Re: I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms
Thanks guys, I was afraid that was the case. I wish I had the foresight to see CF Flash Forms going the way of the dinosaurs when I first developed this app. but at the time, CF Flash Forms was a fairly new feature and I was excited about using them. (after all, it made such nice looking forms and controls) All my new apps. are being developed using HTML forms, JQuery and JQGrid with CF mostly used for backend operations like database connectivity and business logic, but a lot of my early work contained flash forms. Thanks again guys and happy coding. ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:356456 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm

Jon, having my own license wouldn't really help. They're already using my old license and have the app. hosted internally, but they want to go with outside hosting so they can access the app. from anywhere without having to VPN into their network. (plus the database is stored on their hosting companies servers because the same database also drives the PHP pages that their clients access so the CF server is actually VPN'ing onto the web server to create the data connection and it keeps timing out) Their hosting company said it can't just use their existing license because their web servers are clustered and it would require more than one license so buying another license won't really help me any. (personally, I think they just want to be able to make a profit off of the licensing costs since they're quoting $ 7,000. per license and I've seen them listed for just over $ 5,000. online) But thanks for the offer anyway, Jon and for your advice as well. ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/message.cfm/messageid:356457 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/unsubscribe.cfm
Re: I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms
Ray, prior to CF10, with a single enterprise license you can do 10 cloud/vps installations, so unless they need more than that, and their existing license is an enterprise license, then it should suffice. The usage within a cluster also depends what type of cluster. If it is a load balancing cluster where all nodes are online, then each one will use up one of your 10 instances, if however it is a failover cluster, then only the online/active nodes count. Sounds like their host don't really understand the CF licensing or they are using physical legacy servers rather than virtual servers. Are they a known CF host or just a generic host? If they are a generic host then I would suggest they speak with a host who specialise in CF. Also why are they using a VPN to access the app currently? if they are happy for the app to be public anyway, then why not just make the existing server publicly accessible, using a DMZ or port forwarding. I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms
I have a client that is using a ColdFusion application that I developed several years ago that relies heavily on the use of ColdFusion flash forms. They need to find an alternative to the ColdFusion hosting engine because of the licensing costs but the only two alternatives I can find is Railo and Blue Dragon however neither of these products support ColdFusion flash forms. Ray is right. It will be cheaper for the client to stay with the Adobe product rather than incur the cost of a major code rewrite. You could look in to purchasing an older licensed copy off of eBay for a reduced price. Not to try to pimp anything on you but I have an old CF8 Std. that is out of service now that I'd be willing to let go cheap. Send me an email offline if you're interested. Strange errors when running CF from command line and running Flash Forms.
Hi all, Recently I started running ColdFusion from the command line so I can see any errors/exceptions/etc live. While I was running a page that has a flash form in it, the following errors came up on the screen: 01/06 11:55:04 [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key [//http://*REDACTED*/181282.mxml.cfswf] 01/06 11:55:08 [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key [//http://*REDACTED*/CFIDE/scripts/cfform.swc.cfswf] 01/06 12:22:03 [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key [//http://*REDACTED*/385919644.mxml.cfswf] 01/06 12:26:32 [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key [//http://*REDACTED*/580813472.mxml.cfswf] I hit the same page three times (which accounts for the different numbers before .mxml.cfswf). The pages don't error at all. I just really don't like ERROR messages in my logs/on my screen, so I'm interested in what these might mean. I have googled the errors using [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key and [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state from key, but have found nothing that relates. Re: KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms
Will, I got back from CFUnited and found out that everyone who downloaded FF3 at our company was having problems with our Flash Forms. All I could find was a post on Mike Chambers blog that referenced a problem with FF3 and Flash which had been fixed. But he only referenced a mac url for the fix and we're on Windows. The key thing was that everyone having a problem downloaded FF3 on the big download day. I downloaded it yesterday and didn't experience a problem. Their version of FF3 didn't indicate that an update was available. However removing Firefox 3 and completely reinstalling fixed the problem here. RE: KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms
Thanks Rick - hope you enjoyed cfunited btw. I totally uninstalled all previous versions, including having to manually remove the firefox 3 beta folder, and then reinstalled and that did seem to do the job. I was surprised at how little there was on there about this. Anyway, all fixed now. Cheers w -Original Message- From: Rick Mason [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 24 June 2008 14:30 To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms Will, I got back from CFUnited and found out that everyone who downloaded FF3 at our company was having problems with our Flash Forms. Michael, You have to have access to the CFIDE directory. If you view the source on the page you have listed, you will see that it is looking for some JS in this directory. Copy the directory from your development theme to your hosted site.. You don't need the whole thing I don't think, but this is what I have done, because then I know that everything is there. Re: Flash Forms Not Working In CF 8
Michael, it is usually faster to just upload it, like I said from your local development copy. My hosting company just told me to upload it, as that way, I a) had what I wanted b) they didn't have to expose anything to me regarding server set-up, and I didn't have to reprogram. If they don't put the CFIDE in the webroot (as that is where it is looking.. the following is from your code on-line: Here is the test template script type=text/javascript charset='utf-8' src='/CFIDE/scripts/cfformhistory.js'/script) then you will have to use the scriptsrc attribute to point it to the right place. Hopefully your hosting company is more accomodating then mine, but if not, the above is the solution... or that is my 2 cents anyways :) Rob Thanks Rob, I have forwarded this to the hosting company, as we don't have access to that directory. Ill let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the quick response, Michael Michael, You have to have access to the CFIDE directory. If you view the source on the page you have listed, you will see that it is looking for some JS in this directory. Copy the directory from your development theme to your hosted site.. You don't need the whole thing I don't think, but this is what I have done, because then I know that everything is there. Flash forms and Flash player version.
Hi all, I have a question about CF Flash forms. I get calls from my users (intranet) where data won't show up on a flash form, just a please wait message. This please wait is a default message I populate before remoting gets the data. Invariably, not changing from please wait to displaying data is because the flash player version is too old. I have them upgrade and everything works. I know you could, with flash, set a minimum version number to display the swf, otherwise it would provide a link to download the latest flash player. Is there anything like that for flash forms? Why wasn't it built in if flash forms and remoting require a specific version to work properly? Steve ~| Create robust enterprise, web RIAs. Related Datefields with Flash Forms
I'm trying to create my very first Flash Form in CF. I figured I should do it at least once and I may have already gone beyond the capabilities. I have two date fields. I want the value of the first field to be the minimum value of the second. I.E a user can not select a value in the second field that is earlier then the value selected in the first. What is the easiest way to do this. It looks like I can not simply bind the minimum value of the second control to the value of the first like I might do in a full Flex implementation correct? Example: http://www.it.dev.duke.edu/public/test.cfm I ran fiddler and the following URL request failed with an HTTP 412 error: /public/864704189.mxml.cfswf Text view of the response: headtitleJRun Servlet Error/title/headh1412 Unknown/h1body Unknown/body But I can't finda nything in the coldfusion log files that indicates what's going on. Re: flash forms problem
Well, that's impressively obscure. 412 Precondition Failed This code indicates that the request was unsuccessful because one of the client's conditions was not met. For example, the client can tell the server ``only update this resource if the current version is X.'' If the current version is not ``X,'' the server returns a 412 response. (http://www.web-cache.com/Writings/http-status-codes.html) There was definitely nothing in cfserver.log or any of the other logs? Nope, nothing in the log files. I think maybe I'll try restarting the CF instance... although I tried this on two different instances and got the same results. There's an Apache mapping to /CFIDE which works (I tested and the .js etc comes through). I also added one to /WEB-INF in case that made a difference. The result is the same in both IE and FF, but that's to be expected as it's failing server-side as shown above. The same form code works on my desktop machine: cfform format=flash width=500 cfinput type=button value=Hello name=hi / /cfform The server is headless while my desktop isn't, if that makes a difference. CFCHART tags work fine, as do things like ImageCFC (as we've set up a virtual XServer with Xvfb). Re: Flash Forms and HTML
No. But you can use the CFGRID control for the display of tabular data (or queries). ColdFusion Scorpio (Release Candidate due any day now) also allows for Rich Text entry using the included FCK Editor (though not in Flash forms sadly). No other updates to flash forms either as Adobe would rather you used Flex instead which is a pity. ~| Deploy Web Applications Quickly across the enterprise with ColdFusion MX7 Flex 2 Free Trial http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/flex2/?sdid=RVJU Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/message.cfm/messageid:279411 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Talk/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4

Re: Flash Forms and HTML
What happens when you try, George? That's what the cfformitem type=html is for. So you can add html elements inside the form.
