Isn't this a good sign - that there is a market for all these CF books? Simon Park ~~ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox. Ummm, excuse me folks, but according to Amazon these are books on self-discovery and on art. RE: Battle of the Gurus (Re: Blatant advertising (you have been w arned))
I actually stick with Ben's books (QUE) for a more down-to-earth look at CF development. I have his CF 4 beginner and advanced books, and although the first half of the blue book was useless to me, the books in general were very well worded. It might be worth the wait for his advanced CF5 book to come out. Also take note that a lot of the stuff in his books lean towards using cfform objects, and I never use the cfform tag unless I need cfgrid, cfgraph, or cftree. -Original Message- From: stas [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 7:56 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: Battle of the Gurus (Re: Blatant advertising (you have been warned)) So now that the new WROX CF5 book is out as well, can somebody provide a review? Rick -Original Message- From: Ben Forta [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, July 25, 2001 8:56 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Blatant advertising (you have been warned) Because I am being asked about this several times a day now ... The new edition of my ColdFusion 5 Web Application Construction Kit is now shipping. The book, now in it's 4th edition, has grown dramatically (it's 50% bigger, excluding the appendixes!) and now includes coverage of CF5 features, lots more basics and tips, project planning, methodologies (including an overview of Fusebox, cfObjects, and others), server configuration fine-tuning, code management, Flash integration, using UltraDev, and much more. All the code examples and applications are new, even the examples have all been updated and revamped, and the ever popular tag and function references are now in electronic form (PDF) so you can search and print them as needed. The book page is at http://www.forta.com/books/0789725843/, and you can buy from Amazon.com (who are taking advance orders) at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ISBN=0789725843/benfortascoldfusA/. (Don't worry about the cover shown on Amazon.com, it is wrong, the correct cover is the one shown on my site). Enjoy! --- Ben PS Sorry about the cross posting. RE: Battle of the Gurus (Re: Blatant advertising (you have been w arned))
There is only three that I would purchase, ColdFusion 5 Web Application Construction Kit, Professional ColdFusion 5.0 by Wrox Press Inc, and Mastering Coldfusion 5.0 each seem to go a little further in some areas, but that would be it for me anyway, unless a book is released with a chapter on getting the dream chick wiithout any error handling.. -Original Message- From: Ken Wilson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 4:16 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: Battle of the Gurus (Re: Blatant advertising (you have been warned)) Used to be I bought every CF book that came out whether I needed it or not...to support the cause so to speak.
