Re: I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms

2013-08-13 Thread Ray Meade

Thanks guys, I was afraid that was the case. I wish I had the foresight to see
CF Flash Forms going the way of the dinosaurs when I first developed this app.
but at the time, CF Flash Forms was a fairly new feature and I was excited
about using them. (after all, it made such nice looking forms and controls) All
my new apps. are being developed using HTML forms, JQuery and JQGrid with CF
mostly used for backend operations like database connectivity and business
logic, but a lot of my early work contained flash forms. Thanks again guys and
happy coding.

Re: I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms

Jon, having my own license wouldn't really help. They're already using my old
license and have the app. hosted internally, but they want to go with outside
hosting so they can access the app. from anywhere without having to VPN into
their network. (plus the database is stored on their hosting companies servers
because the same database also drives the PHP pages that their clients access
so the CF server is actually VPN'ing onto the web server to create the data
connection and it keeps timing out) Their hosting company said it can't just
use their existing license because their web servers are clustered and it would
require more than one license so buying another license won't really help me
any. (personally, I think they just want to be able to make a profit off of the
licensing costs since they're quoting $ 7,000. per license and I've seen them
listed for just over $ 5,000. online) But thanks for the offer anyway, Jon and
for your advice as well.

Re: I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms

2013-08-13 Thread Russ Michaels

Ray,

prior to CF10, with a single enterprise license you can do 10 cloud/vps
installations, so unless they need more than that, and their existing
license is an enterprise license, then it should suffice. The usage within
a cluster also depends what type of cluster. If it is a load balancing
cluster where all nodes are online, then each one will use up one of your
10 instances, if however it is a failover cluster, then only the
online/active nodes count.
Sounds like their host don't really understand the CF licensing or they
are using physical legacy servers rather than virtual servers. Are they a
known CF host or just a generic host? If they are a generic host then I
would suggest they speak with a host who specialise in CF.

Also why are they using a VPN to access the app currently? if they are
happy for the app to be public anyway, then why not just make the existing
server publicly accessible, using a DMZ or port forwarding.

I need a CF alternative that supports flash forms

2013-08-12 Thread Ray Meade

I have a client that is using a ColdFusion application that I developed several
years ago that relies heavily on the use of ColdFusion flash forms. They need
to find an alternative to the ColdFusion hosting engine because of the
licensing costs but the only two alternatives I can find is Railo and Blue
Dragon however neither of these products support ColdFusion flash forms. Does
anyone know of any CF engine alternative that supports CF flash forms, I really
don't want to have to redesign 174 pages from scratch if I can possibly avoid
it. (plus I doubt the client will be willing to pay me for the time it will
take to convert them to HTML forms)

Flash forms are proprietary to adobe, so if you want to keep them then you
gotta stick with cf.
The only other alternative is redo them in html or flex.

Ray is right. It will be cheaper for the client to stay with the Adobe product
rather than incur the cost of a major code rewrite. You could look in to
purchasing an older licensed copy off of eBay for a reduced price.

Not to try to pimp anything on you but I have an old CF8 Std. that is out of

you're interested. All my apps are running on Railo now.

Strange errors when running CF from command line and running Flash Forms.

2011-01-06 Thread DURETTE, STEVEN J (ATTASIAIT)

Hi all,

Recently I started running ColdFusion from the command line so I can see
any errors/exceptions/etc live.

While I was running a page that has a flash form in it, the following
errors came up on the screen:

01/06 11:55:04 [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state
from key [//http://*REDACTED*/181282.mxml.cfswf]

01/06 11:55:08 [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state
from key [//http://*REDACTED*/CFIDE/scripts/cfform.swc.cfswf]

01/06 12:22:03 [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state
from key [//http://*REDACTED*/385919644.mxml.cfswf]

01/06 12:26:32 [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to get a state
from key [//http://*REDACTED*/580813472.mxml.cfswf]

I hit the same page three times (which accounts for the different
numbers before .mxml.cfswf). The pages don't error at all. I just really
don't like ERROR messages in my logs/on my screen, so I'm interested in
what these might mean.

I have googled the errors using [jrpp-0] ERROR internal error: expected
to get a state from key and [jrpp-4] ERROR internal error: expected to
get a state from key, but have found nothing that relates.

Any one seen this before and know how to fix it?

Thanks,

Steve

The [jrpp-0] bit isn't relevant for your search, as it just designates
the specific JRun thread. The error itself is an artifact of how CF
caches output internally, and can be safely disregarded.

