Re: Does coldFusion just need a servlet engine
Tomcat J2ee server is indeed a true j2ee server and not just a servlet container. To run CF you need the J2EE version. Tomcat is a servlet container. It is a true J2EE server to the extent that it supports parts of the J2EE specification such as servlets and JSPs, but it is not an EJB server. You can run ColdFusion on top of Tomcat. You don't need EJBs for ColdFusion. The only thing I can think of that Tomcat wouldn't support natively is event gateways, which require a JMS server. Does coldFusion just need a servlet engine
All, I came across this article the other day ( http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/j2ee/phase2-tomcat-deploy.html ) which talks about deploying the coldFusion server on Tomcat. It was my understanding that Tomcat is just a servlet/jsp processor and is not a full j2ee server. (ejb's etc.) If coldFusion can run on just Tomcat, does this mean it doesn't rely on ejb's or other fancy j2ee features or am i mistaken altogether?
