Wei,

look at
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19120
http://tutorial351.easycfm.com/
http://www.robisen.com/index.cfm/2006/5/26/Monitoring-performance-on-ColdFusion-for-J2EE-Multiserver--Outputting-metrics-to-CVS
http://www.bpurcell.org/blog/index.cfm?mode=entry&entry=991

getMetrics is not avaiable at all in the multiserver config. Robi Sens's entry
above describes how to get the data output so you can import into excel if you
need graphs and such.

What I think that technote does is tell you how to get equivalent metric data
out of Jrun and into a log file, which you can't consume in ColdFusion (without

I am using MS-SQL, I couldn't get this to work..

I tried, patindex,charindex, like combinations, none worked.

I have directory paths in a table, given a starting path of a directory, I want
to get its first level elements.

eg:

table has
warranty\a\1.jpg
warranty\a
warranty\a\2.jpg
warranty\a22
warranty\a-23

I want to get warranty\a,warranty\a22,warranty\a-23

I tried all combinations, it doesn't work (correctly). I actually get only
warranty\a, but don't get the other two (which makes me thing it is because of
the numbers in the string.. but doesn't make any sense). Please help

Thanks for your time.

Subject: Querying for MAX of join table

I have a table that is something like :

+ id
+ sort
+ contact_id
+ office_id

This is a many-to-many join table joining contacts and office. What I would
like to do is get a query of that that has only the record with the top SORT
for each contact_id.

So if I had the data:

Id  sort   cotnact_id   office_id
-  -
11  40 1
21  57 1
32  57 2
41  63 5

I would end up with:

Id  sort   cotnact_id   office_id
-  -
11  40 1
21  57 1
41  63 5

Getting rid of record (id:3) since it has sort 2 and I only want the top sort
for contact (id:57).

I know I can do stuff with sub queryies and what not, but I was hoping there
was a more elegant solution with grouping or something.

Thanks!

Not getting good results from this:

SELECT COUNT (customer_orders.corder_id) as TOTOT,
client.company
FROM
customer_orders
JOIN
customer_orders_prod on customer_orders.corder_id =
customer_orders_prod.order_id
JOIN
inventory on customer_orders_prod.product_id =
inventory.service_id
JOIN client on inventory.client_id = client.id

WHERE customer_orders.orderdate BETWEEN #createODBCDate(start9)# AND
#createODBCDate(DateAdd('D', 1, end9))#
and corder_active = 1
GROUP BY company

Each inventory item is tagged with a client ID. There is the order table,
which is the summary, and the orders_prod table which is all the line items of
inventory.

My need is a report of orders by client_id.

This query seems to give me more than if I just ran the total of orders.
I only need to get one item from the order items to determine the client
company.

This shows me maybe 14,000+ for one client, when I know the total orders to be
12,000+.

Thanks!!

3 developers on 3 Windows XP workstations Mapped network drive to the

I've started reading the svn-book, and so far understand everything. The
'Working Copies' deal is what I'm most unclear on. Would each developer need to
run CF locally (developer version) so they can edit and test their 'Working

Any tips would be most appreciated.

Stas,
Seems to me your local mechine doesn't have the East Asian Languages' package
installed, so the mechine only displays blocks for japanese characters .

If you are using MSSQL 2000/2005 and setup the propery collation, the data
(japanese characters) in the table should be fine. You can test it by pulling
the data out and displaying in html, please make sure to use

I am managing an ecommerce app and we are attempting to add Japanese text
descriptions for the products. Currently, I am just doing a test of concept
type of thing. I added another table that has an FK to products as well as the
alternative description column. Our Japanese partner has supplied us with an
Excel file containing descriptions in katakana which view fine in Excel.

I set the description column's type to nvarchar and set its collation to be
Japanese_BIN, however, when I try to paste the Japanese text into it, only some
of the Roman characters are visible (as the the descriptions have things like
"100% cotton"), but the Japanese characters are displayed as blocks.

Could someone point me in the right directions?

Thanks,

Subject: Need help with tricky XPath syntax

Howdy --

I'm having difficulty crafting a tricky XPath expression and would appreciate
help from any XPath gurus out there.

Sample document:

Provost
Residents

HR
Provost
UMA

I need an XPath expression that will extract the array of elements
with Active Provost sponsorship.

Applying the expression I seek against the above document would yield a
one-element array containing only the second element from the
document.

Extracting the elements with Provost sponsorship is trivial:

/IDMS/identity[sponsorship='Provost']

The tricky part seems to be restricting the selection to only the *Active*
Provost sponsorships.

