For all good intents and ouroises the
purpose and goal was just to determine if as developers agree with the type
of BENEFITS provided at places like
http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/entry.jsp with a privacy policy of
http://www.shockwave.com/bin/shockwave/entry.jsp?page=/aboutus/privacy.html

They use:

Help us tailor the content, services, goods, and advertising that we provide
on shockwave.com (and related sites) to your current and future needs.
Alert you via e-mail to new features, special offers, updated information,
and new services.

Some other pushing Privacy areas ore Everyone.net, Topica and TShipley if
your intrested...

Rest assuured you would not receive any email or notification of any kind
relayed, created, or stored with any type of personal, transactional, or
demographic data included from our organization... The technology works like
this. So listen up this is what we did at DC. We alais all outbound email so
it bounces and returns to a alais address at the company. The batched back.
That way if you opted out of anything at say Shockwave you would then knoe
the vendor.. Allthough the sender and data is physically in Colorado and
Manhattan you up out of Level1 Database of Shockwave ain San Fran... I
apologize is I relayed the technology in a defferent light... Thus us on the
ASP service model and all data through multiple vendors is centralized

I have a bunch of IP numbers stored in a VarChar field in SQL7. When I sort
them, it sorts like text, as it should, with not great results. Is there a
quick and easy way to get the IP numbers to sort like a number?

Re: Load Testing Softwares

For Load and redundancy testing we use Segue Silk Line of Products. I think
they have some sort of cross selling deal with Allaire. I think based on
their client list and history in the market (Pre-CF) they are the long term
solution and therefore valid to pick up.

any one have a recommendation/ list of load testing softwares with estimated
prices for this purpose? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
We are currently looking towards e-test suite from RSW Software. I am aware
of SilkPerformer and Load Runner but do not prices/features of the software.
Our budget is around $10,000/-

Re: jr CF

2000-11-12 Thread Brian bouldernet

I'd have to disagree. The type of employment you would want wouldn't be a
varying type... Since you're starting out focus on quality not quantity.
Otherwise you'll get a position you can't hand;e... You should focus on
taking a basic skillset and setting it a fire... Then look at broading that
strong skillset...

My 2 cents..

My advice:

Setup a web site which demostrates your skills. If you can demonstrate that
you are knowledgeable about EVERY CF tag in the book, I'm sure you'll get a