Flash Forms Stopped Working In ColdFusion 9

2010-04-01 Thread Larry Peery

We moved our websites, many of which use Flash Forms, from a server running
ColdFusion 7 to a server running ColdFusion 9.

At first all the Flash Forms in the various websites worked fine.

However, on the same day all the Flash Forms stopped working on the ColdFusion
9 server. No changes were made to the websites, to IIS 6, or to ColdFusion.
We've restarted ColdFusion, IIS 6, and the server.

The error we get when loading a page that includes a Flash Form is:

412 Unknown

(for example http://www.futurefamilydocs.org/test/testflashforms/index.cfm)

We have found the error message coldfusion is generating when we try to access
a page that has a flash form:

C:\ColdFusion9\runtime\logs\coldfusion-event.log
03/29 13:02:45 user CFSwfServlet: Error: The class
'mx.rpc.RemoteClassRelayResponder' could not be loaded.
03/29 13:02:45 user CFSwfServlet: at
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\futurefamilydocs\test\testflashforms\inde.mxml:393

I researched that error and found suggestions to redo the IIS configuration for
ColdFusion. I did that but still get the same error.

The CFIDE is setup correctly and all websites see and have access to it. You
can view the javascript in the browser output.

I also have tried the recommendation here...
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/ebd0cbe3.html but still have the same issue.

Thanks

RE: CFDIV inside Flash Forms

2008-07-10 Thread Dave Watts
Anybody get cfdiv to work inside a flash form?

DHTML and AJAX functionality won't work inside Flash forms, so presumably
CFML tags that generate that stuff won't work either.

Re: KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms

2008-06-24 Thread Rick Mason
Will,

I got back from CFUnited and found out that everyone who downloaded FF3 at
our company was having problems with our Flash Forms.

All I could find was a post on Mike Chambers blog that referenced a problem
with FF3 and Flash which had been fixed. But he only referenced a mac url
for the fix and we're on Windows.

The key thing was that everyone having a problem downloaded FF3 on the big
download day. I downloaded it yesterday and didn't experience a problem.

Their version of FF3 didn't indicate that an update was available. However
removing Firefox 3 and completely reinstalling fixed the problem here.

Nope. This was a clean install of FF3 with no extensions at all.

I noticed that there was still a ff3 beta folder in the Program files
folder, although I had uninstalled it - have deleted it, will uninstall ff3
 and restart, then try again.

No other xp pro machines here to test on. Will install it on the mac though
 to check.

Thanks for the time guys - if anyone has any other bright ideas I'm all
 ears!

Thanks Rick - hope you enjoyed cfunited btw.

I totally uninstalled all previous versions, including having to manually
remove the firefox 3 beta folder, and then reinstalled and that did seem to
do the job.

I was surprised at how little there was on there about this.

Anyway, all fixed now.

RE: KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms

2008-06-19 Thread Will Swain

Nope. This was a clean install of FF3 with no extensions at all.

I noticed that there was still a ff3 beta folder in the Program files
folder, although I had uninstalled it - have deleted it, will uninstall ff3
and restart, then try again.

No other xp pro machines here to test on. Will install it on the mac though
to check.

Thanks for the time guys - if anyone has any other bright ideas I'm all
ears!

Any funky FF add-ons/extensions possibly causing the issue?
Firebug and Web developer are the only ones I'm running.

Does it work on another computer within the network? If not, maybe some
funky trusted domain setting or someting??

KInda OT - FF3 and flash forms

2008-06-18 Thread Will Swain
Hi,

Apologies for the slightly OT post, but has anyone else experienced issues
with Flash forms not loading in Firefox 3.

I get view other flash content, but a couple of places where we use flash
cfforms in our intranet just aren't working. They do work in IE.

I've seen that there were some issues with betas of FF3 and flash content in
general, but that doesn't seem to be my problem.

Cheers

Will

Flash Forms Not Working In CF 8

2008-03-11 Thread Michael Payne
We are building a new site using a CF 8 hosting company, and everything seems
to work fine except for forms which include the cfform format=Flash. Even
the simplest of code will not display the flash.

For example:

cfform format=flash
cfinput type=text name=firstname
cfinput type=submit name=submit value=save
/cfform

The result page for this is http://www.houseboynetwork.com/index.cfm so you can
view the source and see what its doing. It gives a JS error.

Our hosting provider hasn't had a client that uses CF Flash Forms before so
they have not encountered this issue. Does anyone know of something that needs
to be activated in the server or some other configuration we are missing to get
this working?