I've tried a zillion permutations on the following as the second argument to my
XMLSearch() call, but none of my experiments has worked right yet:

/IDMS/identity[sponsorship='Provost' and [EMAIL PROTECTED]'Active']]

I've looked through all the XPath tutorials I could find but couldn't find an
answer to this question (at least, not an answer I could understand). Looking
at some complex examples I've found in some tutorials, I've gotten a vague
sense that somehow "id()" and "self::" are going to be involved in a solution,
but otherwise I'm just totally lost.

Greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide.

I just noticed that if there is a var exceptionVariable for the catch block in

This used to work on cfmx7.
Does this mean no need to var exceptionVariable for the catch block in a cfc?

Try this:

You can take a look at this:

It has HTTP service, so could be implemented in colfusion pretty easily.

Hello all,
A client of mine is having a hard time with credit card fraudstars placing
orders with stolen cards.
At this time the client is collecting IP address of every customer placing an
order but is having to check each ip address manually to determine the source
country.

What is the easiest way to track country / city from customer ip address
programmatically in real time with CF?

Thanks in advance,

Subject: transmitting XML using CFHTTP

I need to transfer some data from our server to another server with a packet of
XML. The transfer will send a string of plain text (XML), must be done with an
encoding of application/x-www-form-urlencoded and a method of POST.

I thought that cfhttp could do it, but I can't find where I can change the
encoding and it appears that cfhttp HAS to send information with a variable
name. This transmittion doesn't need a name, just the information sent to it.
Is this possible with cfhttp?

Here's the PHP we're using for comparison:
socket = fsockopen($host, $port) or die('could not open ssl socket for
DOMAIN'); fputs($this->socket, $request) or die('could not put to ssl socket
for DOMAIN'); [EMAIL PROTECTED]($this->socket, 4096);

if (strStr($results,'1')) {
// success code here
} else {
// failure code here
}

?>

By the way, this is my first post on this list, so "hi".

Subject: problem loading a JSP tag library into CF

I've had a problem loading a JSP tag library. (CFMX7 developer) The livedocs
say:
Put the tag library, consisting of the taglibname.jar file, and the
taglibname.tld file, if one is supplied, in the web_root/WEB-INF/lib directory.
The JSP custom tag library must be in this directory for you to use the
cfimport tag.
Restart ColdFusion.
In the ColdFusion page that uses a JSP tag from the tag library, specify the
tag library name in a cfimport tag; for example:
 If the TLD file is
not included in the JAR file, use the .tld suffix in place of the .jar suffix.

(i restarted CF between all of these steps) The jar I'm trying to load
(http://209.61.157.8:8080/taglibs/) has a tld file in it. I first tried the
above and got the message:
Could not import the tag library specified by
"/WEB-INF/lib/ditchnet-tabs-taglib.jar".
The following error was encountered: Tag Library Descriptor not found.
Please ensure that you have specified a valid tag library.
I then pulled the tld out of the jar and put it into the lib directory too...
same error I then downloaded the jstl.jar and standard.jar from apache (as the
taglib's docs instruct) and i get... same error I tried the last comment from
the livedocs and changed my cfimport to at which point i
get a 500 error:
500 javax/servlet/jsp/tagext/SimpleTagSupport

I downloaded the random taglib from apache and used the code from livedocs and
that worked :(

The docs for this taglib say that:
The Tabs Taglib has only been tested with the Apache Tomcat servlet container
v5.0.28. A servlet container that implements at least the JSP 2.0 spec and the
Servlet 2.3 spec will be required.

What version jsp and servlet does CF7 support?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this taglib to work? (or any other
taglibs that will provide an html equivalent of what the flash forms tabs
provide)

Anthony

RE: Using JavaMail to send/fetch emails via SSL

2005-08-30 Thread Hua Wei
Paul, thanks for the suggestion.

I've searched the forums and googled the web, and seems authentication function
is needed for sending emails. My impression is that sending email is more
complicated, as a function getPasswordAuthentication needs to be overridden.
Not sure how to port that to coldfusion.

=
Session session = Session.getDefaultInstance(props, new Authenticator(){
  protected PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication() {
  return new PasswordAuthentication(username, password);
  }});

As for fetching emails, seems the following java code is needed to handle the
ssl settings, I ported to coldfusion, but didn't work.

