RE: Problemo - CFMX and Apache (reinstall)
This is a problem with the mod_jrun20.so that comes standard in MX. It's not compatable with CFMX. Supposedly if you run the CFMXupdater it will fix it (See Tech Note: http://www.macromedia.com/v1/handlers/index.cfm?ID=23162) . I had the same problem - and am still fighting it, so I can't say if it'll work or not. I ran that but now am having problems with CFMX seeing my Apache server (it wants to install as a Standalone server). Hopes this gets you going in the right direction ('cause I'm going that way too). Randy --- Randy Bickham Web Software Developer J.R. Simplot Company [EMAIL PROTECTED] (ORIGNIAL MESSAGE SNIPPED) I've had to reinstall CFMX and I'm now running into a problem with the Apache module. Linux CFMX - performance issues jvm question
We've got redhat 7.2 installed on Apache 1.3.22 and have having some performance issues with Cold Fusion MX (as soon and we get more than 3-4 users, everything tanks it. - 30 page render times) . Is anyone else having some of the same issues? Looking at the boxes, we have about 70 threads opened right at the start. Is this normal? And a last question, is there a better jvm out there than the out-of-the-box version installed with CFMX? We've scoured logs, performance tested, and looked for tech notes, but haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what the problem is. Any help or suggestions of additional places to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy --- Randy Bickham Web Software Developer J.R. Simplot Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
initial heap stack for the JVM in MX
I messed up and set the initial heap stack too high in CFMX. Not the java server won't start up. Does anyone know where the heap stack variable are stored so that I can manually go in and set the value to a lower amount? I can't do this in the admin tool because CF won't start up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Randy --- Randy Bickham Web Software Developer J.R. Simplot Company [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Homesite+ where is it?
I've downloaded the trial release of Dreamweaver MX, but can't find the copy of Homesite+ which is supposted to be installed with it. Is Homesite+ not installed with the trial? Just trying to see if it'll be a good replacement for Studio. Thanks, Randy --- Randy Bickham [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Software Developer J.R. Macromedia's Java for Web Developers course
I'm thinking of advancing my skill set into the Java realm and have been thinking of taking Macromedia's Java for Web Developers course. I've been doing CF for almost 7 years now, but was not a hard core programmer before that. So my OO background isn't the greatest. Has anyone taken this course? And if so can I get your opinion. CF Admin Delete of ALL mappings
I haven't looked to see if this is documented anywhere, but thought I comment on it so everyone won't do the same dumb thing. In CF Admin under mappings, if you click on a mapping to edit, erase the name and the mapping, with the intent to modify it, and then change your mind and click delete instead with nothing in the fields - EVERY ONE OF YOUR MAPPINGS ARE DELETED - no warnings or anything. From experience, this is a real bummer. Randy - Randy Bickham [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web Software Developer J.R. NEW: Open Source Was RE: Open source content management who wa nts to join
I'm on the digest version of the list (a few too many emails for me to track otherwise), so I get everyone's comments all at the same time. Because of that, I'm not including any snippets from other messages -too many. The new list for open source sounds great. I just signed up. It's open now. www.houseoffusion.com or send a subscribe message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (ok, I did include a snippet) I suggest we move the conversation over there (I posted both places).. Regarding my recommendation for PostgreSQL, I've used both mySQL (which I like) and it works great for small-medium size sites, but I've noticed that it begins to have a few problems as the size gets big and some of the SQL gets deeper. PostgreSQL (http://www.postgresql.org/) seems to be able to handle the larger sites better. I haven't used it as much as mySQL, but I've been impressed with it so far. But being that most of what people are going to do is going to be small-medium in size, maybe mySQL would be the better standard. I think the best direction would be what Thomas Chiverton commented. A portable system should run on all databases. That probably means we optimize for one and include the SQL code for others to tweak. Oh, and what a way to start the day - .. little over a third of my lifetime... (Stephan's remark) - and I'm only 33, which according to my kids is ancient. I guess it reflects the discussion with a co-worker (he's done CF for 6 or 7 years - when it wasn't even a 1.0 version yet) when we talked about using Commodore VIC-20's and how powerful they were. Sigh but at least I'm not as old as the coworker... :) ___ Randy Bickham Web Software Developer J.R. Re: Open source content management who wants to join
I'd be interested. I've only been doing CF for about 5 or 6 years, but may be able to help a little. I've built a couple of micro content management systems, but nothing portable like phpnuke. It'd be really great to see something open source like. I built one system using Spectra, only to have the project revamped with Macromedia's announcement of Spectra's demise (we're looking at other options now, including building it in CF). I think on of the biggest problems in a portable system will be the standard use of a database. If going with open source, I'd recommend PostreSQL over something like mySQL. Well I have seen recently on the lists that everyone is in need of a content management solution that is free. I would like to yell out to the lists to see if anyone is interested in starting one, either from scratch, pieces people have made, or from existing projects and merge the features together. Whoever is interested let's start up a little discussion on here and see where it can go. RE: Quotes within a quoted value
Thanks Judi and David. I combined both of your suggestions to get it working. I ended up with: INPUT TYPE=Text NAME=DiaFt SIZE=20CFIF IsDefined(EditEntry)CFOUTPUT QUERY=equipitem VALUE=#Replace('#Diaft#', '', 'quot;', 'ALL')#/CFOUTPUT/CFIF The double quote was lost in the INPUT tag, so by replacing it with the quot; it wouldn't be rendered as a qoute. The browser interprets is as the ISO char.
