Performance counters? I haven't heard that term in relation to CF before...can you elaborate? Load the performance monitor in Windows, then add counters. There should be a ColdFusion entry in the selector list, then you can add the individual counters (avg page time, avg db time, queued pages, etc). Very handy for monitoring specific aspects of the CF service. -Justin Scott | GravityFree Senior Programmer / Product Engineer 1960 Stickney Point Road, Second Floor Sarasota | FL | 34231 | 800.207.4431 941.927.7674 | f 941.923.5429 www.GravityFree.com ~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:235349 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4 Donations Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54

RE: SOLVED: Re: CF 7 upgrade BAD!
That is correct Bryan, the JRUNscripts virtual directory should be pointing there, presuming u only have the one instance of jrun. As it is a virtual directory it has to point at a folder, it cannot point at a file. In fact I don't even know how you could point the vdir at D:\CFusionMX\runtime\lib\wsconfig\1\jrun.dll. RE: CF 7 upgrade BAD!
Bryan, Have them download and install a trial version of SeeFusion: http://www.seefusion.com/ (It'll run for the first 2 hours of the server's uptime and then stop reporting stats until you buy a license. This will be more than enough time to try to troubleshoot.) Start monitoring the Completed Tasks and look for differences between the First Byte and Total Time. The First Byte column tells you how long it took to server the very first byte to the client. Provided you're not using CFFLUSH to push content to the user, this will essentially tell you how long CF took to process the page. The Total Time gives you the total time of the request--including the time it took to push the request to the client. Think of this as the Last Byte. You can then take the difference between the Total Time and the First Byte to figure out if you've got latency issues. From what you're saying, it looks almost like your bandwidth is getting throttled. Check to make sure IIS is throttling the bandwidth. -Dan -Original Message- From: Bryan Stevenson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 11:49 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: CF 7 upgrade BAD! Re: CF 7 upgrade BAD!
Bryan -- We have been experiencing the same issues with CF 7. We had one machine 6 and one 7 on windows 2000, we moved to all CF 7 on windows 2003 2gigs ram, dual xeons and experienced a major slow down. We ran seefusion and noticed first time to byte of many files to be very high. Upwards of 200+ seconds in some cases. The queries would run in ms put pages would hang up waiting. We added a third box and it didn't help too much. We messed with sim. Connections, higher and lower and didn't seem to matter. Things are improving, we have redone queries and done some other things code wise but we still see these sticks every day. The big thing is well it worked before why doesn't it work now. We had out managed hosting check everything, lost packets, you name it network wise and nothing is wrong. Something is different for sure. What I don't know. -Original Message- From: Bryan Stevenson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 14, 2006 12:22 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: ***SPAM*** Re: CF 7 upgrade BAD! ahhh...gothca now justinthanks Bryan Stevenson B.Comm.