==
Security.addProvider(new com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider());
  final String SSL_FACTORY = "javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory";

  // Get a Properties object
  Properties props = System.getProperties();
  props.setProperty("mail.pop3.socketFactory.class", SSL_FACTORY);
  props.setProperty("mail.pop3.socketFactory.fallback", "false");
  props.setProperty("mail.pop3.port", "995");
  props.setProperty("mail.pop3.socketFactory.port", "995");

it's been a while since i looked at SSL but if i recall correctly to
authenticate SSL in javamail you need to create & pass in an authentication
function. i'm at home, no access to any code but if you search the javamail
section on jguru or sun's java mail forums there should be examples.

Subject: SOT: SQL Concatenation

Sorry for this, but I've lost my mind this morning. Please is someone could
tell me how to do this I would be forever grateful.

SELECT billToAddress1 + ' ' + billToAddress2 AS billToAddress
FROM   tbl_orderHeader_archive

If the billToAddress2 column is null or empty this select statement returns
empty. Can someone please tell me how to have it return the billToAddress1 and
billToAddress2 concatenated even if the billToAddress2 is empty or null?

Thanks
Bryan

As long as jobNumber is not a unique field, the query works.

select count(*) as numofjobs,
  convert(char(10),logdatetime,101) as DTLOGGED,
  jobPriority,
  jobNumber
from jobs
where logdatetime >= '02/01/2005'
and logdatetime <= '02/02/2005'
group by convert(char(10),logdatetime,101), jobPriority, jobNumber

===
Here is a test:

create table jobs (
jobid int identity,
jobPriority int,
jobNumber varchar(30),
logdatetime datetime)

insert into jobs(jobPriority,jobNumber,logdatetime)
values(3,'01JS1003','02/01/2005')

insert into jobs(jobPriority,jobNumber,logdatetime)
values(3,'01JS1003','02/01/2005')

insert into jobs(jobPriority,jobNumber,logdatetime)
values(2,'01JS1004','02/01/2005')

numofjobs   DTLOGGED   jobPriority jobNumber

Which will of course return a job count of 1 for each row, since it is grouped
by jobNumber.

To get the result set you want, if your DB supports it, you will need a
referential subquery something like this:

select j.jobPriority, j.jobNumber, (select count(*) as numofjobs from jobs
where jobs.logdatetime = j.logdatetime) from jobs j where j.logdatetime >=
#startdate# and j.logdatetime <= #stopdate#

This assumes that logdatetime is just a date, not a date and time - you might
need to convert to a date part only in the subquery so the equality holds true.

Subject: sql select statement help..

Hello everybody, I really need someone to help me here. I'm developing a
graphical interface to report the no of jobs logged in a period. The x axis
displays the period (days) and the y-axis displays the number of jobs logged in
a given day.

The data is pulled from the jobs table. The job logged date value is stored in
the logdateTime column. I've written a stored procedure to get the count of
jobs logged in a given day. Here is the code.

 EXEC countJobsLogged
@startdatedate = '2005/02/01', @stopdate = '2005/02/28'

CREATE proc countJobsLogged @startdate datetime, @stopdate datetime

as

set nocount on

declare @x datetime,
 @count int

create table #temp_report(
 dtlogged varchar(15),
 jobsCount int
)

select @x = @startdate

while @x <= @stopdate
begin
 select @count = isnull(count(1),0) from jobs  where logdatetime >= @x +
'00:00:00' and logdatetime <= @x + '23:59:59'

 insert into #temp_report
 values(convert(varchar(15),@x,106), @count)

 select @x = dateadd(d, 1, @x)
end

select * from #temp_report

drop table #temp_report

set nocount off
GO

The above sp loops from the user selected start date to the user selected end
date and returns a recordset showing the no of jobs logged. Ex

JOBSCOUNT   DTLOGGED
2   01 Feb 2005
3   02 Feb 2005
4   03 Feb 2005

So far so good. I want to modify the select stmt in that I want it to also
return the jobPriority and the jobNumber (these are columns in the job table)
for jobs that it found logged on a particular day.

So for example if say for ex, there are 2 jobs logged on the 01 Feb 2005, I
want the final recordset to look something like this

JOBSCOUNT   DTLOGGEDjobPriority jobNumber
2   01 Feb 2005 3   01JS1003
2   01 Feb 2005 2   01JS1004
3   02 Feb 2005 4   01JS1005
3   02 Feb 2005 4   01JS1006
3   02 Feb 2005 5   01JS1016
4   03 Feb 2005 1   01JS1018
4   03 Feb 2005 2   01JS1020
4   03 Feb 2005 3   01JS1021
4   03 Feb 2005 4   01JS1022

I was hoping someone could show me the sql to achieve this result

Best regards
cfcoder

Coldfusion mx7 run as root on redhat linux AS3

2005-02-17 Thread Hua Wei
Hello all,

I installed coldfuson mx7 enterprise trial version on redhat linux AS3 machine,
selected multiserver configuration, configured apache (Apache 2.0.46) as the
web server, the installation went well.

