Re: Can you do this in SQL using CF?
I have some processes that work on 100's of thousands of records daily. What they do is important but only parts of the processes are done in a way that needs logging. So, instead of filling my transaction log with all of these events and requiring a large transaction log, I would rather ignore some of the process. One thing I have done is use the truncate command to delete all the records in a temp table. It helps but I want to reduce the logging even more. Oh yeah, I'm also a bit of a freak. :-\ On 2/1/06, Jim Wright <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > There are certain operations with the bcp utility which can be minimally > logged, but I don't know of any way to not log general database > activityit kind of defeats the purpose of having the transaction log. > Why would you want to do that? > ~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:231104 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54

There are certain operations with the bcp utility which can be minimally logged, but I don't know of any way to not log general database activityit kind of defeats the purpose of having the transaction log. Why would you want to do that? On 2/1/06, Phill B <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I usually try using a subject that is close to what I'm looking for > but I never get a respons. Curses! ;-) You could try an MSSQL forum, like sqlservercentral.com, probably have better luck there. I would think that there would be an option to bypass the transaction log. I can't find anything using Google or the MS web site though. A list full of brainiacs and not an idea amongst them. I too was hoping you would be answered, since I have no idea. Can you do this in SQL using CF?
I usually try using a subject that is close to what I'm looking for but I never get a respons. So I decided to be a little more vague. My question is Is there a way to prevent an SQL update statement from logging to the transaction file? Some thing like "set noTransactionLog"? -- Phil ~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:231023 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
