Update Error 2

2000-11-09 Thread Jeremy Toevs

Before I even had the valid field in my query I was receiving that error. And I also
tried the valid without the ' '. So I am still stumped.

>>> James Maltby <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 11/09/00 09:38AM >>>
Your error is with #valid# - you've got it setting above (as numeric) while
below you have it inserting as text '#valid#' = remove the '' marks and it
should work.

Is there a way to write a query that will add 1 to a numberic field in a
database? Meaning everytime the query is ran, it adds 1 to the current
number that is in the database. (example: if the database says 3 and I run
the query it will then say 4).

This may be a dumb question but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks

How exactly would I write this query, my table name being FOOD and field being HITS.

>>> Robert Hinojosa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 09/08/00 12:39PM >>>

Try This

UPDATE Products
SET ProdCount = (ProdCount+1)

Is there a way to write a query that will add 1 to a numberic field in a
database? Meaning everytime the query is ran, it adds 1 to the current
number that is in the database. (example: if the database says 3 and I run
the query it will then say 4).

This may be a dumb question but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Thanks

RE: UserAction.cfm

2000-08-29 Thread Jeremy Toevs

How would that query look?

>>> Kelly Matthews <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 08/29/00 08:43AM >>>
What i normally do is FIRST I RUN a QUERY against the database
seeing if the USERNAME that was passed is equal to any username in the
database. Then i do a
and show a message that the username is taken and then a
that does the insert. That way if the query comes back with at least
ONE record you know the user id is taken if it comes back with ZERO
you do the insert.

UserAction.cfm

2000-08-29 Thread Jeremy Toevs

When you have a "No Duplicates" field in the database and a duplicate is entered, CF
returns somewhat of a weird error message. How do you get it to return an error
message saying "This UserName is already in use, choose another." UserName being the
"No Duplicates" field. Here is my action cfm:

*

INSERT INTO Users (UserName, RealName, Email)
VALUES ('#UserName#','#RealName#','#Email#')

*

Thanks in advance,

CF Query Problem with Session Variables

2000-08-11 Thread Jeremy Toevs

Hey CF People,

I am storing the current users id in a session variable using the following:

Now I am trying to write a query that uses that.

SELECT User_ID, FullName, Login
FROM Users
WHERE session.user_ID = #CurrentUser.User_ID#
ORDER BY Login

Is it possible to use it, or am I just writing it wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for helping me out with this. I appreciate any help I can get, but like I
said, I'm not an expert. So what is this application.cfm and session variables?

Hello,

I am currently trying to build a web site using CFM where people can
log-on with a username and password into the site and see information
that is meant for only them. Basically what the people at Onvia.com
have running on your site.

On their web site, you enter your email address and password then you
are logged in. The page says "Welcome back Jeremy Toevs" and also
displays a logout button. All the information that I am set up for is
displayed for me.

I want to run a site where parents login and can view their kids
grades and what not and no other kids grades. I need someones help.

I know a little bit about CFM. But not as much as you guys do. I was
wondering if you someone could fill me in on how I can set something
up similar to what they have running on Onvia.com. I just can't get
the tables right and things like that. I notice that when I log on to
thier site the page URL is: https://www.onvia.com/usa/my/index.cfm?
task=login. The part ...?task=login confuses me. How does it know
that it is me logged in. The only way I know how to do it is. ...?
loginname=jeremy&password=834kds. I am confused on the pages I need,
the coding I need and the tables I need. Basically, I am clueless at
this point in my CF writing.

What would really help is if someone could set up a few pages: a
login page, the page viewed after the login page, and then a page
after that. And also an Access Database with the proper tables and
email it to me. And I would be able to figure out the rest from their.

If you someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. You
can contact me @ (503) 570-3157 or e-mail @ [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please
lend me a hand. I am building this site to help parents be more
involved with their kids school life. It is really important to me.

Sorry for the long message. But thank for your time,
