Re: Gmail thinks cf-talk is spam (since January 11th)?
For those who are wondering where their list-email is going: It seems SpamAssassin 3.1 is tagging some mail from HoF as spam because of the way headers are handled. The x-mailer, mimeole and outlook headers are stripped from messages. But because Outlook uses a special algorithm to generate messageids, SpamAssassin recognizes the messageid as originating from Outlook. That means that the following tests in SpamAssassin are triggered: MSGID_DOLLARS: (__OUTLOOK_DOLLARS_MSGID !__HAS_OUTLOOK_IN_MAILER !__UNUSABLE_MSGID) RATWARE_MS_HASH (__MSGID_DOLLARS_OK !__HAS_X_MAILER) RATWARE_OUTLOOK_NONAME (__MSGID_DOLLARS_OK !__MIMEOLE_MS) In parenthesis are the macro expansions of these tests which are pretty self-explaining. This is even submitted as a SpamAssassin bug http://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=4678 Jochem ~| Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:231686 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54

I had removed the footer text ads at that point. It's happening to me too Sean. About 6 or 7 out of 30 each day wind up in my spam folder. Re: Gmail thinks cf-talk is spam (since January 11th)?
same here..probably an even higher percentage...I wish gmail would have an option to not mark labeled items as spam...I have a filter to mark things sent to cf-talk with a cftalk label and have them skip the inbox...the annoying thing is that when you un-spam the spammed items, gmail returns them to the inbox! If anyone comes up with a neat solution, let me knowit happens on a bio-fuels group I subscribe to as well. Re: Gmail thinks cf-talk is spam (since January 11th)?
I've contacted Google about it through proper channels and if I don't hear back in the coming week, I'll use some of my non-proper channels. :) It may be the change-over in IP from 64.118.74.245 to 64.118.74.249. Personally, I have not seen more than a handful of messages set to spam, but different accounts probably have different thresholds for spam. It should clear up over time as people notice the messages set to spam and fix it. I'll see what heading changes can be made to speed up the process. for what it is worth -- I have had a couple of Mike's messages wind up in spam, but no others. I'm seeing the same thing as some of the others - cf-talk messages being marked as spam in reasonable numbers for no reason. Over a day, perhaps 5-10 from various people will get marked. Sean Corfield wrote: A good proportion of my cf-talk list mail is now being flagged as spam / junk by Gmail. It started on Jan 11 or Jan 12. I am seeing lots of hits in my email filters on rules matching messageids and occasionally when a message triggers 3 rules or more it gets marked as spam. Only happens on people using MUAs that do not adhere to RFC 2822 3.6.4 (or maybe even just Outlook) so I am not worried: if people really wanted me to read their email they would use a MUA that followed the rules :) Michael: are you rewriting In-Reply-To headers as References headers? Been happenning to me too. Not many, a few a day or so. I not Spam them each time, so that the filter might pick up on it. So far it's an annoyance only.
