What you need is :

gridname.addItem(data goes here)

"data goes here" is in the form :

{GridCol1:SourceField1,GridCol2:SourceField2,.}

is it possible to add a row to a CFGrid that starts off empty? I've 
tried with the built-in insert button and a standalone (with 
onClick="GridData.insertRow(GridName)")