Please help...

Michael,

You have to have access to the CFIDE directory. If you view the source on the
page you have listed, you will see that it is looking for some JS in this
directory. Copy the directory from your development theme to your hosted
site.. You don't need the whole thing I don't think, but this is what I have
done, because then I know that everything is there.

Re: Flash Forms Not Working In CF 8

2008-03-11 Thread Rob Parkhill
Michael,

it is usually faster to just upload it, like I said from your local development
copy.

My hosting company just told me to upload it, as that way, I a) had what I
wanted b) they didn't have to expose anything to me regarding server set-up,
and I didn't have to reprogram.

If they don't put the CFIDE in the webroot (as that is where it is looking..
the following is from your code on-line:

Here is the test template
script type=text/javascript charset='utf-8'
src='/CFIDE/scripts/cfformhistory.js'/script)

then you will have to use the scriptsrc attribute to point it to the right
place.

Hopefully your hosting company is more accomodating then mine, but if not, the
above is the solution... or that is my 2 cents anyways :)

Rob

Debuggin Flash Forms

2007-10-08 Thread Rick Root
So, I've got this page with a somewhat complex flash form on it... no
actionscript or anything.. just a lot of elements, a tab navigator,
etc...

Seems to have stopped working after the CF8 upgrade.

No errors are generated in the application.log or exception.log, I
just get no form

Anyone got any suggestions here? Kinda hard to debug problems with no errors :)

Neat, it comes up in Firefox.

the problem is that it doesn't come up in Internet Explorer 7. I
don't know why.

I do get a javascript error in IE, but I assume it's because the flash
object isn't loaded.

Sorry that is for CF8.

How about under your Debugging Logging - Debugging Settings, there is a

Flash forms not doing anything.

2007-10-04 Thread Ian Skinner
I have the simplest test of a flash form and nothing is happening. I
mean nothing, no errors displayed or logged, no output to the browser,
nothing.

body
Start
cfform name=foo action=form_test.cfm format=flash
  cfinput type=text name=bar/
/cfform
End
/body

The output in the browser:

!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC -//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN
http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd;
html xmlns=http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml;
head
meta http-equiv=Content-Type content=text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 /
titleFlash Form Test/title
script type=text/javascript src=/cfide/scripts/cfform.js/script
script type=text/javascript src=/cfide/scripts/masks.js/script
/head

body
Start

End
/body

/html

I've checked everything I can think to check. Any advice most appreciated I
just don't know where to even start here.

Bump

I have spent all day searching for any rhyme or reason why a cfform
format=flash... will return absolutely nothing, no errors, no markup,
nothing. It fails completely silently. I have found postings here and
there of others experiencing the same behavior, but nothing with
anything approaching a solution or even an avenue to investigate.

Any ideas anybody?

Flash forms and Flash player version.

2007-07-03 Thread DURETTE, STEVEN J (ATTASIAIT)
Hi all,

I have a question about CF Flash forms. I get calls from my users
(intranet) where data won't show up on a flash form, just a please wait
message. This please wait is a default message I populate before
remoting gets the data.

Invariably, not changing from please wait to displaying data is because
the flash player version is too old. I have them upgrade and everything
works. I know you could, with flash, set a minimum version number to
display the swf, otherwise it would provide a link to download the
latest flash player. Is there anything like that for flash forms? Why
wasn't it built in if flash forms and remoting require a specific
version to work properly?

Related Datefields with Flash Forms

2007-07-02 Thread Ian Skinner
I'm trying to create my very first Flash Form in CF. I figured I should
do it at least once and I may have already gone beyond the capabilities.

I have two date fields. I want the value of the first field to be the
minimum value of the second. I.E a user can not select a value in the
second field that is earlier then the value selected in the first. What
is the easiest way to do this.

It looks like I can not simply bind the minimum value of the second
control to the value of the first like I might do in a full Flex
implementation correct? So I am guessing I will need to do some kind of
validation script after the two values are entered, but I am not having
immediate results getting the Flex controls to trigger my JS functions.
Can somebody provide a simple example of how to provide this functionality?

TIA
Ian

Flash Forms on Readyhosting

2007-06-20 Thread Bruce Sorge
Has anyone here using Readyhosting tried to use Flash Forms? I uploaded a
test form and it does not work. I get a JS error, and I discovered that they
do not have the required JS scripts to do this. I searched their FAQ and
Knowledgebase, Google and House of Fusion and cannot find anything.