During the installation, I tried apache (also tried nobody) as the runtime
user, but after the coldfusion server started, the cfusion process was run by
root. I did a file upload test, the uploaded file was also owned by root.

Did I miss something during the installation?
is there to way to change the coldfusion process not run by root?

Thanks for your help.

however, for milliseconds, the maximum number datediff can produce is 24

ISO-8859-1? You are in the UK but you are trying to use a charset
that doesn't even have the euro symbol?

Bite the bullet and convert everything to unicode.

RE: SQL Find

2004-08-02 Thread Hua Wei
In MS SQL, you can use CHARINDEX,PATINDEX and STUFF :

CHARINDEX: Returns the starting position of the specified _expression_ in
a character string

PATINDEX: Returns the starting position of the first occurrence of a
pattern in a specified _expression_, or zeros if the pattern is not found,
on all valid text and character data types.

Deletes a specified length of characters and inserts another set of
characters at a specified starting point.

Does SQL Server have an function similar to CF's "Find"
string function. I need to parse 150,000 names depending on where the
comma is in the string and update each record. Not a great task for CF.
I'm aware of the substring command but it needs to know what position
the comma is in.

give them a backup of it that they can work with. My first thought was
OK but then I started thinking about it. I don't like the thought of
some one having a complete copy of my database.

Here's my question. Wouldn't it be better to just create a user account
that has read only access to the tables that they will be working with?
The app they are writing only needs read access and I can kill the
account when they are done. To me, it seems more secure doing it this
way.

Thoughts?

SQL="select filename FROM dbo.Attachment WHERE id = '#url.id#'"

This was the error I was getting before I made the above change:

And this is what I get now:

SQL:select filename FROM Attachment WHERE id = '01057870'
SQLExecDirect Failed szSqlState = S0002 pfNativeError = 208 szErrorMsg =
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name

pcbErrorMsg = 97

Notice the difference in the pcbErrorMsg value. Does that tell you
anything?

RE: Web Services and CFMX6.1 -- Why doesn't it work?

I tested on my server, it worked. So the code is fine. You may want to
check your server config.

Subject: Web Services and CFMX6.1 -- Why doesn't it work?

I'm at my wit's end here, folks.  I don't know why my idiotic "hello
world" web service just isn't working.  Here's a path to my madness:

helloworld.cfc

returntype="string" output="false">

working.">

---

hello_component.cfm (to check if the CFC is working)

 method="getMessage"
 returnvariable="aString">

#aString#

Output: Hello Bozo, web service is working.

---

helloworld.cfc?wsdl

Output: works fine, displays the XML

---

hello.cfm

 method="getMessage"
 returnvariable="aString">

#aString#

Output:

Could not generate stub objects for web service invocation. Name:
http://localhost/ws/helloworld.cfc?wsdl. WSDL:
http://localhost/ws/helloworld.cfc?wsdl. org.xml.sax.SAXException: Fatal
Error: URI=null Line=1: Missing whitespace before SYSTEM literal URI.

--

What the hell am I doing wrong?  Any ideas?

RE: CFMX JRun Services on Windows 2000

2004-04-13 Thread Hua Wei
Adam,

You can try this command to add a CF server service on Windows:
{Jrun_home}\bin>jrunsvc -install cfusion2 "Macromedia JRun CFusion2
Server" "Macromedia JRun CFusion2 Server"

Subject: CFMX JRun Services on Windows 2000

CFMX for J2EE, Windows 2000.

I've got a number of CF instance running on the server. However only 3
services are running connected to JRun. Admin, Default, and CFusion.
(The 3 default instances jrun creates when you install CF)

When the server is rebooted, only the 3 default services are restarted.
All other instances are not.

Looking into the services that are there, shows the same executable
(jrunsvc.exe), yet there are no startup parameters to differentiate
them. I'm curious as to what the difference is between the three since
they all run the same executable.

A solution, which seems a bit sloppy, is to create a scheduled task that
runs on system startup, which makes the appropriate command line
execution. (jrun.exe -start myCFInstance)

Is there anyway to add these instance as services like the default
cfusion one that is created during the initial install of the server?
