cfloop vs cfoutput mx 6.1 / 7
Can anyone tell me if there is a performance difference in the following 2 bits of code? I know back in 4.5 cfloop was worse than cfoutput but now? Any web references to tests on these things welcome! Thanks. Re: Outlook & Coldfusion
We use VCS calenders on our site for prosective buyers to download open house times etc. Its a simple VCS file and you can extend it to a vCal - although it gets tricky. www.mcgrath.com.au - find a sales property and if it has open houses the outlook link will come up. Let me know if you want the code and I can forward this on. 7 Install problems
Hi, Trying to install/upgrade 7 from 6.1 and I keep getting the following error in the mminstal log: ANT Script Error: Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - standalone.xmlUnable to delete file C:\CFusionMX7\CFIDE\classes\cfapplets.jar Ran the jwebserver config tool and am now getting this error when trying to access the administrator: Could not find the included template include/udflibrary.cfm. Note: If you wish to use an absolute template path (e.g. TEMPLATE="/mypath/index.cfm") with CFINCLUDE then you must create a mapping for the path using the ColdFusion Administrator. Using relative paths (e.g. TEMPLATE="index.cfm" or TEMPLATE="../index.cfm") does not require the creation of any special mappings. It is therefore recommended that you use relative paths with CFINCLUDE whenever possible. Please try the following: Enable Robust Exception Information to provide greater detail about the source of errors. In the Administrator, click Debugging & Logging > Debugging Settings, and select the Robust Exception Information option. Check the ColdFusion documentation to verify that you are using the correct syntax. Search the Knowledge Base to find a solution to your problem. Re: Business Case for a 4.5 -> 7 upgrade
Thanks everyone for your enormous amount of help. I have a decent document now with a lot of information on 4.5 and the changes that have been made through till 6. We are a real estate company and our cf apps manage 5 websites, and the internal listing management system is on cf 4.5 too. We struggle everyday with reliability and availability of this system which is available via a WAN to 400 people in 7 offices around the city. Naturally we have a lot of accounting in there too and a lot of reporting for the board and Chief officers. This is something we have trouble with now and 7 will make it so much easier to manage. Question: does 7 allow for OLAP cube manipulation? The company is on the verge of purchasing zaptech's bi suite and I wounder if we may be able to save and so it ourselves. Also they are looking at Xcelsius 3.5 - I also wonder if we can create these dashboards now with 7. Thanks! Business Case for a 4.5 -> 7 upgrade
Hi everyone, I have taken the opportunity to strike on the new version of CFMX and get the ailing company I work for to drag themselves into the new century with a spanking new version of CF. This means getting the money out of the Board and convincing them that its worth it, by means of a business case documentation. Now we run our internal mission critical app on 4.5, our intranet on 6.1 and 5 odd websites on 4.5. We have CF server crashes more than you can imagine, and I hope 7 will be able to go some way to helping us out. As you can all imagine we fight on a daily basis with the server, reporting and pagination etc etc The reasons I have so far (which I would like verified): Multiple instances of the server can be clustered - in effect performing failover - therfore reliability improved reporting using flash multi part forms in flash with tabs Printability in flash and pdf generation development time decreased ability to move into apps via sms, and onto mobile devices better comm via web services. Are there any other really good reasons (from a Chief Exec level) that would be great to convince them to change? I hope this will promote a bit of dialogue, I am certainly interested as to what great reasons I can give. I have found that we had cache web server paths checked in the Server Administrator. Now the different sites are running the correct versions of the code, but they are still sharing the applications vars. I cant find anything in the cf admin that could be making this happen. My application.cfm now sets the app name dynamically: and the request.appmapping is returning the correct info. Then in myGlobals.cfm: But both applications overwrite the others info when I refreshvars or restart CF services. Please can anyone help me out? I am about to have a breakdown. application and path problem 2 environments on one machine
I have a dev and production environment on one server, and I am trying to work on each independantly, but they seem to be overlapping each other. LDAP and Active Directory Problem
I am trying to use cfldap to query AD and get the username and password of the users and some other personal details out. Heres my ldap bit: I am using cfdump after this to chuck out the results. Now I get info in sn, givenname, telephoneNumber, mail, department and company, but none of the variants of username or password seem to hold the most important bit of info. Can anyone tell me what I should be asking AD for in order to get the username / password back? What I am aiming for is 2 things: 1) to use AD as the company intranet phone book 2) to use AD as the login for the intranet The other thing is that its really slow - 23375 milliseconds to do cfldap and cfdump. Wat would be the possible causes of this? Re: CFQUERYPARAM issue
OK, I discovered that a) I posted in the wrong bit of the debug - the query after it was the one affected. The fact that it had the ? on it threw me a bit and stopped me looking at other causes, so I am afraid I jumped the gun rather. b) There was a problem relating to data and what was being passed, that once I fixed, things seem to be working fine now. > 1) Shouldn't the cfqueryparam value be "#URL.cotid#" and not Attributes ? No - fuseBox pushes form and URL into attributes on every request so you dont have to mess around when you change a form to get / post. While I am here - I have read that using cfqueryparam gives a performance gain over not using it - is there any proof or technical data out there? An explanation over why/how it makes a query faster? CFQUERYPARAM issue
I have just started to adopt something that I have seen on this list cfqueryparam, amongst a host of other best practices that I have been picking up whilst reading here. My query looks like this: select con_id, con_title FROM wwwContent WHERE cot_id = with cotid coming in from the URL. but I get no results and the debug looks like this: getChildren (Datasource=MPlus_dev, Time=0ms, Records=14) in C:\Development\mars.mcgrath.com.au\live\content\model\qry_getChildren.cfm @ 14:50:12.012 select con_id, con_title FROM wwwContent WHERE cot_id = ? Query Parameter Value(s) - Parameter #1(cf_sql_integer) = 63 If I remove the cfqueryparam it works fine and I get one row returned. WTF?? SQL Query matching dates
Hi everyone, Just having a mental block here and I wonder if you could help me out? I am writing a library app, very simple, and we are allowing users to book out an item by selecting 2 dates (startDate and endDate). My problem is the query to check if the dates they selected are available. I need to make sure the startDate isnt in between any existing bookings start and end date, the same with the endDate. Also make sure that the users startDate andendDate arent eclipsing any one elses bookings. Now I think I started on the right track, but something aint right: SELECT * FROM LibraryBooking WHERE lib_item = #attributes.lii_id# AND ( (lib_StartDate >= #startDate# AND lib_StartDate <= #startDate#) OR (lib_EndDate >= #endDate# AND lib_EndDate <= #endDate#) ) Thanks in advance! Verity 'caching' old docs
Hi all, I have a verity collection of company policies that are divided up into folders. IE - is a folder and any policies that start with 0 would be placed into that folder - 1000 folder would contain any policies that began with 1 etc My problem is - I delete a policy from lets say folder 4000 then re-index this Policy folder - which contains all the subfolders of , 1000 etc (I have subdirectories selected). I go to our web site and do a search for the specific policy number - 4526.1E1 and no files are found. GREAT - well then I try doing a search for 4526.1 and poof its still there and showing up as page can't be displayed. (That would be because its not there.) What am I doing wrong in my indexing? Re: Update multiple rows
So you put each of your rows in a table and at the end of each row put a hidden field in with a unique identifier - like the primary key of the table. As Tony says when this is all posted you will get a load of comma separated lists. You can then do listtoarray on each of these then loop through the identity values. As you loop through them stick the query tag in to update that row with the corresponding elemnt in the other arrays. ~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Gold Sponsor - CFHosting.net http://www.cfhosting.net Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:184520 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