Thanks,

flash forms problem

2007-06-19 Thread Rick Root
I'm having a rather sudden problem with flash forms not loading.

Example: http://www.it.dev.duke.edu/public/test.cfm

I ran fiddler and the following URL request failed with an HTTP 412 error:

/public/864704189.mxml.cfswf

Text view of the response:

headtitleJRun Servlet Error/title/headh1412 Unknown/h1body
Unknown/body

But I can't finda nything in the coldfusion log files that indicates
what's going on.

Re: flash forms problem

2007-06-19 Thread James Holmes
Well, that's impressively obscure.

412 Precondition Failed

This code indicates that the request was unsuccessful because one of
the client's conditions was not met. For example, the client can tell
the server ``only update this resource if the current version is X.''
If the current version is not ``X,'' the server returns a 412
response.

There was definitely nothing in cfserver.log or any of the other logs?

Of course that's a temporary file so I can't look at it =)

Oh hell. I know what the problem is!

cfinput name=btnCancel type=button value=View Full Roster
onClick=window.location.href='view_roster.cfm';

I guess I have to use actionscript in there instead of javascript...

Anyone know how to do that in AS2? :)

I finally dug up the reason for this error - we had an older Batik.jar
in our classpath (from a FOP install quite some time ago) and it was
conflicting. Now I just have to check that FOP still works...

Flash forms errors

2007-05-29 Thread James Holmes
On our Solaris 9 / Apache 2.0 / CF Enterprise 7.02 servers, flash
forms don't work. The following error is produced in cfserver.log

Error: macromedia.css.LocatorParser
  (/WEB-INF/cfform/global.css)
05/29 16:05:08 user CFSwfServlet: Error: macromedia.css.LocatorParser
05/29 16:05:08 user CFSwfServlet: at /test/926063822.mxml.cfswf
05/29 16:05:09 user CFSwfServlet: Error: The class
'mx.rpc.RemoteClassRelayResponder' could not be loaded.

There's an Apache mapping to /CFIDE which works (I tested and the .js
etc comes through). I also added one to /WEB-INF in case that made a
difference.

The result is the same in both IE and FF, but that's to be expected as
it's failing server-side as shown above.

The same form code works on my desktop machine:

cfform format=flash width=500
cfinput type=button value=Hello name=hi /
/cfform

The server is headless while my desktop isn't, if that makes a
difference. CFCHART tags work fine, as do things like ImageCFC (as
we've set up a virtual XServer with Xvfb).

Does anyone have more ideas?

I'd like to have a cfgrid on the top and then a html table after the grid.
If I use cfform format=flash then I can see the html table. If I remove
flash from the format attribute then the grid won't work. I'd like to do
both in one cfform.

Re: Flash Forms and HTML

2007-05-28 Thread Peter Tilbrook
No. But you can use the CFGRID control for the display of tabular data (or
queries).

ColdFusion Scorpio (Release Candidate due any day now) also allows for Rich
Text entry using the included FCK Editor (though not in Flash forms sadly). No
other updates to flash forms either as Adobe would rather you used Flex instead
which is a pity.

RIA's - Flash Forms

2007-05-14 Thread Pete

Hi there

I am trying to finish of a flashform.

Basically what I am trying to do is the following - but a little unsure of
how it is done.

Basically I want to include a question with radio buttons Yes and No as the
possible answers. If Yes is selected then I will display text box which is
to be filled in.

If No is selected then the user will just continue on.

Also how to I make it so that the user MUST complete either Yes or No.

I have the form which can be viewed at

http://www.drzacharia.com.au/vcflashform.cfm

The code that I have for Step 3 is as follows is

cfformgroup type=horizontal

cfformitem type=text width=200Have you had previous
surgery?/cfformitem

cfinput onclick=#enable_previous_surgery_validation# type=radio
label=Yes name=previous_surgery value=Yes required message=Please
select if you have previously had cosmetic surgery

cfinput onclick=#disable_previous_surgery_validation# type=radio
label=No name=Previous_surgery value=No

cfformitem type=text width=200If you have previously had cosmetic
surgery please let us know what procedure you had performed/cfformitem

/cfformgroup

cfformgroup type=horizontal

cfformitem type=text width=200If YES please elaborate, if NO please
enter N/A/cfformitem

cfinput type=text name=elaboration required=yes size=25
maxlength=25 height=100 validateat=onsubmit,onServer

/cfformgroup

Thanks in advance for assistance
